Busy does not mean disorganized. I would rather work for a busy company sm
than one with no work. I started with Keystrokes 3 months ago and it is the best thing I ever did. I have a steady paycheck and plenty of work.

great for you. Some of us have to work and work these shifts to survive so don't knock those of us that do. also don't gripe when you aren't working at all.

It's sometimes a struggle with biweekly pay when something unexpected comes up, but I'd never survive on bimonthly. Ouch.
Trying so hard to survive here and need VR advice
I have recently started with a company and they do VR. It's requiring a lot of retyping. I think someone who is not conscientious might make a little money because they can rip through it and not fix things..................but I am fixing everything and being very careful. I am about to quit...........but before I do.........I am wondering if I could just ask for more pay. I do not hate the work. I hate the money that I'm not making.
What is the rate for VR that a company should be willing to pay to someone with excellent skills?

the line rate, the line production requirement not JUST whether there is work at night, which shift etc. It is the LINE RATE OFFERED. Does not matter if you even have plenty of work on whatever shift if it pays pennies a line.
1000 lines a day, 125 lines an hour, say 4 cents that is $40 bucks a day,
5 cents a line $50 bucks a day ($6.25 an hour)
They are going to require much more, if not, get a letter, plus lose insurance.
They will want more like 2250 lines a day at 4 cents a line, at $90 a day x 5 days equal $450 a week ($900 per pay period)
THAT IS 281.25 LINES AN HOUR PEOPLE
I cannot image that on Beyond TXT platform (or any other). I'm WORTH much more.

what they make. I am totally burned out on broken promises, dreams and expectations when I have taken jobs. Recruiters hype their company up but then they never live up to it. All I am asking for is a job with regular work every day when I am assigned to work and decent benefits. Is this impossible to find? Have any of you found such a thing? If so, let me hear from you.

Well, it looks like we have about 5 years to survive in fhis industry if all goes as they expect it
will. Of course I remember 15 years ago IBM said everything would be speech recognition within a few years and here we are today getting into it. They will still need editors believe me. The mistakes are phenomenal that I see by speech recognition unless the doctors who keep making less and less will now take their time to read the reports. Yeh, all they do now is work all the time as insurance companies keep reducing pay and the government.

No the driving force if the MT in transcription. Without the MT the technology couldnt survive.
I have done enough ASR, etc. to tell you that there is no way that technology could survive on its own or any other technology that we have today as well. The way these people dictate I guarantee you there will always be a need for MTs. There arent enough doctors now to go around. Do you really think they are going to sit there and type the reports or care how they look. They are working twice as hard now for less money.
Why worry about it
If you know it wasnt you, why worry about it? Just let it go and then you cannot be accused of stirring the pot. You dont work there anymore so dont concern yourself with it. Just let it go so that it can be dropped.

I'm sorry that the OP is having a bad experience, but mine has been just the opposite and wanted you to know this. I never run out of work, quite the opposite actually. Also, I have found the management to be nothing less than professional and kind. Good luck in your decision.

it all depends on the account you are working on. I have 1 account where I can do 2000+ in 6 hours; but on my second account, I can't get anywhere near that.

I have known the lady that started this company from scratch and if anything, she is honest, reliable and dependable--she would let you know if something were wrong and/or if you were in need of worrying. They are a very talented team @ TransTech.
That's something I worry about...
I worked for a smaller company before and when the work dropped, it dropped like a rock. I am just stuck as to whether to accept the job or go with the larger national. This is for editing.

TTS pay is so bad that their employees are from the bottom of the barrel. No good MT would work for them, couldn't afford to, so no company is going to keep using TTS because of poor work quality.

My accounts were all out this morning, but they are picking up pretty fast. Yes, you can work a holiday even if you are not scheduled and still get time and a half for all typed.
Should I worry
The company I work for offered benefits. Employees signed up and no word on the benefits. Now an email stating the benefits are there and have been there and we will pay back for the previous month. There was no way to use the benefits without the information so what is a person supposed to do?

