How is the sound quality for their files - clear, poor, okay? And is their new platform easy to work on? Do you have to submit a schedule and stick to it, even though they hire ICs? How are their hospital accounts? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Are you sure the sound quality was the platform and not your sound card? Also, I don't know of ma
services that pay "down time" if the platform is inoperational. ALL software has its share of problems. It's the nature of the business. When you were hired, did you sign a contract accepting the terms regarding PTO? If so, what could you possibly complain about since you did, afterall, sign the agreement? Did you have a good relationship with your QA Editor/Team Leader that you could ask questions about account specifics?
My understanding of the VR is that it has been in development for a number of years not to be released until the fine tuning was complete. It would seem to me, and I am in no way affiliated with Transcend, that provided that VR is good then earning a line rate as an Editor would be beneficial, if that's how Transcend is planning to compensate.
All in all, I would say that if anyone is interested in working for Transcend or any service for that matter, make sure to ask the services Recruiter specific questions. If what you're hearing sounds good and makes sense, go for it. If what your'e hearing is not all that you thought it would be, move on. However, you MUST take what you read on forums boards with a grain of salt. While some posts regarding various services may be legitimate, others may not be.

they use an FTP site to transfer work - I use IpSwitch - a little different than most platforms, but i like it. I believe the pay is by line - I don't do radilogy so can't be sure if it's different from clinic.

Anyone know what platform NEMT uses? Is it user friendly? Do they have a large number of ESLs?

Sound or Platform?
What are you having trouble with the sound quality or the format of the test? I just took it and it was a huge pain in the *#& because I had to keep stopping and rewinding and switching windows by hand. All I can say is give yourself plenty of time, try to catch everything, and then go back through and listen again a few times.
Yes, the sound quality is definitely the platform.
Over the past few months they have had post after post on their own company board regarding the bad sound quality and all the problems the VR software has been having. They rolled out this platform WAY before it was ready and expect the MLSs to just deal with the problems while they "work" on them. These same problems have been going on for months. So yes, while we agreed to terms on PTO, we only earn so much PTO per pay period, which is not even close to the amount of time lost due to the technical problems. It is one thing to accept employment and realize that the company doesn't pay for downtime, but any reasonable person would assume that the downtime would be short-lived. Not months and months as this has been.

Maybe I should apply with your company. I need an efficient platform with hot keys and easy access. That sounds great!
The fact is, if you think the sound quality and platform at Transcend are great, you have not had
many other experiences with "sophisticated" equipment or companies. Heavens, their idea of big cutting-edge technology is being able to have a drop down list to pick from dictators, though that was an incomplete mess. Defend it all you want, but they are not cutting edge at all. Definitely a step back in time for lots of us, and who wants to move backwards, slower platforms, working off paper lists, manually filling in demos, and horrible sound quality, for LESS money? No thanks!
Again, if you think Transcend is state of the art in the areas of sound quality and/or platform,
then you have not used high quality equipment before! There is MUCH more sophisticated equipment out there now, even at smaller MTSOs. Even Larry himself said they are "working diligently" on improving the sound quality. Perhaps you should let Larry know that the sound quality is WONDERFUL - he must be mistaken and misinterpreted all the "MT feedback on poor sound quality"...Who do you think you're fooling???

Does anyone have any info on NEMT aka New England Medical Transcription? I'm a newbie and am considering them. The pay is low but I really want to get some experience on my resume. Besides the pay, are they good to work for?

I currently work for NEMT - and I think it is a very good company. They DO offer direct deposit, and pay is NEVER late. The cpl is not great (7-8 cpl), but the work is very easy and no stress.

i currently work for them and I love it! no pressure. I can't say for the ortho accts though I work on clinic. If you are able to get on with them you will appreciate that they don't bug you about the little stuff. Just get the work back on time. Pay is rather low but stable and I've never had a problem getting my money. They have direct deposit. Excellent company to work for..

Let me say this was last year so it may be different now. You had to download the daily schedules with the demographic info. in them. (This was downloaded separately from the voice files). Then you had to match the demographics up with each sound file and type it in the report.

I worked for them briefly, about two weeks last year. There was no training. They use Winzip. The people were nice, but you had to download schedules, etc, so the demographics took lots of time.

They use VPN. Then you go to their FTP and download PDF file, Word Document, and the zipped voice files. No training, lots of QA, nice people, low pay.

Easy platform, pay always on time, low ESL, extremely nice owners, easy docs. The downside? Poor start-up instructions, my supervisor was nasty and didn't like questions, many days of no work available, re-recording quality very poor at best, and often work was 3+ hours late being loaded. This would be a very good job for someone looking for a very small salary on the side for supplementation. Very, very wonderful owners. I would recommend them overall.

I also tested with this company and heard nothing back. I don't know how long it normally takes to get back to someone. They send the test Friday, I did is Saturday and sent it back.

They told me that up front. I would recommend working for them. Once you're off QA they don't bother you at all. I work late at night get my work done, get paid correctly every time and I'm not bothered by anyone. Everyone there that I've encountered is very nice and helpful.

I have to put in my 2 cents and I would agree with LinK. I currently work for them and I absolutely love them. Its true that clinic work is paid at .07 cpl and hospital is .08 cpl. I personally work on a couple of their clinic accounts; the dictators are great (very few accents to deal with), once you get off QA you have all the flexibility you want as long as you get the work they send you back within the 24-hour turnaround. I've been there going on 3 years now and will not trade them for the world!! They do tell you up front that you don't get paid until like after the 2nd week, but once you start getting paid, you always get paid. Never late. Never a bounced check, and they will send you an email on Friday to let you know what your pay is. The fact that nobody is calling you to ask why aren't you working? and I see you're scheduled to work at such-n-such time, but I don't see you on....blah blah blah doesn't happen here. Just do the work they send you according to how many minutes YOU want...its wonderful....

I just took a test for them, rather extensive, for a QA position and they didnt get back to me so I asked and they said I didnt get a high enough score for their company (that is what I was told anyway)

I currently work for them and I am very satisfied. Pay is always on time every week and there have never been any issues with my pay. I have no complaints.

Not worth applying at, system funky, pay scale low, and unorganized staff. I worked there for 8 weeks and couldn't take it anymore.

I worked there for several years and never got a raise, stayed at 0.07 cpl. Could not make enough to get by. Work was ok, not great. There is better out there.

NEMT is a great company. I am an IC so I have a 24-hour TAT; work my own schedule. Wonderful people. I think they offer quarterly QA bonuses but not sure.
