No, I am not paid any flat rate and I told that recruiter

I gave my notice, but he continues to ask me. Of course, I have not given my notice and will see how this job plays out. One thing to note is the recruiter claims I have a great account that many would be happy to have. May be he is worried about fabrication.

My account has an 800# but I have a flat rate plan because of sm
my college kids and it is only a few dollars more a month than not having it. I set it up as a business line with unlimited long distance when I started with KS at their suggestion. It only costs me $54.99 per month and I have kept it because of the kids. Long distance charges aren't like they used to be. I used to pay $400 a month a few years ago with a different company. This is so much better.

I cannot get flat rate plans in my area...SM

I presently use One Suite but am reimbursed.  I used to use Vonage but it does not work well with the account I am presently on.

Does Transcend pay a flat hourly rate
If so, how much?
You are aware that other companies pay a flat ASR rate? sm
Some pay as low as 2 to 2.5 cpl for ASR editing. With Webmedx your rate is based on your pay - and some MTs are making considerable productivity increases (40% and above) using Webmedx ASR, so they are actually making as much as straight transcription.
These are the times I wish I was paid a flat fee

Hello,

Just wanted to vent.  Work has been slow on my primary account and I have been juggling around about 4 different back up accounts.  Sadly, for the last 2 days, I have been on a particular account in which it sounds like this woman is dictating through a pillow.  I mean she almost sounds like one of the Peanuts teachers.  There are so many blanks in my documents, because I just CANNOT hear her!! Even the QA said since I am new to account that one of my documents had some blanks, but even she couldn't understand what she was saying.  Needless to say, it is taking me almost 45 minutes to do a 2-1/2 minute to 3-minute dictation.  I am so irritated and angry.  This is really cutting down on my production.  Not to mention my que is filled up with this SAME dictator.  Sorry I had to vent, but these are the times I wish I worked for a flat hourly rate.

Webmedx pays a flat training rate for 3 days. nm
.
No Long Distance Charges...they pay flat rate phone plan or use internet
..
Here is what the recruiter told me
A few weeks ago I was offered a position with the Baltimore office for their "big" oncology account. The recruiter told me they start all transcriptionists at 7.5 cpl but after 90 days you would be moved up to 8 cpl. She also said that they now have a production pay plan that would pay 7.5-8 for the first (I think it was 700 lines); then 8.5 for for 701-1200; 9 for 1201-?; and it would go on up to as high as 9.75 cpl depending on lines produced. I turned them down because I thought that 7.5 or even 8 was low for someone with a lot of experience in oncology. I was very disappointed to say the least...especially after going through talking to them on the phone, then testing, then waiting for them to get back to me (which took forever) to see if I even passed. I thought I hadn't made it through the test and was really down and out...then after all that I turned them down anyway.
The recruiter for KS told me I
Lanier Voicewriter.  Haven't heard back from the recruiter lately.  She must be busy doing other things, trying to make ends meet.
That is what the recruiter told me.
I talked with 2 MTs that told me they were making 10/5 cpl for night shift. They were hired as new grads straight from Career Step back when they had the Focus on the Future program. I asked the recruiter about it, who confirmed that is what they pay for night shift. I have also seen others on this forum post that that is what they are making. I would be inquiring about why you are not getting the night differential when others are. Sounds like you are getting screwed.
Recruiter told me the don't outsource
And supposedly they are hiring me because they are getting a huge account with 6 hospitals. Any more info on them - I need to let them know tomorrow and don't know what to do. It sounded good, but now I'm worried.
another thing, recruiter told me about this
wonderful account that rarely had an opening because the MTs loved it so much.   I had worked on this account when I was at YOG so I knew how horrible it was.  After talking to the TL she told me they constantly have openings because the account is so difficult that they can't keep anyone on it.   I'd only believe half of what the recruiter tells you.  The recruiter is the one who denied the offshoring, the TL was the one who told me they did and also told me they offshored the good stuff.
I was told by recruiter that about 80% were now internet nm
nm
The recruiter for Axolotl told me
nm
ITA. The recruiter told me how lucky I
was that they had an opening on this wonderful account.  Said the MTs just loved it and there was rarely an opening (A.V. in CA).  I had worked on the account at YOG and it was HORRIBLE!  When I talked to the team leader she told me that it was a very difficult account, that they couldn't keep MTs on it.  Fortunately for me I already knew how horrible it was and turned them down.  I wouldn't work for a company where they lie to you before you even get your foot in the door.
Recruiter told me they do pay for spaces...sm
The black and white line did confuse me a bit though.
I was told by their recruiter that they outsource off-shore.
x
I was told by recruiter they pay gross line
nm
No but just talked to a recruiter who told me VR jobs pay

