I wasn't hired for 1 work type, but told them I like OPs so that is what I am assigned. When I r
out of ops, I usually stop unless we are out of TAT on other jobs because I do not want to take other people's work. I do not think I should get paid less for that.
anyone hiring at better than 8cpl with 1 yr of experience?
I have 1 year of experience as an MT. I would like to know if it would be possible to find something making better than 8cpl or at least a position with benefits at that line rate.
You must not be one of us who logs on their assigned shift only to be told...
to stay off the system as the work is too low. Nice thought though. I'd really LIKE to do my job when I am supposed to but I have no control over when they tell us ot stay off until the afternoon and you sit there prayer there will be work then.
work pools
When are companies going to wake up and realize that placing their MTs in pools and giving them a different doc each only cuts down on their productivity and increases their errors? I have been trying to find work for over a month now and I have had plenty of offers but they all want to stick me in a pool and they say when you log in you get who you get to transcribe. How in the world do you get good or fast at typing for someone when you have someone different each day. I think this is the dumbest way to run things and I am hanging on until I find a company that will assign me my own 2-3 docs. Anyone know of a place like that? And another thing, are there any companies out there anymore who actually do doctor's office notes instead of clinics or acute care?
work pools
Phoenix does not assign work. The work is always the oldest work out. I have been with this company since they started and since starting on the Inscribe platform, work is taken in order, which is always the oldest work. Once a new MT's is trained on an account, they are moved into the pool as any other MT, so for the first week or so of training they will only be on one account and that is why an account may disappear that was newer to the pool. Everyone gets the good with the bad once they are off QA.
Which companies have work pools...sm
I am curious. I would like to find a place to work part-time that has a pool, and when I don't have work at my other job I can do work there. Any ideas?
MTSOs - Why work pools? - sm
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be more feasible to assign exclusive doctors to MTs, rather than have everyone type out of a pool?
Would it not be better for the client, as well as the MT, to eliminate the pools? Would it not result in higher production because of familiarity and eliminate cherry picking?
Any thoughts out there on this?
TT gives you primary and secondary, how do they do work pools? sm
Do you get primary one work type (BORING) or do you get a fairly good mix or how do they set it up? TIA
assigned work
Any MTs out there been asked to do overtime on a specific account and told this was mandatory and then when the time came to do that account were given something else entirely? How frustrating is that especially on a Friday afternoon when you would rather not be working anyway! It is also bad enough that the account they do give you has the worst audio in the world and keeps breaking up. AHHH!!! Sorry, had to vent. I have pretty much had it!
Well, as an IC assigned work
That's one reason. Another reason is that its usually first in first out. If suzy Q is sick that day, who will do her work? All of the other employees have their assigned work to do, so where does that leave suzy Q's dictators? Just out of luck?
If the work is not assigned to you, then someone is cherrypicking...nm

assigned work followup
I would not have cared so much had I not already worked a FULL month of overtime. Also, it was radiology which I cannot stand! If I wanted to do radiology I would have kept my other job. Not only are these short and do not give lines, they just stink. Just my opinion. Sorry all MTs who like doing them, I do not.
How does assigned work = employee?
I have my own clients. All that work would be considered assigned work; there is no one else to do it but me. And as for the MTSO I work for (and the individual docs, for that matter,) it does not matter what they assign me to do, they just cannot dictate how I get it done or the hours I work, right? I want to be totally clear on my understanding of this. Thanks.
You are assigned "x" amount of minutes every day, you work that out between the
two of you. IC status. Pay is on time every two weeks, but there is a long wait before you get your first check. After that, it's smooth sailing.
I work for Keystrokes and have assigned doctors. I'm very happy. sm
I believe you can get overflow work if your doctor does not dictate on any given day, if there is any overflow work on that day. My pay has always been on time. I highly recommend them.
Can you say where you work if you get assigned docs/accts.? I'm tired of this pool garbage/left
s
Easy platform, assigned accounts, always plenty of work. Great OM and boss. nm
That is my experience..I too will soon quit and have told...sm
Dorothy I simply must have more work, more accounts, something but get the run-around..always saying things will pick up, this is a holiday slump, etc. This is NOT a holiday slump unless the holiday started in September! Really bad situation and I am aggressively looking for another job.
No, I haven't been. I told my true experience of working for that company.
I don't have a negative attitude. You're the one who can't handle it when someone disagrees with you.
I have 19 years experience and was told the same thing. I think their test is incorrect.
x
8cpl
I hear the pay starts at 8cpl so how is that above average?
pay even at 8cpl is
insulting anymore if you have mega experience. All these companies want tons of experience but want to pay junk....they are better off going to india....come on we live in the US. The sad thing is that these companies probably charge the clients 20cpl.
They pay older longtimers 8CPL and
Also, you will be paid only half that when you are switched over to VR, which all accounts will be in the coming months. Also, no incentives for hiring date after November.
They had an ad here in Jan. for ExText users at 7.5-8cpl. Applied twice and never
s
question...is 8cpl with spaces fair market pay
.
Company typing pools
The company I currently work has auto pooling and typing pools. This is the first time I have come across this term. Would somebody please let me know what this entails? It sounds like a bad thing. :(
Thanks for the info - are there set schedules, account pools and is there
a weekend requirement? You have been very helpful. Thank you!
Typing pools versus first in, first out, what is difference?

