The one who asked for details originally signed the post sm. I'm not taking sides in the fairness thing, but by the time JMO said he/she would give details in email, it was already obvious that details weren't going to make some people happy anyway.

And me thinks you see correctly. What fields would use MT's skill set to the greatest advantage? Any opinions out there on that?

I love MT and if it peters out I'll be one sad camper, but life does that sort of thing now and then.... However, there must be some other sphere's where MT experience would give a bit of an edge on the market. What do the rest of you think? 

Maybe its me but I work and when I am downloading, I read the various boards  -- I see/read people that the productivity is there 250-300 lines an hour or more but what I am wondering about is bottom line  -- patient care  -- no, we are NOT doctors but how many MTs know how to really research the internet for drugs etc?  I see posts with word expanders  -- they are WONDERFUL tools, but in MHO, if you are a newbie, just starting out, get the disks, the books, and LEARN how to use the internet  -- I did QA for a company for a while, and I had a Transcriptionist (newbie) call me in tears because she was called on the carpet for typing (and I saw the actual report)  -- Kem-7  -- come on, everyone,  You should be researching and looking  -- yes, it IS hard, but I see a lot of the SAME names on this board, spending hours, gabbing and chatting and yet whine when they are not making a decent salary  -- bottom line, I am a single, widowed woman, been in this business for a long time and yes, I have my throw in the towel momemts but I also have a work ethic that is pull one's self up by the boot straps  -- yes, we have to vent about our men who are the southbound end of a northbound horse, but people do not realize that even though we work at home, we are working, spending hours sometimes taking care of the home front with bills etc and not getting paid for it -- Its not the companies, its trying to plan things and go from there  -- If you're married, hubby has to understand that this is NOT a hobby job, as do a few of you that I have seen a lot on this board  -- you do this and that , but yet you are the whiners and complainers when it comes to companies treating you unfairly or no work.

Maybe Wal-Mart for those of you IS  A BETTER alternative  -- for me I make between 40-50K a year, but I am focused on my job as well  -- blood, sweat and tears too.

In my response, i posted about the NEGATIVE response shown to the original poster who simply thanked me for an encouraging response.  Somehow, the negative poster(s) assumed that their response was not appreciated as there was no specific thank you involved.  FYI, the OP did not say she didn't appreciate the other posts; but someone with preconceived ideas jumped to conclusions huh? therefore, my post about attitude was, i believe, correct.  Remember, she was a new hire, excited about her new job, and looking for some support, NOT to get slammed with a bunch of negatives. 

Again, when you have a bum attitude, it affects your personal relationships, your work relationships and your decisions as well.  There is a time and place for negativity and i don't think that is what the OP was looking for. 

However, I remember this job post and I think the pay was 7 cpl.  You get what you pay for is all I can say.   

As far as your reasons for job hopping, it makes me no nevermind, I was simply pointing out the fact that you've had four jobs in 15 years.  In my opinion, that is a lot of jobs to have in that span of time.  I had the same employer for 15+ years and have serviced the same accounts for 10+.  Longevity equals production in this business. 

I think that many promises are made to these MTs by these MTSOs, and then the promises are broken.  I think that causes a sour taste.  Let's face it.  Business is business.  

But Amphion has just informed me that they are letting me go because I am not making their line count and its the end of probation.  I don't know if it is all the extra stuff I had to do in the document information screen before being able to type or I'm just stupid, but I have always made like counts before and have never ever been let go from an MT job before or any job for that matter.  I am not going to badmouth them but it is a very bad feeling when I know I did my best.  I'm not a newbie either, I have 9 years under my belt.