Recent info told to me by recruiter...
Requiring minimum 700 lines a day, 5 days a week, and the weeks must be either or Sun-Thu or Tue-Sat. Past workers only had to commit to 2 weekend days a month but new hires must take a weekend day each week.

This seemed to be as low as a person could go for weekly commitment, unless I misunderstood.
S/l Precyse. The recruiter told me how lucky I

was that there was an opening on a particular account because all the MTs just loved the account and there was rarely an opening, it was a great account, yada, yada, yada.  They mentioned the name of the account and I had worked on it several years earlier with another company and it was a horrendous account with the absolute worst ESLs I've ever countered and I like doing ESLs usually.   I then talked to the team leader and she told me it was an extremely difficult account and that the MTs hated it and they couldn't keep anyone on the account.  She accidently let slip too that they offshored and that the best dictation went offshore and the garbage stayed here for the US MTs.

It was fortunate for me that I knew about the account and I turned down the position.  I don't know why they coudldn't be up front about it, because no way would I have stayed past day 1 with that account.

Dunno. Recruiter told me 8 cpl w/sp. for 1100 lpd, 8.5 cpl if you do 1400 lpd. nm

I spoke with recruiter 3-4 wks ago and was told mixed acute care & clinic, no ops exclusively. Low

Was told training was not paid
I spent a couple of afternoons training on the system but told it is without pay. Footpedal was sent - did not have to purchase. Been there a few weeks. The pay is above what other companies offer these days, and they pretty much leave you alone to do your work. I can definitely see the possibility of making decent money on the system I work on that does not cheat you of lines like some other companies are doing out there. I know a lot of us have been deceived on this board with recruiters cruising by here. By the time we realize whats going on we've already given them a couple months' of work. Believe me when I say, I am just another MT giving my totally honest opinion on this company - so far so good. More updates later.
I am not a recruiter and I do not get paid to say nice things. I just like working for sm
them. Is that so wrong? I have a lot of work, I like my account, I get paid well and on time. That's 4 for 4 in my book. I have not found that anywhere else.

Their ads do not say 9 cpl for everyone; they list a range.

The equipment is not ancient. I have an internet count.

Why do so many come on here to b**** and moan and tell half truths. Unless you experienced it yourself or know facts, why spread things?
Avge rate now 1.00-1.25. If you can get paid
for links, you will make a lot more money. If you are looking for radiology, try Keystrokes. I have worked for two hospitals that went to them and also for three other services that do rad, but KS paid the best and had the most rad work by far.
Except that US MTs don't get PAID a fair rate -nm
.
...would make more if you got paid a cpl rate! nm
s
Hired by Cymed and told they did not pay for spaces, but paid for headers and footers. Just did a

check on the line count, and not only do they not pay for headers and footers, they also pay for 2 lines less than I typed.

MQ PTO: Do the packets say how PTO is accrued, or if it still paid at average rate? nm
nm
What does "DOE" mean on the job seekers board for the rate to be paid?

You only get 3 holidays OFF per year. PTO is paid at a very low rate. There is 401k...sm

But the company match is only up to 2%. Employees are required to work at least 1 weekend day every week.

All of the hospitals/clinics have a lot of ESLs, that's just the way it is. But a lot of them also use canned normals, which we love.

There's a lot more to consider than how much the medical plan costs.

Futurenet AQ not paid by report any more? Going to line rate.

sucks

If your hired at an hourly rate and you run out of work, then you dont get paid anything??
Just saying, you worked a total of 3 hours one day, ran out of work for two hours, then for that day you only get paid 3 hours? That would suck and it wont pay my bills.
do you find being paid per the minute pays better than per line pay rate?

