WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! We turn down work because so many hospitals are sm
calling wanting a company that keeps work in the USA. The trend was stronger a few years ago before it all came to light about poor quality, the woman in Pakistan who threatened to post medical records on the web, 911, etc. There are hospitals who look for US-only and they are the MAJORITY not the minority. Definitely seeing the tide turn on offshore from an MTSO perspective, both MTs and customers!!!!!
so typical
I wasnt fired, I left.  I did what I said, worked my shift if there was work.  I have always had good quality.  Keystrokes let me down in every way you could imagine.  I was lied to, left with no work most of the time, not given the pay they said they hired me in at on some of my checks, my pay rate as well as all other MTs was then demoted due to company problems.  I had bad checks written to me and had a hard time getting that fixed.  Not every MT was a bad MT that left Keystrokes.  Some of us are telling the truth and have every right to say what we post here.
Typical and not likely to get better.

typical
I have not heard this yet, but it is typical of the Flannery's to not share anything they absolutely don't have to until the last minute, keeping everyone in the dark, even eliminating positions without notice via e-mail. This is nothing new for them.
Okay, here is a typical day for me....
Up at 7 a.m., out walking by 7:30 a.m. for an hour, I do a rowing machine for 20 minutes and then 200 steps on a stepping machine and 3 days a week I do another 20 minutes on a treadmill, and another 3 days a week I lift weights. I eat 1500 to 1800 calories a day and I am still over 100 pounds overweight. I eat no candy, no sweets, no chips, no fast food. My thyroid is fine. So now what MISS KNOW IT ALL????? I work my butt off and I still have a huge butt, dang, I guess I am still fat by choice. Oh, and I have done this workout for 8 months now and I have lost a total of 7 pounds. So, once again, KISS MY -SS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know that is a typical response if you have
a negative comment - maybe the issue is you and you just can't cut it.  I was a great employee, it just wasn't the company for me.
Are you a typical TT MT, with that mouth???
x
This sounds like typical DSG to me...
I have been gone almost 2 years and nothing has changed...I would say move on...
That pay is not typical. They are not hiring SM
for the higher level accounts that pay well. They are hiring new people at very low rate of pay. Then you are supposed to work your way up. Actually, my sound quality is pretty good. Still don't recommend because most work goes to India.
It's the typical rate

Typical Ignorance
You have to excuse people like that. The region of the country has nothing to do with crappy MT companies. Wonder why they apply for companies in the south, when it's easy to look up the company and see where they are located before applying? Perhaps they can't read, or maybe they lost their religion.
Typical mentality: TAKE, TAKE, TAKE ..nm

Typical bait and switch
They are nice in the beginning, then you get lost in their shuffle. You get mass e-mails that maybe do not even apply to accounts you work on - to the tune of sometimes a half dozen or so per day - that you are told to read NOW, before you start typing. Trying to get an answer to a specific question is like trying to reach the president himself. They tell you the accounts are good, then you get put on pure garbage accounts where you will struggle to make your line counts.

The thing is, a few years ago when I began with them they were great. It seems as they have expanded, chaos has taken over. I am currently looking elsewhere. Others have already left. Notice how they are always hiring now?!
There are better, there are worse. They are a typical national, and yes you have to pay for the com

A typical 'management' view of MTs. So sad. -nm

Sounds like typical tech
I was warned not to let Lexmark or Windows IT people get into my computer if I ever had to call for tech support - sounds like this guys is the same way. I hate techs who THINK they know what they are doing and just royally screw up your system. They are trained that your system should look a certain way and if it doesn't the first step is to FIX it - problem is fixing it usually screws up your programs. They are setup up that way for a reason!!

Anyway, my time at Landmark did not require logging into anything so that is probably why my time was so pleasant. I'm sorry they can't get their act together on this! It probably is the hospital and the tech person is desperately working with theirs to get it all fixed - but if communication is really that bad I can imagine what THAT must be like.

