What I would like to know is how long the American people are going to believe everything they hear. NAFTA is so great? My husband, a Teamster truck driver, had a bumper sticker on his truck back during the signing of NAFTA. It said, NO NAFTA, THE JOB YOU SAVE WILL BE YOUR OWN. Yep. Now they're about to start those big rigs roaring across the Mexican border. Guess what that's going to do to American truck drivers? Not to mention the Mexican trucks and drivers aren't going to be held to the the same safety standards as American drivers. If you think that doesn't affect YOU, when was the last time you shared road space with one of those 80,000 pound monsters?
I refuse to shop at Walmart. Americans are going to pay a heavy price for that
cheap imported crap, which really Walmart isn't much if any cheaper! Walmart has done a real good brainwashing job. Speaking of which, how long has it been since you saw the signs in Walmart that said, Buy American? Right. Now they say, bring it home to America. Get the meaning?

It is sad to see all of our jobs (not only medical transcription) going overseas. I know quite a few people who have lost their jobs because of it, and have had a very hard time finding a new job. It is sad to see so many homes that are empty because of foreclosures. You wonder how many more people will have to lose their jobs and homes before someone wakes up and realizes what is going on and put a stop to all the offshoring.

NAFTA was implemented for the good of those with deep pockets and by that, I don't necessarily mean big corporations but those handfull of filthy rich that run the country and not just this one. They are your dozen or so OLD families that have been around a long long time. They run the Federal Reserve. Keep in mind, the US borrows billions of dollars from other countries. AAMT cannot discriminate because of this law (I asked them years ago). I think 50% of new MTs being from India shows their determination and pursuit of excellence; perhaps American MTs need to follow their example and compete!
