I'm sure that is why work is so low; they contracted it out so they don't have
to worry about it while they are partying.
The cable company is contracted
with the apartment complex where I live. The complex is more than 20 years old. The cable company did not lay down lines to support internet connection in this STATE (how 'bout thinking ahead, eh?} I can get satellite but most MTSOs won't let you use it.
Apparently, they have contracted with India to work some accounts as they are getting paid less on
these accounts. Obviously, labor is cheaper in India. So, they have to send the work where they can afford to. I know I'm done with them. Pretty soon, there will be no jobs left because these hospitals apparently want cheap labor. You get what you pay for is all I am saying.
The hospital I work just contracted to send our overflow to MDI. I've been watching as our SM
minutes slowly dwindle. Last meeting we had, we voiced our concerns about losing our work and Transcend/MDI outsourcing overseas, only to be told that administration is happy that TAT is being met and so they are going to continue to send work to MDI on a daily basis and we don't believe they are sending OUR work overseas.
My hospital is a prime account to be sent overseas, a medium-sized community hospital, three (count 'em, three) ESL who aren't hard to do at all with the resting being very good, very American dictators, easy to understand. No way would a service give this account to an American MT who could stand to make a good pay check doing this account.
I think the next step is to get rid of us all and send everything out. If that happens, that's it for me, I'm getting out of transcription all together. I know I definitely won't go to MDI for a job, like they would put me on this account where I could pull in 2000+ lines a day.
I've worked too hard all these years to be treated like my knowledge, skills, and education doesn't matter and to be paid peanuts for these skills I have worked hard to acquire, improve, and maintain.
I'm just really bummed today. My job future isn't looking too good right now. I hope I'm wrong.

We're all in the same boat and we all have our opinions. I'm much more wary about this than M.E.D., but M.E.D. has as much a right to express an opinion as anyone else. We don't know what's going to happen but cutting each other down or calling on censoring each other is bullcrap.

First I'm guilty, then I'm defensive.
I'm neither.
I was supporting my TRUTH which is that CBAY employs US MTs. PERIOD.
I have no emotional incentive to add anything to the convos here other than simple truth.
Y'all rant and rave and stomp your feet and I have to wonder how many of you are truly, really GOOD MTs. I've done this job for 30+ years and have never lacked for work.

Why are you MTs???? This is not what MT stands for. Sorry. This is exactly why speech has come to be..yep..it is. There are no more EXCELLENT or even good transcriptionists and so they had to find a program that would cut down in their QA time, etc., for semi-quality reports with a handful of quality and I mean QUALITY transcriptionists. They are to be had no more....say what you want, I don't care. The TV, web sites, etc. advertising you can make 40 grand a year, etc. The schools are packed, nobody coming out with any knowledge. Well, here we are. Blast me all you want. Won't bother me a bit unless you give me your years of experience...

I wanted to share this with y'all
I had an appointment with my doctor this morning and he was ranting about the EMR they use in his group. He said that he didn't get home last night until 10:30 because he was catching up on the EMR computer thing. He says this is an ongoing problem and he felt worn out. If it makes anyone feel any better, he is one who said that he wished they would go back to the little hand held dictating equipment which took only a couple of minutes instead of having to read questions like does your knee hurt? and typing in yes. Do you have limited range of motion? and typing in yes.
I really wonder if when the dust all settles if physicians are going to stand for these EMRs that take up so much of their valuable (and expensive) time???