Sorry it didn't work out, I know you were looking forward to working with them!!
Right it's a typical office job sounds like.
You could always moonlight for acute care and make money to supplement.  That's what I did for 17 years at a 13 dollar an hour job until they outsourced without warning.  Just know that could happen to you at this new position (the work is there one day and gone the next and you are training your replacement), and you'll be fine.  Good luck!
That is not surprising. Typical for how she treats people.

Typical MTSO / Management mindset. - sm

Don't know, but similar to typical and very easy to learn. NM

You're right. You have no idea what I'm talking about. Typical. nm

Seriously, dont let them bother you.. This behavior is typical.
It is normal for some people here to react this way. It would probably be beneficial for THEM to get out of the house to remember how civilized people converse.
Typical holiday at Transcend - no work!

They musta sent all my stuff over to India so they can all get new saris for their next holiday.    Meantime, there goes my lunch for 3 weeks.  Ya happy now Transcend management?  You have managed to put us all in the poor house.  Hope your summer cottages burn and your boats sink.

Is it typical for decreased pay for not meeting line requirements? sm

I know every company is different but has anyone had their pay rate decreased for failure to meet line requirements?  I have heard of taking away benefits, etc. before but never heard of decreased pay rates for IC because of this nor have I ever heard of the pay rate being different for full time versus part timers within the same company.  I have health issues causing my lack of meeting line requirements.  It isn't because I just don't want to work.  I guess this is just another tactic to take money out of our pockets and into theirs like the pay rate isn't low enough already.  Geez by the time I cover my expenses as an IC, I doubt I come out with anything anyway.  I might as well just work for free for the government to donate all my money overseas!

Has anyone ever figured out how much difference is needed in pay between IC and employee to cover average expenses related to the job?  I know standard is 1 cent usually and that does not cover my expenses.

Webmedx work pretty low. Typical for this time of year? sm
I'm fairly new, so just wondering. Having come from the evil Q, it makes me nervous. While at the Q and a couple other companies, this is not the time of year I typically ran out of work--Christmas, T-giving, 4th of July, yes, now, no. Thanks.
Typical year round. They overhire. I left due to lack of
work.  About 6 other MTs left when I did, that I am aware of, due to lack of work.  There are accounts with a lot of work and frequent OT, but I was told they couldn't be worked on as a secondary account.  Made no sense at all to me.
So you work for free? Typical male response, jerk.
nm
"becausse" is high standards? nice. typical of the caliber of MTs they have.

This is pasted from the bottom of the email blast.

Why are you trying to stir up trouble? Keystrokes does not send ANYTHING offshore.

Concerned about the low work at WebMedx over the past few weeks. Typical for this time of year?
I've not been through a summer with them before. My main account, which always had plenty of work and occasional overtime, has been low for well over a month now. I have 2 backup accounts that are low as well. In fact, all my STM's accounts are very low volume. In all the years I've transcribed, I've never had this problem in August. It worries me more perhaps since I'm ex-MQ and consistent low work was a signal of a major downhill turn for that company. Thanks.
SO WRONG

You are so wrong in your assumption!  Although she is not with us anymore, the records need to be set straight.  Shannon has over 10 years of medical transcription experience and typed on every account we have at MDI.  You may have thought she didn't transcribe but that was because she was too busy typing on other accounts and doing the job she was hired to do which was to manage ALL of the accounts.  So before you begin to drag Shannon into the line of fire, please do your research.  She was hired to do a job which she did very well and she will be sorely missed.

Wrong, just someone who has to SM
work with people like you and is really tired of listening to the persecution complex.  I'll bet you have the same problems with the job you have now, right?
Wrong again
Actually, it's y'all - for you all.

Ya'll is for you will.

The contraction divides the words.
WRONG!
Before you start cutting people down, why don't you do a little bit of research on your own? Flossie is not QA DIRECTOR. BS is QA Director. Flossie is QA MANAGER. There IS a difference. And she's a DAMN GOOD ONE at that!!!!
Wrong !!!
She is out of town.
Man, you are WAY out there -- WRONG.
If you're working for MQ, you're getting up to $50 a month DSL reimbursement, not $30.