I'm so sorry to hear this, but try not to worry too much. I know, easier said than done when the bills start coming in. There are many, many jobs out there though, and I think you will find something even better. I left Amphion a while back and am very happy with my new employer. Start applying and don't give up! They are looking for something you most likely should not worry about.
This is a criminal investigation which all hospitals conduct. They could also do a drug test anytime, you know. I do not believe they care about a normal person's skeletons. They are looking for stealing because we have their equipment mostly. I know because I have undergone these checks and worried too, but that was unfounded. Don't be silly and quit a place where you have worked for so long or that you like. They are not nosing in your past at all. They are simply contacting government agencies, etc. to see if there are outstanding arrests, etc. Now, if you are on the lam, well, then...
MT2, don't worry about it...
Their ads are good. If you aren't familiar with them, it is perfectly natural to think it's a great opportunity for some new person. I have never worked for them but I have heard over time how they use the new MTs and never give them a chance to earn any money.
Working inhouse is the nice coperate world... coming here is like coming to a street fight, a lot of sarcasm, got the claws out a lot. it is okay to research a company, look at the job board and maybe help out a newbie as you were trying to do but don't stay long enough to catch the sarcasm virus.:) Oops, my time is up. Gotta go...catch you later.:)
Oh I do worry....
And like I said, I help out when I can, but sometimes I just need my day(s) off. I don't know what else to do. I just cannot literally work every day of the week. I will work several days in a row, but it gets to a point where I need a break. I don't know what else can be done here except maybe offer an incentive for people to change their schedules to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and have the rest of the week off. I think there are a few that would go for it and it would even out the coverage.

Two of my accounts are super busy and two others are moderately busy.
Very busy
I work for 3 companies and 2 out of the 3 are very busy. One is slow but I just use that money for free money. You have to keep looking. There are companies out there that pay their people a halfway decent salary and have work. Am I making what I made 5-10 years ago, no, but I can pay my bills and have money leftover. I am also looking at a fourth company to replace the slow company as I think they are probably losing the acct I am working on. Keep looking, there is work.
I have been as busy as I can be. There has been
overtime available the last 2 weekends and enough work in the system to not have to check back later in the evening. If it weren't for the fact that I got the flu over New Years and it is still lingering, I could have really cleaned up 
I do know somebody starting cherrypicking my primary at my last job. I would have to sign in at midnight and hope my favorite surgeon was up late dictating to get anything remotely lucrative. Otherwise, there would be like 40 echocardiograms in my queue. When I asked management about that, they said the census was low. Funny, I guess people can stop in and have an echo anytime they want as apparently no one has to admit these people or order a cardiology consult on them.
These managers don't really get that you know your account and WORK FLOW forwards and backwards after sitting there all day, day in and day out. I think you may be right to call that BS as I pretty much knew immediately something was going on with my account.
Can't worry about the future right now...
My mortgage is not due in the future, it is due in the present. I cannot cut all my bills by 40% until Transcend figures it out so I have to make $ to pay my bills now--not later. Worry about your own attitude
MTs raises, bonuses, TV-habits and/or chat room time are between her and her supervisor and none of QAs business. And if MTs want to share on an MT board their positive or negative, past or present work experiences/pet peeves that's also no business of QAs and neither is it their place to ''approve'' or ''disapprove'' with their condescending nasty tirades. Get off your own behind, worry about your own nasty attitude, and go ''check'' something.

The thing is, they are great to work for. Don't concern youself with what if just deal with that if it were to ever happen. We have seen lots of MTSO swear they would never sell, yet money talks so you just never know.
Worry about quality - not LPH
I know of a girl who can type triple the number of reports as other MTs, but it is obvious that she does not proof read her reports because they are full of major errors. That could be detrimental to patient care. If you're fast and accurate that's great, but you need to be concerned about quality above all. Once you are familiar with the dictators the speed will come.

Sorry about the corny phrase. No, I don't think yo have anything to worry about. They wouldn't tell you you were hired and then just forget about you. It will probably show up today or tomorrow and be well worth the wait. I have been here since September, and just love the people there. I have absolutely no problems or complaints. Don't worry about taxes
Contact your state attorney and see what they say. As for taxes, if they withheld them but DID NOT send them to Federal or state, as long as you had proof that they paid it, you can still count it when doing your taxes. They will go after the employer for what they withheld and did not pay to the federal and state. This has happened to me before and they went off my W2 forms and not what was actually sent in.

eScription means about 90% VR and 20% typing IF you get 20% at all, may be 0% typing. ...VR on eScription sucks......have to kill yourself to make a decent line count and even editing 2500 lines at 0.03 cpl is ONLY $75. When I see eScription in any job ad, I just pass it up cause I know what they want MORE VR and LESS or NO transcribing.
