I agree with every point you made, D.
And I love the jagged little pill reference.

The "Bigot"
I have to disagree on 1 point with no name - SM
First of all...Definitely keep trying and talk to your supervisor about what options are available for you! Also try the company forum for some suggestions. Good luck!

No Name said that they didn't think it was fair if you're putting the full 40 hours in, but I disagree, really.

If you worked another type of job and got much less done than most of your co-workers in 40 hours, a company wouldn't put up with that, either. Production requirements are inevitable in this industry, regardless of how many hours are worked.
Disagree with you on the point you
make stating that you do not have to say when you will work unless it is cleared with the MTSO that you work whenever you want to. Common practice is to let them know when you are available and they let you know if work is available. They can deny you work if the workload is low. When I work I let them know when and how much I can take and I am EXPECTED to work the hours I set and get the work done within their TAT.
That isn't the point of this thread -
which you know already. Nothing like trying to change the subject BECAUSE you can't defend your position.
yeah, it is the point of the thread. thinking that
opportunity or training for this field of work so that only US MTs can have it.

go ahead. be an ostrich. stick you little teeny head in the sand and say it is unfair all you want.

you cannot stop other countries from doing business with the US and you cannot stop the US from doing business with them, either.

i doubt seriously anyone crying on this board has really done anything significant about it other than complain here.

Nope...MDI-MD for a long time as well and I have a schedule I have to follow! You've got it made

Well, there you go! You made my point for me!
You come to an anonymous chat board to research potential employers? I suppose you play with Hotwheels when you want to test drive a car? Lick a magazine ad when you want to get a taste of the food? Anyone, including you, who makes a decision on where to work based on the unsubstantiated complaints from anonymous sources on a competitors gripe board, deserves what they get, and would NOT fit in well at SS. You just wouldn't be smart enough. We have the best and the brightest and honestly, your work life expectancy would be two pay periods tops.
You just made my point

Thanks!

You made a very good point.

As patients, we need to be more proactive with our medical records by asking to inspect them every now and then.  I have a close friend who was an independent contractor that tried to get health insurance on her own and was denied by several different companies.  She finally found out that there was a diagnosis of cancer made in one of her medical records that was made in error.  She finally found out that her doctor never proofread his reports and it was transcribed on one of documents, but she had to jump through hoops by providing all sorts of documentation to prove she didn't have cancer.  It took investigation by the insurance companies to bring this mistake to light, but just imagine the mistakes that are not caught because of our medical records not being regularly examined.  I think we, as PAYING clients of these physicians, should start demanding more accountability and accuracy in our records.

From the point I found out about my friend's problem I've been asking to see my medical records at least twice a year.  My family does the same.  Maybe it's time we start spreading the word.

I think I made a valid point. What is your purpose in
My point was that a lot of recruiters will talk up their company when people looking into them inquire about them.  They're not supposed to do it, but it's done all the time.  Anyone who is seriously looking into a company will know exactly where to contact them and TO contact them.  Someone asked a legitimate question and got a rude reply from you.  You got called out and you don't like it.
shouldn't the owners have made it a point to ask
when I switch banks or accounts and I'm not responsible for the lives of many other people.

~~>scratching my head
good grief, you made your point. sm
It seems to me 12-13 is better than minimum wage. Find a new company that pays more than 7 cpl OR as they tell us type more per hour (which is impossible most of the time I know). My point is, this profession is the way it is, it isn't going to change so you live with it, work around it or get into a new profession.
Not to belabor a point already made, but would you like a 15-line...
discourse on the difference between a hyphen and apostrophe? Does that really make your post more or less valid? I try to represent myself my best at all times, but I make mistakes, too. I have never had a breakdown to that degree over an inappropriate apostrophe or seen anyone else go over the edge over punctuation. Please relax.

Comprende?????!!!?????
Yes, MTTest does cut you off if you've made too many errors up to that point.

Have to agree and disagree (sm)
I thought their pay was comparable to nationals rather than low; but I did hate their program, it was very, very slow and complicated.  Screens keep changing and freezing up.  No one could help me.  Most of the people were friendly and nice, just seemed disorganized.  Didn't stay very long.
Ah, well, will have to agree to disagree (sm)
I have read the blog before and my take on it is the same as other marketing blogs I've read; it's not a diary, it's a marketing tool. It's to generate excitement and sell product. I just don't agree that the clues in a blog like that are keys to the person's personal life because it's a blog with a specific purpose.

