Excuse typo girls and boys
OOP not OUP that would be.

Oh, I am playing with the "big boys" and have been doing this for 25 years darling!
You do not know it all, though may think so! I was just trying to let you know, some hospitals will honor your invoicing methods and pay you on time. Now, that may depend on whether your invoice goes through the purchasing department as a vendor or through the department in which you contract.

Can you say, "not an authorized representative", boys and girls?

I used to have a QA guy that couldn't transcribe, couldn't fill in a blank,

but was anal retentive when it came to punctuation.  You would have a report with 10 blanks in it because of poor sound quality, and he wouldn't fill in one blank, but he had put commas all throughout your report, or taken apostrophes out, etc. and he wasn't correct in his punctuation a lot of the time.   Several of the MTs complained about him and asked to not have him do their QA, so he was demoted from QA to an MT.  Well, as I said earlier, he couldn't fill in a blank.  I saw a couple of his reports and there was blank after blank in reports that I had no trouble with at all.  He also didn't proof his reports because he would have inapproriate/incorrect expansions in them.  Not sure if he left on his own, or didn't really have a choice.  Anyway, talk to your supervisor.  Maybe this person is just on a power trip, knows you are new and wants to train you to do it her way, even if your way isn't incorrect.  I think punctuation is a valid issue, but if it doesn't change the integrity of the report and there are no other errors it shouldn't be flagged by QA.    You could also take into account her corrections and maybe try to use a few more commas, etc. and that might help.

Oh, I couldn't understand them. I didn't try them all, but the first couple, I couldn't und

Overtime out my ears at WebMedX (sm)

I get 9 cents a line and there's a tiered incentive plan.  It's something like 150-160 lph they add 0.5, 160-170 lph they add 0.75.  The top is 300 lph, where they add 2 cpl.  I've consistently earned the top incentive pay, making great money.

I was a little worried the work would get low when I saw all the ads lately, but maybe the ads are because they got new accounts.  It gets maybe a teensy bit light around the holidays (like 5 minutes without work).  I have tons of backup accounts and almost every day I have the opportunity for overtime.

I'm a FT employee with benefits.  I'd rather have someone else take care of finding accounts, setting up benefits, etc.  Couldn't be happier, really.

We used to call it "putting our ears on"

Years ago when I worked for an insurance claims adjuster we spent 6 of our 8 hours a day typing reports.  We loved it.  We called it putting our ears on and didn't have to worry abou the rest of it, and more importantly had an excuse to ignore the moody boss.

I personally have always just typed fast.  I've been clocked at 120 wpm.  I got faster sometime in 2006 when I started communicating on message boards on a regular basis.

Some days, though, no matter what you do, your fingers will not cooperate.  And on the days the fingers cooperate, then the brain doesn't engage.  And on the days where both are working in harmony, then the keyboard doesn't work.

It's a conspiracy.

the 'number' of ears does not matter, you have
'excellent' hearing in 1 ear, so you are perfectly suited for this job!

Keep your eyes and ears open. I have worked
for Transcend in the past, as did several of my friends, and we had a really bad experience.  MQ was better, which says a lot.  Hopefully things have changed now and they have improved their act, but things were horribly mismanaged a few years back, horrible accounts with cherry-picking, supervisors and other leads telling untruths, etc. Biggest point I remember was huge favoritism. I happened to be one of the favored ones, just by luck of the draw, while my friends were not as lucky. Again, just a bungled mess and we all left within a few months.  I believe one of my friends still has their computer. They never even noticed she was gone. That sort of nonsense. Best wishes to you, though.  Maybe you will be treated well since you are part of a business deal.
To all of you who have complained about QA and it has fallen on my deaf ears...sm
I FLIPPING APOLOGIZE!!!!

I have had the mother of all run ins with QA today. This is a new job for me, I have not been happy, but it is a job, you know?

I can't imagine I have made that many stupid mistakes! I don't as a rule. I have had a tough week, it is true. I have been sick, had some family problems, etc. but this takes the cake.

I had the doctor say: Scratch that, use... QA corrected to include the scratch that sentence. Counted me off. Lovely.

We have BOS specifics, company style guide and account specifics. Apparently, the QA person didn't read any of these and corrected my work to reflect BOS 1 style, when we were told to use BOS 2. Okay...

She corrected properly placed commas.

She added words that the doctor didn't say to make it sound better. We can't do that, it is V-E-R-B-A-T-I-M verbatim. She corrected for past tense on a doctor that never uses that and is an ESL, so his language usage is not what we would call correct, exactly, but he makes sense in a round about way. Gotta type what he says, right?

EVERY SINGLE STUPID REPORT was overly corrected, incorrectly corrected, had things that are incorrect in the BOS, the company guide AND the account specifics...

I have not had this much of a run in with QA in about 10 years and I am livid. I know I have typos here and I am not making sense, but I am so angry, I have tears in my eyes.

