I applied to them too, but the person who called me was incredibly unprofessional on the phone so I thought, thanks but no thanks.

NightOwl did it again :(
It has been one of those weeks. Maybe I should actually be taking the time to read my post before I post it, while I can still edit it. I end up reading it afterwards again anyway.
Sorry everyone.
The first sentence of the second paragraph in my last post really doesn't sound very good.
Lets try, I am also going to be trying the blank and go back suggestion. Does that sound any better? My brain is so fried. Good thing tomorrow is Friday.
I hope everyone has a super (spelled it right this time) duper weekend.
You are so right NightOwl!!
ICs act like employees and they treat us as such. We are supposed to tell THEM what WE charge and what WE have to offer. Not the other way around!!
NightOwl, 350 lines is doable....
and without compromising your quality. Sure, I still probably have errors on my reports as I did with typing. Not huge, but if and when I reread, I do find little errors, but no different than when I would proof a whole report that I would have typed. Now think about this for a moment. When you started transcription and you were only typing 100 lines per hour, you probably asked I am just not sure how I could type 200 lines without compromising my quality...well look you have!!! Same concept. You will get better and better at each day, week, month. I started VR probably last fall. Now at first my line count was the same; it didn't slow me down nor did it increase my speed. Now here we are about 9 mos later, and I am probably making $200 more per pay check. Still after 9 mos, each and everyday I find little tricks here and there that increase my speed and I am still learning. It is a skill just like any other that will get better with time. I am no expert by any means, I wished I could edit at 500 lines per hour, but I can't...but I am improving still. Good luck!
I completely agree with you NightOwl....
After getting away from MQ, I am finally trying to get out of the financial mess I am in from sticking with them after pay was lowered years ago to 5 cents a line for their wonderful ASR. So far I love the new job, and I just have to get my line counts up a little more, but even with the lower line counts, the pay is almost double what I was making at Medquist with 11 years of experience. I think it is very insulting when companies offer such low rates to any of us especially transcriptionists with years of experience.
Don't mind NIghtOwl, she obviously missed her meds today. nm