You're right though about closing the issue and moving on. Time will tell in all things, I do agree with that.
I agree and disagree
While I agree that there should be some sort of compensation for those wretched dictators, I also like to think that doctors like this, who are beyond the capabilities of ASR, are what are going to keep me employed and that remind the clients that having a 'humane factor' preparing a report can make a big difference.
I disagree and agree..
there is no perfect place, but there are way more unhappy with MQ than happy. Their numbers have dropped in the thousands in the last couple years. Not to mention their significant turnaround in PSs, which is a big sign things are *not right* there. Many who have started in the last couple years are happy simply because they don't know any better. Anybody who has worked there for quite a long time has lost money over the years. They may still have more positive things than negative to say about MQ, but they have lost money...which never makes anyone happy.
I agree to disagree - my experience ...SM
I'm from the NE, living in SE so I have a totally opposite experience than you seem to have.  It's cool, no problem here! :)  It probably differs depending on what part of the country one is from. :)
Really? Oh no, starting a job soon that uses that. Anyone else out there agree/disagree?
x
That is your opinion, not mine. So we will have to agree to disagree.
x
Glad you agree but disagree on one thing sm
This is far from a socialist country. Oh trust me, I have many lawyers in my family and you can sue a company who won't hire you if you have disability. These companies are treading a thin wire.

How would someone like it even if they simply had an abortion on their record and a company didn't like that!

I agree to disagree with you. In many fields wages

have not really changed that much over the last 10 to 15 years, however, in my case, as well as many, MANY others, the wages in this field have changed drastically.  They are still changing as evident on the job board most days.  While I have been a MT for over 20 years, fifteen years ago I was making 15 cpl and today I am at 8 cpl.  I feel like I have every right to be angry about this and had you taken a cut in pay as such you would be angry as well.

As far as VR, I have no experience with it and hope that I never do but I am not stupid enough to believe that it will not ever happen.

As far as our jobs being sent to India, if you cannot get pissed off as a MT about this and seriously have no fear that your job will be sent there, then at least as an American and a patient in the healthcare system, you should be pissed that patient's personal information is being sent to another country, as well as fellow Americans are losing their jobs.  All, IMHO.

Agree, but it wasn't the company mentioned in this thread.

Agree with below...too many errors were made
nm
I agree. I was with MQ and made fabulous money and worked for
large universities.  Finally, I had enough and left 2 years ago and never looked back.  It wasnt easy at first learning new hospitals but I am still at that place and am fine.  Actually, I like learning new hospitals every now and then, takes care of the boredom.  Now dont get me wrong, the money isnt as great, but I cant take the boredom.  I lose my focus when I get like that and get sloppy I think.  You just dont watch as closely so every now and then you need a reality check and get pulled back into shape, at least I do.  I focus much more closely on new accounts.
Agree to a point
I agree to a point people should follow their dreams, but it is the opinion of many that is when this company went downhill.  Are we owed anything? Of course not.  But there are responsibilities in owning a business and providing for others, and then there are just downright morals.  You don't blame your loyal MTs for bad quality when we know if it is a quality issue I would put out a guess that it is the overseas work.  I do not want to work for a person that outsourced our livelihood and also outsourced important documents that are vital to life and I personally take very seriously to a foreign country to return subpar work.  It is bad judgment, in my opinion UnAmerican, and irresponsible.  This company has not had a new account in years.  So I am glad you feel loyal.  I am glad to have had a lucrative paycheck  too, but I don't want that paycheck, as hard as it may be financially, based on it costing someone their life because of negligence.  Sorry I just can't give her kudos or my respect for that.  Too bad she did not value people such as yourself more who have stood by her, I admire your loyalty, she lost mine a long time ago.
Agree to a point...
I think some amount of delay is to be expected, regardless of what company or what field.

Whether it's a cashier position at Wal-Mart or an executive position at Microsoft, there are other aps that have to be sifted through. It's just not realistic to expect super-fast responses.

But at the same time, I think there's only so much time that can pass before it's just considered 'bad business.' If I put in an ap and don't hear from the recruiter for 2 weeks, then I have to wonder if that company is even organized enough for me to consider any further...
I agree to a point, but...

Much of the information that can be obtained from the archives is from last year, or 2 or 3 years ago.  Companies change regularly--benefits packages, pay and incentive schedules, and even management.

So while I agree that it is helpful to search the archives, sometimes that information is outdated.  Isn't it better to ask for current information, rather than try to rely on outdated information?