Thank you so much for your help!

This is not true. I have been there a month and get a good line rate and paid for spaces. ??? nm
nm
I AGREE COMPLETELY! I'd rather be paid a consistent, respectable hourly rate
nm
That is a flat-out lie.
I happen to work for that company in the QA department, and we do not dock lines for sending to QA. That wouldn't even make sense. We're also paid by the line -- so you're saying we cut our own pay just to spite the MT? That's crazy. To the OP -- don't believe everything you read on a message board. This poster was obviously a disgruntled ex-employee.
It flat out says
in the BL that things will stay the same as it pertains our accounts, pay rate, and benefits for the near future. I could see why someone would be worried. I had to read the BL myself after reading the other person's posting as I had not read over it yet.

To each their own I say. Everyone has different life circumstances and has to really assess things and make a decision based on their life situation. I think it is wonderful that there have been what I consider a lot of postings from my fellow MTs and to hear different view points. Unfortunately, I have only really heard 2 that are the total opposite to what I would consider an overwhelming majority.

That is a flat out bogus lie.
First, they don't have to give ANY reason and can let you go -- it's called employment-at-will and it's how virtually every state in this union operates.

Second, working "off the clock" is NOT FREE LABOR for MQ. They are still paying you. You simply are not eligible to receive benefits. You also have advantages such as not having to follow any certain schedule and not having to work any certain number of hours...only a line count minimum to make per payperiod. There are pros and cons of both.

While both types of positions work in conjunction with one another to help MQ function, it is the employee position (NOT the SE positions) that give them their greatest strength.

Get over your rotten attitude and stop spreading lies.
They flat out lied to me then. They said
they do not get any kind of pay at all. Hmmmm....
They are upfront with the pay, flat 0.08 cpl with benefits...
incentive of 0.0850 at 1800 lines, 2000 lines 0.090 cpl.
They flat out refused to take out mine.

One of the many reasons I quit.  (Obviously, from the posts on this board, I quit just in time.)

My condolences to those of you who were treated badly.

One of your premises is flat out wrong
Even as a receptionist, a person with experience will indeed be started at a wage much greater than a person with no experience. Had you done any research before making that assertion, you would have noted that almost every job posting states that salary is DOE (perhaps you aren't familiar that acronym- Depending On Experience) or other ads that will state salary commensurate on experience.

When I started in the field many years ago, I started (and trained) in-hospital. Even that, based on a prior Career Step that had given me a bit of a leg up. However, I still had to start at the bottom. It would be several years before I caught up wage-wise with people who had no edge on me other than a couple of years seniority.

So, frankly, I do not believe that a fresh MT should be making what I make with over 20 years, even if merely for the fact that I will not require the company resources in the form of QA that a newbie will, and because the years have enabled me to type across the board instead of needing to be spoon fed from the same bowl of chowder every day.
But if you flat-out think someone SUCKS, you should quit. Do everyone a favor - sm
you can't be doing a good job for the company if you obviously despise them.
Very large line count is a red flat to QA
In the previous company that I worked for, I was typing 1600-1800 lines a day.  I lost that account and was switched to a new one.  On the new account there were ALOT of templates in pain management (which I transcribed).  If they were not already there, I made my own.  My line count went up over 2000 lines a day consistently.  First thing you know, I started getting audited - and often.  That was fine with me because I got 98, 99, and 100% a couple of times.  Did you line count go up significantly like that?  Now if you are making critical or major mistakes, they are going to keep a check on you.  If it is punctuation, just take note and don't worry about it.

Yeah, right. Heard this before. They flat-out consistently over hire.

for MQ STAT employees tier rate applies to ME rate as well and how calcluated?
for a STAT MQ employee:  Does anyone know if the tier rate is going to be applied to the ME rate as well or are they going to go with the 80% of the MT rate for each tier level?  If the tier rate doesn't apply as well to the ME rate then going by the 80% of the MT rate is less than if the tier rate would be applied.  I'm sure that MQ is going to go by whatever keeps money in their pockets.  Guess this is a question for the supervisor tomorrow.
