No, it's not. 3.385 hours per pay period for your first year and then it

Posted By: TTMT3 on 2007-01-24
In Reply to: It's 11 days per year for everyone - It's not based on any of that as far as I know

goes up from there. I think it ranges from a low end of 11 days in year one to like 25 days after 10 years. Just call them and ask.

3.34 hours per pay period,
and we former TRS people were grandfathered in such that our hire date with TRS is now our official hire date for Transcend, if that makes sense....

However, having said that, lest I be accused of anything I do not mean, I will state (again) that this has been MY experience. I can't speak for any other mergers, where the terms of the merger might be different....
I think its 6000 lines per pay period and 20 hours.....but
s
Webmedx training period. Is it 8 hours a day or...
whatever period of time your trainer designates for those first few days.  I'm starting Webmedx on Monday.  I guess I could wait to find out, but would be nice to know what others' experiences have been.  Thanks!!
6000 lines per pay period (2-weeks) and 20 hours per week that is
Just clarifying.
I just got hired too!! I had sent 3 resumes over a 3 year period and
gave it a 4th shot last week. I guess this time I got their attention because I told them how long I had wanted to work there and that I had tried multiple times. Needless to say I am very excited. I sure hope it works out, that I like my account and platform, etc. The only down side is working every weekend. However, I have come to the conclusion after this interview that I don't care anymore. I just want to stay put and be happy. I have been frustrated since 2006 when the company I worked for could no longer keep me busy enough. I have been trying off and on ever since and have gotten to the point of wondering if it was ever going to be possible to find a good employee position. I know I could as an IC but just not an option right now. I would spend several days researching companies, sending resumes to ones that seemed good, and then be brain dead the rest of the evening. I would get called by companies only to find out their line rate was degrading, or had a horrible platform, horrible accounts. It was always a disappointment somehow. Then there was this one company who blew me away with how disorganized they were. I don't know why anyone would want to work for them. I won't say who I am talking about but it is one of the larger ones. I gave them a chance 3 times because they had ExText accounts but finally gave up with the lack or miscommunication; it was ridiculous. So then I would end up being back where I started, nothing!

I want to know if any MTs out there have gone or are going through the same thing. I just want to stay somewhere for good and never leave until I retire on the beach that is :D I am anxious to get started because I so much want this to be it!!

Would love to hear from any current MDI MTs if they are happy.
What they mean is that your PTO hours do not start to accrue until you've been there a year. The

I have been down numerous hours this year due to storms. 3 times with mandatory

There are probably lots of MTs still down due to Katrina and Rita.

Don't believe weather can't impact your life in a big way.  Be prepared to know what your options are with your job.

part-time IC is 5000/pay period and full time IC is 10,000 per pay period. Need to talk with
recruiter about cpl, I'm sure it varies with experience.
Bare minimum? I make over $50,000 a year in 40 hours a week. That is not bare minimum. sm
Bare minimum would be $8 an hour which is $16,640 a year or $10 an hour which is $20,800 a year. I make more than twice that and that is NOT bare minimum.

I worked to get my typing speed to 80 wpm. I worked to get my Expanders user-friendly and plentiful. I am not the fastest because I look up what I do not know, but I am lucky to have a very good memory so if I type it a few times, I do not have to look it up. I keep notes when I run across something I do not know. I am interested in my profession and read the magazines for our profession and network with other transcriptionists during my free time, devoting a minimum of 2 hours per week to networking and learning new things.

I am not the fastest MT, but I am accurate and boiled it down to simple math. I need to transcribe 250 lines per hour for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. At 10cpl, that is 2000 lines a day x 5 days per week x 50 weeks per year. I take 2 weeks off per year during July to visit my grandchildren (unpaid), 1 week a year to vacation with my husband (paid) and 1 week a year to spring clean (paid). I have worked for the same company for 4 years and 8 years for the one before this.

I treat my work hours as work hours and take 1/2 hour for lunch which I do not include in my 8 hours. I pretend that I am working outside the home and do not answer the door, get the mail, do laundry, etc. If I have a good day and go over the 2000, I bank it in my mind for days that are not as good and make sure that I get 10,000 lines each week.

My W2 each year is consistently $50,000. A few years it was higher, but I worked a few weekends, which I no longer do.

It IS possible.
Sorry, I work 15 hours a day 5 days a week and 5 hours the other 2, when I come here I dont proof.
nm
Why would they give you a choice of 16 or 24 hours. Usually part time is anything under 37 hours.

That is extremely odd. Well they must have something up their sleeves. Well I will be working elsewhere part time as well as with MQ as I have no intention of sitting 40 hours with no work from Amherst and be expected to have 150 lph with no work. What is all this window of work time they said they would be giving everyone. I figured all along they would do away with SE. I have already been looking around and ordered a new computer  to send theirs back.