I had a friend, a former MT, tell me that what I have here is a situation where someone of inferior intelligence, less experience than I have who is vastly over-correcting my work because she is on a power trip!

Any suggestions?

Keep your options open, keep your ears to the ground

PMT Kentucky
I worked for PMT Kentucky for a short time. You have to have a C-phone. They supplied me with one, and they were an extremely great bunch to work for. Pay was on time, people were really nice, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I say apply if you have a C-phone. It is a good company to work for!!!
Anyone with exp w/ PMT in Kentucky? Am considering applying there. Thanks! nm

Try PMT in Kentucky. They have an ad on the job board.

The announcement on the job seekers board seems like a pretty good deal for IC, has anyone had any experience with them?  I tried an archive search but didn't come up with anything.  Thanks in advance for any info you have.
SecureMTSource out of Kentucky
anyone work for them.  They apparently are now MD-IT.  MD-IT is taking over in-house transcription at my place of employment.  I have been offered an at-home position with MD-IT.  Can anyone tell me from SecureMTSource what they have been like to work for.  TIA
iNSCRIBE - Kentucky
I have been contacted by this company...and was hoping for some insight.  Good/bad/disorganized.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  TIA.
If this is InScribe, LLC, out of Kentucky (sm)
In my opinion, it would be better to look at a different company.

You said you would suggest looking at another company, please tell me more. I am already having issues and haven't even confirmed I was taking the job.
Someone was asking about Inscribe Kentucky? sm
I will be honest, I have only just started, but there are some things I can tell you.

I was informed today that they pay for headers and footers AND spaces, which I didn't ask up front because I have not been paid for these things in years, I thought no one did.

They set you up with a mentor to help you learn their ins and outs, so you have a go-to person, which I think is very helpful. I have, at this point, spoken to both the owners on the phone. They were helpful and pleasant.

While I didn't ask about how many accounts or how many MTs, I believe them to be a medium sized company. They are transparent about who their MTs are and there is a contact list for all of us that we all get. That was different too because most of the places I have worked they really discourage MTs talking between themselves.

There is no IM required which means they don't pester you with instant messages all day long.

This is all I know for now, but it is better than the nothing I was finding out about them.
Inscribe (Kentucky)
Any info would be appreciated regarding this company.  Thanks for your help.
InScribe LLC (Kentucky)
If you have experience working for this company, could you please share how they are to work for, i.e., platform, anything at all you can think of would be of help.  Thank you very much.
Advanced is not in Kentucky

I think it's in Arizona, but anyway.  It's not a bad company to work for.  The only thing is you have to be on pager and give them a schedule yet you are an IC.  The pay is not too bad.  The work runs out and they put you on another account.  The platform is horrible and takes a lot of time to do demographics and such.  There is also patient lists that are pages and pages long.

I can't really say anything negative other than they hire ICs, but you have to tell them when you'll be working.  They may be more flexible now, who knows.

Funny, cause they are based in Kentucky!

Kentucky MT - I'm not sure I read the post
correctly. Are you saying that you would get upset if the hospital you were working for sent out the BAD work??? If so, I differ with you big time. I work for a hospital and the first thing we do is send out the crappy dictators. The outsource company is paid way more than our transcriptionists are and therefore, should be able to handle the crappy doctors AND do QA. We, of course, send out other work, but first and foremost go the worst of the worst dictators.

I'm not sure if I read your post correctly, so I was just curious

love the weather but the cost of living is high so my pay with my job versus your pay with your job might just equal out and weigh even. the good thing, though, is when we have meetings, we do the conference thing from home and use it as downtime.
hold
Anyone ever experienced having a hold put on a check they received from the company they work for?

I just did. The company said the funds have been released but bank still shows hold. I asked for another form of payment as I didn't want to wait for the hold to come off or possibly find the check returned and they actually had the gall to say, no-one else has had this problem. My reply, that's great for them but this is my situation. They also said, we just sent another check. Just what I need. Another worthless piece of paper!

Checks always late anyway so time to start job hunting again.

Why did they hold them out??? Did you

What degree do you hold?
I hold a bachelors in psychology and I wouldn't trade my education for anything. By the way, I've left MT and now have a great career in a completely different field thanks to my bachelor's degree. I'm now working towards my masters.
Hold my hand??? sm
How about returning my calls instead of hiding behind the answering machine!! How about answering one of my dozen emails!! Give it up Lee. You're just making the obvious more obvious.
Don't let that hold you back
I never paid $25 to get my check delivered via UPS, and I got it the following Tuesday.  I believe they're mailed on Friday.  FN is in CA, and I'm in CO.  There are no guarantees on mail service, but I wouldn't let this hold you back.  Are you considering part time or full time?  If you're considering full time, why not become an SE and get the direct deposit?  You only have to do 12,000 lines per pay period as an SE.  May be worth checking into!  Good luck!
