You would think a professional would use the name of her company sm
and not a moniker to post with, plus like the other poster, I am not sure as a potential employee I would need to know about her 26 surgeries (26?!!!). I think I'll pass.
Then you need to be professional, give a company website than can be checked out sm
and let people apply there. Why in the world would you expect people to get their personal info to you, if you are less than professional yourself. I certainly would not, especially after your post here.

Could you share the name of the company
either on the board or privately? I only ask because I'm currently looking for some fill-in work and have been doing some tests. They're involved and take time, as you know, and if that's all they're offering after all that, I'm wondering what company because I want to steer clear. I have a test sitting waiting for me to do it, but maybe it's the same company?

I share your grief over the same company sm
I finally decided that since I need the insurance at this point I will keep a part time job. I have been spending so much of my day waiting on work or stuck in something that doesn't make any money. I think they hire so that everyone can only have their minimum and nothing more. The push for speech is really getting to me, especially since the program is not very good. I keep hearing how I can double my income if I will just move to speech. Hardly. Then again, I am the kind of MT who sets up the document, but once in it I can put my foot on the pedal and rarely take it off. I can type much faster than I can edit a voice document. Add to this that the voice stuff is not actually being edited at all and it looks like what my pup leaves in the yard.
I found a company whose philosophy is that VR is a joke and they won't be going there. I start this week and if I prefer it, I'll find my own insurance and go to work for them full time. Seems if you work full time you don't have to work weekends there.
I was one of those who praised this company and I apologize to all of you. I wish I had kept my mouth shut.

We take a job expecting some semblance of constancy. We are not teenagers living at home.
And I have yet to meet an MT who does this for free, as a hobby, 40 hours a week.
Here we are, in the U.S., where insurance is expensive, the economy is mutilated and dirt cheap labor is just across the deep blue sea.
Some whine more than others but this Gourdpainter, I have been reading her for a long time, and from the tone of her posts, she is not a (an?) habitual complainer. She is helpful and considerate in her posts to new MTs and others who have a question.

Just like the coal miners back in Pennsylvania, the company will let you eat coal dust all day long to save themselves the cost of ventilation, and then fight to not have to pay for the medical costs of an aging coal miner with black lung and ashen colored skin. No one made him go down there, I know, I know, but a man has got to feed his family. Work is work, you take what your skills will get you.
Fair enough - Some huge corporation is going to sue someone over a thread on the internet. This is about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Have you read message forums elsewhere on here? There are disparaging remarks made about everything under the sun.
Word of mouth travels far and wide, and so does the truth.
So give us a break and let us make enough money to live a respectable life in this job which we do with steadfast dedication if we make it over 3 years.

that with you all so that if you are not happy, realize there is hope out there. I worked for Healthscribe/Spheris for over 2 years until I found this position. I am a SE for MDI out of Maryland and I make 10 cents per 65 character line including spaces. This is a great smaller company that does not offshore. I am left alone to do my work but I have somebody there if I need any questions answered, etc. QA is wonderful too. They didn't dump me into an account full time, they let you ease into your account over a 2 week period doing 5 reports a day so you can work your other job until you are taken off of QA. I was off QA in a week. My account is great, the platform is great (Bayscribe), production Expander is user friendly. For all you unhappy MTs, there is hope out there.

I believe you always should leave a company on good terms. Of course, on the other hand, if work is super low and they wouldn't feel the pinch if you left, I think less than 2 weeks would work. I had to do this at my last job. I gave them a week's notice because I just could not afford to work part time at a company where I was promised full time.

Found the website www.yoursafeandhappyhome.com. Then if you Google the lady who runs this site, you will see she is targeting SAHMs with all kinds of different WAH jobs. Tons of red flags on this one for me.

Just curious if anyone can tell me if it is hard or not to get your line count in for OSi. I'm currently in the process of taking the tests for the job. I am working for MQ right now and it's horrible with getting your line count. I make it, but I have to work my butt off to get it. I was forced into MQ and now am trying to find something better. Any information would be much appreciated. Also, what's their pay like? Thanks a bunch!

When I talked to the recruiter she said they paid for spaces. I worked for a company that did not pay for spaces now and I am not going to go that route again I do not think. I think the pay for on the low side too for my years of exp. She told me FT and PT get paid the same and only the third shift makes more. Insurance was not bad and it compatible with what I am paying now. The only thing that was told to me was 500 lines for PT. I think I will ask more questions before I fill out paperwork. Actually, I did run my own transcription company (sm)
I had 4 girls working for me, plus I did the transcription, payroll, getting the tapes and delivering them to the girls and delivering the transcription - yes I did not have digital.
The girls got what I got right across the board. I never, ever took a cut from them. I incurred my own expenses of gas, phone. That was it. I worked out of my home and did it.
As an IC, you have the right to charge what you think the job is worth. Do you shop around for a better price when having repairs done in your home? Do you automatically take the cheapest one? Or do you take the one that costs more, but has the experience and the know how to get the job done and get it done correctly?
That is my point. The MTSOs say they cannot pay above a certain amount when in fact I would bet that they can. Think about it. Not in a stressed out kind of way, but just think about it.
Professional Transcriptions

I also work for Focus Infomatics, I mean worked. I have been working for months. They payvery poorly 6.5 cents per line. as compared to other companies, that is very low. Also they trick you into thinking it is a transcription job, then they tell you when you are trained, that you are going to be doing editing, without giving you a choice. I am very disappointed with them. I also thought they were good in the beginning. They are not very professional. I would not recommend this company to anyone who is looking for transcription work.
I would think you would know, pay should never be discussed with anyone - not very professional.