Any companies that allow line count rather than hours or less than 20 hours per week? (sm)

Wouldn't mind having something extra especially with Christmas and general winter expenses coming up but working a FT job and really don't want to do another 20 hours on top of that.

the day has 24 hours, I work only 6-8 hours, so, lots of time to post...nm
nm
my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Must we choose either 8, 16 or 24 hours. Why would they want someone only working 8 hours a week.
That is less than SE are required now.
MDI-FL. Approximately 7 hours a month x12 months =84 hours
And your PTO acrues from day 1. You are just unable to utilize it until after 90 days. They have excellent benefits.
You can have insurance at 30 hours with Encompass, 32 hours with eTransPlus. nm

10-15 an hour for 8 hours is better than nothing for 8 hours when there is no work.
x
Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)
x
You do not get PTO for 16 hours a week. 24 hours or more for the PTO. nm
:
That's exactly what I was going to say. Yes, I work at least 12 hours a day, sometimes 15 hours
to get all of my line count in because I have so many interruptions in my day.  There is no way I would tell my company this nor expect them to pay me OT that they never asked you to do. Unless, I was called by my supervisor and asked to work extra for OT, I would never just take it upon myself to work and expect to be paid.  If you were not authorized to work OT, then your not getting paid. Point blank. I do not work at TT, but I have worked at enough jobs, at home as an MT and otherwise outside of home, that all have the same policy, your paid OT when your asked to work it. It's it is just a case of not being able to get your required line count in 8 hours, then maybe your in the wrong profession or possibly just the wrong company/account for you. This just seems bizarre to me. Just tell yourself, your not getting paid for OT because they aren't approving it so don't work it. Again, if you were asked to work OT, told it would be OT, and then they ask you not to record it, I'd pitch a fit, but from what I see, you've done this on your own.
? 13.33 for 3 hours ($4.44 hours) am I doing it right. Geez!!!!!i
.
Why would anyone work 8 hours a week. The poster above said 16 or 24 hours a week.
:
Well, you can tell it is the last day of the pay period.
:
16,000/pay period
This is for 2 weeks, correct? You are able to transcribe 8,000 line per week; I can only currently do 6,000
You can always tell the end of the pay period is near.
:
That would have been $73.53 less than MQ last pay period for me n/m

About $9/pay period or you can use yours
/
Per pay period?
xx
PAY PERIOD
12,000 LINES PER PAY PERIOD OF 15 DAYS, NOT PER WEEK, AND THAT IS ABOUT RIGHT
but pay period
It is like 9500 lines for part time and 12,500 lines for full time per bimonthly pay period
I do 16K to 20K every pay period sm
These last 3 weeks have been terrible for work load. I cleared 16,000 for this pay period, but it cost my body. I worked evenings helping out when there was too much work and and had to hunt and peck during my shift. It was Spring Break and anyone who does much acute care will tell you, work is SLIM during that time. I still got my lines, however.

Regularly, and I work 1st shift, I get about 1500 to 1650 WITHIN my shift. I don't have a lot of normals, but I have an outstanding expander. I am reaching for 18K every 2 weeks, but I am not quite there. I have not been with the company 90 days yet, I am new.

No , only about 10.00 a pay period
nm
not $50 per pay period ... sm
What she meant was, the computer is a $300 deposit, it is taken out over 6 payperiods at $50 per pay period. After that, there is no fee for the computer and if you leave and they get their computer back, you get your $300 back. just wanted to clarify.
End of pay period!
That's the way it always is. MTs don't make their line count so it waits until the end of the pay period and then they gouge what's there. It's not right but that's what happens.
10,000 by the end of the pay period - sm
so it does not matter how much you do a day, they just want 10,000 lines in the period for FT, 5,000 for PT. I have assigned accounts though, so no pool, I do what comes in on a daily basis, always of 10,000 lines usually about 12-13,000, but some of that is edit at .03 a line.
Must be end of MDI pay period
Little to no work in my primary.
Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

Then you weren't there for the last pay period which should be DD on the 5th and was not done unt
x
It's $20 per month, not per pay period.

7 or 8 cpl, period, forever. nm

With JLG, You pay $12/pay period for overnight. nm

Family is about $240 or so a pay period
Including dental and vision.
she said period v. semicolon

Period v. semicolon.  Comma should be here or there or not.

How common is Pay Period at net 30?
Was made offer to start with a company, have to work 30 days, then pay is net 30!  That's 2 months without income.  How common is this?  I  know they're are not going to pay until they get paid.  Yikes!
11,000 a week - do u mean pay period??
x
How do you do this Jo? In an 8 hour period? I believe you, just want to know How!
I am with Keystrokes and I can't do it. Hats off to you. What platform? I have seen fast typists do this before.
No holiday. It's the end of the pay period sm

Nearly always low the Monday beginning the new pay period. Never fear, we'll be buried by Wednesday again.

11,000 lines per pay period. nm