YOU pay to update your computer??? How is that?

You'd be paying your electricity anyway, unless you live so frugally from the stoneage that you don't require electricity. If you're an SE, you can claim part of that on your tax filing -- if you have a designated room for an office. As well, you can claim any rental fees for equipment -- if you're an SE.

It's your job to make sure what you are typing is correct. Asking to be paid for researching what you are responsible for is as idiotic as saying you should be paid to run spellcheck. Geez.

Virtually every part of the demographic screen is filled in and they provide all the search tools for that. On occasion you MIGHT have to type a patient's name in. Get over your bad self.

If you want to be paid for actual time you spend regardless of how productive it is in lines, then you need a job with an hourly pay instead of production. That simply isn't how it is done. You don't like it? Get an hourly job. Don't like that? Get into a different line of work.
That is where you are wrong...
There are a lot of MTs employed at OSi, so where does this "me along with everyone else" come in to place.  Oh, let me guess...you and all the other smart people?  lol!  too funny
Are you ever wrong about anything?

Opinions are always welcome...if they are not shoved down our throats.  You make me choke.

What is wrong with you?
You obviously do not work for MQ and are very rude.
You are wrong
Nothing is paid for if you work out of Amherst MQ other than production time and PTO time. I was directly told that. No exceptions!
You are wrong.
I work for Diskriter and THEY DO pay for downtime.  They have been more than fair with my pay.  Do not post things that are not true, you are WRONG.
Wrong

I have worked as an Editor for a US company. I am not the owner of a MT company. I did an excellent job there and left because I chose to leave for a better opportunity. The US company where I worked had MT's call in sick daily, yet the HR person was constantly receiving emails from them about the possibility of a raise. They complained about not having enough work, yet when they were offered the opportunity to work on another account, they refused. I know that there are many quality US MT's who care about the level of quality of the work they produce. Yet there are many who are lazy and do not care about the quality of their work who constantly call in with excuses about why they can't work their shift. And US MT's (many  of them) are constant job hoppers. MTSO's have a responsibility to provide their clients with a product. If they can't count on you to work your shift, you leave them with little choice.

My experience since working for a company who offshores has been totally opposite. These MT's are eager to work. They are meticulous about the quality of every report they produce. They are eager to improve their skills as an MT. They are all educated. It's amazing that they are able to produce work that rivals yours in quality and most often exceeds it when English is not their native language. You may not want to hear this, but the truth is the truth.

Don't take this the wrong way, but
I found more than 10 spelling and grammar errors in your post, and that didn't even take into consideration the punctuation errors. Granted, this isn't work so nitpicking isn't necessary. However, why should you make as much as the experienced transcriptionists who are doing the more difficult work without errors? I was at the second highest level at S. and was off QA in less than a week. I did ESL all day long and had three different accounts to learn in less than three weeks. I consistently produce 250 lines per hour on one of my accounts without an expander, 350-400 with the expander.

You tell us how fast and accurate you are, but you're not seeing the whole picture. You can either take on a more difficult account to get a higher line rate or start using an expander. Honestly, I wouldn't take on the more difficult account if it was my choice. You're better off typing faster and using the Expander on an easier account to make more money. Don't they offer an incentive plan for lines produced, too?
My bad. I was wrong.
nm
Wrong, wrong, and very wrong.
All three of the first points are incorrect, won't even go into the rest because they're subjective. Please contact a recruiter for accurate information.
Don't get me wrong...they are very...
nice people.  Unfortunately neither the owner nor office people have any MT experience, and all MTs are expected to not need QA.  For a newibe that can make it very difficult.  Without feedback it's impossible to know if you make an error, and you'll never know what your blanks were.  That makes it very difficult to improve when there are never answers . . .
I could be wrong, but
somewhere sometime I read they outsource work to India or they are an Indian company fronting in the US.   I can't seem to find that info right now.
i think actually you are wrong about that
whuzup w/you?
oh, get over it. nothing wrong with it.
