There are 2 sets of people in MT--SM
The ones who support themselves and/or families and who need a steady work situation, preferably with decent, affordable benefits...and who will work like the dickens to make sure their production is as high as they can get it in order to make the amount of $ they need. These are the people who need REGULAR PAYCHECKS THEY CAN COUNT ON and we don't care how nice you are if you're not paying us.
Then there is the other set--2nd incomes for the family, don't really want to work more than 1 or 2 hours a day (not dictation hours, total work hours) and who really don't care about meeting production goals or TAT goals. These are the people looking for CARING, NICE, companies who are FLEXIBLE and think it's just great when there is no work as long as their manager/MTSO is NICE to them.
First of all, it is up to the company who sets the
standards and formats for how you do the work. On the VR I use, we have numbering all to the left hand margin. If not done by VR in the proper way, WE as the transcriptions KNOW to change and we do. That is the fault of the person editing to change. VR is not 100% error proof, just like a human is not 100% error proof.
Your employer sets the parameters.
They determine what characters are counted in your lines and how many characters equate to a line.
No, it doesn't cheat anyone. It is set by the values it is loaded with.
it is NOT MDI any longer!!!!! Transcend sets sm
policy, rates and everything else.
the company sets the keys - ask your job. It is not the phone.
I have worked on several accounts via C-phone and each acocunt had it set their own way - similar - but not exact. Companies can calibrate each gal differently as well such as not being able to skip jobs, among other things.
ask you supervisor.
You can have 2 sets of headings in ShortHand, ones that are bolded and others that are plain. I had
accounts like that also, one using bold headings and the other not. For the bold headings, I would put maybe an x or a number behind the shortcut, such as HPIx for bold and HPIxx for without bold, whatever suits your fancy.
From my experience, it is all in how the company sets it up to count i.e. footers, headers, spaces
etc.. I work on another platform but I noticed the same thing when I worked for a company and it would me 12 hours to get 1000 lines, and at the time, I had nothing to compare it to. Then, I thought..this is just wrong. Working 12 hours to make $80 is ridiculous so I quite. I went to work for another company...same platform... and routinely do 1500 to 2000 lines a day and I can tell the difference. You know when you do a whole page report and all you end up with is at the max 40 lines.. something is wrong. I'd say keep the best paying and dump the rest. They are obviously shorting you somewhere.
ALSO, the plumber sets the price. So this plumber/MT analogy

PLUS, a plumber sets his own hours and wages! As far as MT wages,