I was told Escription would not work with Vista. Turned out it wouldn't work with my sm
Office Basic Edition 2003 either, but no one could figure out why, it was supposed to.
There is actually a section on the Dell website that offers Windows XP. I haven't checked it out as I'm not in the market, so I don't know if it costs extra. I have a Dell and it's been fine for me. I hate the ESL tech department, but it seems like most of them have that now.
Here, here. Exactly my experience also, even down to the 10 year work experience. nm
:+
yes, but I was told as an IC that if work was slow ICs get no work since they are nto employees
nm
That'd me the day someone told me I HAD to work OT.
MDI-MD told me it would work now. nm

ICs being told when they can and cannot work
With being an IC, the only requirement I had was I had to commit to a certain number of lines per day and they had to be completed between 1:00 am-11:59 pm of any given day. Some tried to pin me down to stating approximately what time I would be working daily, but since I am an IC and I cannot give an hour-by-hour commitment each day, I usually gave them a time frame of when approximately each day I would probably type the work such as anytime after 2:00 p.m. and before 11:00 p.m. However, they do expect you to make your daily line commitment.
An IC CANNOT be told how to do her work. Would

IC cannot be told I need you to work between 1 and 5 but they can say I need these lines by

I was told I should be glad to work for 6 cpl w/ 5 yrs exp
I told her to off this job to someone in India.
Her response was she had people glad to work for 6 cpl with ONLY 5 YRS EXPERIENCE.
She should be able to afford ONLY 9 CPL . You would think anyway.
lol
You will be told that you can work remote,
And, there are a number of excuses that will be given as to the reason why. Pay is not toooooo bad. Would not go there. There are better jobs out there. Best of luck to you.
I was told there are no more accounts I can work on
and am getting sporadic work. I LOVE this company too, and they pay for down time which is incredible, but the work comes trickling in so I cannot claim no work, but it is just enough to keep me going.
Talking to IRS about how ICs are told to work
I wanted to let you know about what happened when I tried to talk to the IRS a few years ago about a fraud that I knew was happening, had all the information. This pertained to a woman scamming section 8, food stamps, welfare money (living with a guy with a city job yet claiming no money). Her children came to live with me for 2 years. I took total care, housing, food, etc. with no money from her. I claimed the kids on my income tax for those 2 years and come to find out her boyfriend also claimed the children on his taxes (remember when at home they were on all kinds of welfare and he probably was claiming them then- this is against the law and called double dipping). I got information from a tax preparer at my home, not mine, wanting to know if filing and called the place, found out he had claimed them in the past and then I contacted IRS. Oh, I also got notice from IRS that I was one of 2 filers who had claimed the kids! I had all the social security numbers, names, birthdates, all that I needed. This scamming on their end went on for several years and do you think anyone interested or would talk with me? Nah, nothing. No one contacted me or their parent. When I see the rah-rah about turning these companies in I am reminded of what I tried to do with just wasting my time in the long run.
Where I work we were told we HAD to get our lines in - sm
So right now many of us have been camping out at the computers fighting for every line we can get. Not sure I am going to last much longer at this pace.
When I asked about less and less work, I was told
that no MDI work is being done by Transcend because they have no access to the MDI platforms / clients. It was suggested that the economy may be taking its toll.
I did not. My assigned account kept
running out of work, and I wasn't trained on a secondary
although I asked. I agree with giving notice, but the workload on the account was so minimal that I probably did them a favor. BTW, everyone was cool about it, and we went our separate ways without any drama.
No choice, it is assigned, & just happens to be less
presents itself, I sometimes cherry-pick as well. Especially if it's late, I'm tired, and my line count isn't what it should be.
assigned doctors
nm
Who is the lucky one assigned
I work from a pool. I love it. I can pick and choose or I can sit all morning and take nothing; that's IC.
Now as an employee, assigned dictators could work but what if that dictator is on vacation for two weeks? Do you get someone else's lines and take work from them?
It should really be first in first out. I have my own accounts and I guess considered a small MTSO. I do the work myself though - no subs. If I had subs, I'd have them do first in first out even if that meant a different dictator every report. That would be fair for TAT.
If you want just one particular dictator and then the work runs out for that day, do you then start taking Suzy Q's work or do you sit and wait until tomorrow?
Do you see how this can get really hairy for an MTSO? They need the work done within TAT and can't spend that valuable time worrying about whether or not you are familiar, making the best lines for your pocket, etc. It's not in this business to worry about the MT, the MT worries about themselves and how good their skills are and can perform the job handed to them.
One of the reasons the hospital I worked for outsourced was because they were tired of the work getting backed up when one or the other of us lonely 2 transcriptionists God Forbid needed a vacation day or two or three or maybe a week or two.
I'm not trying to bash you, I just want you to think about their side of things and how no one would want the mumbler or the ESL, so how is that fair to that person who is assigned that ESL?
assigned docs
On my account, I have one doc that I am assigned to. My main priority is his work for that day. If other MTs are out or busy, I can be asked to help them out. It is hit or miss. Last week I did 10,000 lines (my hands were killing me) just helping out for the MTs on vacation.
The other account I work on is a pool, so I go there when I am done with my assigned work. This week, my doc is out and I am only working in the pool. It is backed up and getting further behind, and it is mostly very short jobs (20 seconds), so I much prefer my other account.
I understand there are some new docs coming on, so hopefully this will pick up.
I love having a few assigned docs since I get to know their style and makes my job much easier.
How do you get to work for both. Spheris told me it was conflict for me to have another job.
Especially with a national company. They wouldn't even talk to me about why I should leave MQ for them as long as I worked for their competition. How did you swing both jobs. I know MQ doesn't have a problem with me taking another position but Spheris was anal about it.
What?? they have asked you to work the account but never told you how much your pay is??
Sounds strange to me.. They would make me nervous as that should be the first thing they discuss.. or at least that is what I would want to know right off before I wasted my time with them.
I work on one that does not need high speed but have been told sm
that there are very few like that.
I was told when they needed help and that is when they expected me to work
so it is possible she was told what days and times, as that is pretty much what they said to me. Then work was never available during that time slot and so I opted to move on.