Agree with you on nearly every point; however,
I know from painful personal experience that many of the MTSOs right now, several mentioned repeatedly on this board, are hiring MTs, PROMISING work, denying that there is no work, making false promises about how they will handle any POTENTIAL work shortages, etc.,  only to have us accept the positions, and get financially crushed with NO WORK. That's the only picky requirement this professional MT has - I NEED WORK.  I tell each recruiter that I need a minimum, bare minimum of 1000 lines per day to survive, 5 days a week.  I wish I had a dollar for how many times recruiters laughed at that and said OF COURSE WE HAVE THAT MUCH WORK. Ooops.... that is until I start working. So many times the accounts have run dry, and there is NO work. No work is something I cannot handle, and will not.  So, while I have not done any of the issues you were addressing, like hiring onto multiple companies, I have encountered many recruiters and supervisors and team leads or whatever each company calls them, who guarantee work, only to have little to none. Its a big problem right now, and I suspect its hiring done in anticipation of accounts, rather than accounts. Something is wrong, and its terrible.  No way to justify no work.
I agree with you to a point ....
I have to keep hope that there is that perfect job out there so I am always looking, will even interview but so far have come up wayyyy short.  Gotta have hope though.
While I agree to a point...

Telling a possible client that you think it might be too hard and will charge more is kind of giving them the impression that you're not too good of an MT.

What you can do is give the typical rate and then once you have had the account and you think it might be just not worth your time, you either raise the rate to make up for lost time or you drop the account.

But, to come right at a client with I think you might be too difficult will scare them into thinking you really don't know what you're doing.  JMO.

I agree with you to a point, but sm
think back to the beginning when it was really hard as you say and looking in books, etc. etc. The other poster is trying to make this job sound like it is so easy just anyone off the street can walk right into it.

I agree on the 30 year thing about the OP reports and EEGs that is ridiculous. After that many years an MT should be able to do anything, but to say this is an easy job is kind of silly.

If you have the brains AND EXPERIENCE! That is why it is not difficult for you or I anymore because we have the experience. The OP is trying to make it sound just like anybody at anytime can do this job and make lots of money. Not so! Gotta do you time in the field and get your experience. That is JMO!
I agree. Three months and the best move I made. For radiology, I do not think anyone can compete.
nm
I agree they have WAY over hired, but I am required to work my schedule..you got it made then!

ahhh, I see your point now, agree with that..NM

..

I agree with your post, but I still want to point out
that it is me (and the ones who stood with me) who came out as the winners in this argument.

I corrected definitely wrong grammar (10 times the same mistake in 1 post) and I was NOT nit-picking, whereas I was consequently singled out and nit-picked on by questioning my style, whereas BOTH versions are acceptable.

I can with certainty say that posters who are 100% against me and even started bad-mouthing me, although I corrected righfully wrong grammar, are the MTs with the bad grammar and spelling, refusing to admit their mistakes and should therefore NOT be MTs, because they have generally bad morals.
Unfortunately I have to agree about Warminster. I am not even sure it is stay open at this point in
time. It seems very uncertain the way things are going and I have also heard that the accounts will be going to New York Amherst.
Agree to point, but people need samples and also ability
xx
agree! and when you point the finger at others? time for therapy.
x
nope, not me, NOPE Worked to hard and long to sm
know what I know, my expertise is worth more and constant updating . Keep looking on the job boards. Email and ask if VR, pay for space and lowest to highest line rate for the POSITION (generic question) not I have 20 years exp. etc
Excellent point, and point in case
look at the charlatan christian in the
Whitehouse who uses religion to push his agenda...

Christian IS as Christian DOES...
I understand your point, my point is why can't MTs and QA work together..
being QA doesn't mean you are above everyone else, you are just an extra set of ears...and why do so many MTs take offense to QA??? That is my point...you made have had bad experiences in the past with QA but not all QA are bad...
u made 300 a week? That's more than I made there.
But no work, no pay. Nice ppl, they really are, some of the nicest in the business. Just can't communicate to save their lives and the recruiters are lying dogs.

I'd say if you're looking for part-time work, as in less than 20 hrs a week's worth of work, then this place is for you. Use them as ur backup. Because guaranteed that's all they're using you for.

Actually, I can see your point AND the opposing point
.
Nope
Not yet!
Nope...
I'm already in the process of getting in with another company while I can still make the change because I WANT to and not because I HAVE to.
Nope, they have their own although sm

Nope...
No, it doesn't make it 10.75 cpl. I thought that it might at first, too. Look at it this way: 15.3% (the actual %) has to be paid out of what you make. As an SE, half of that is paid by your employer, the other half by you. As an IC, you pay the whole. So you're actually only paying 0.0765% more.

What I did to figure out which rate was best. SE versus IC, was to take the base rate and subtract the 0.0765% from it. At 10 cpl, that gives you an SE-comparable rate at 0.09235 cpl.
