I did let them know what my needs were. It is really too bad too, because they are nice people and the pay is good. But, if the work is not there, then it does not matter what they pay is, because 10 cents a line times 0 is still 0.
I also tried working funky hours for them, getting up at 3 a.m. or staying up until 2 a.m. That just is not productive for either of us. I still ended up having to sit at the computer waiting for the work to come in.
Also, they ask you to give them a calendar of what your daily line count will be and if there is someone who says they are going to do x amount of lines and they do xx, and the work is slow, then that takes away from the other people and I do not feel that is right. If someone was to go over their comitment, then they should go to their secondary account and do that.
One other thing I did not like was it would be so slow and everyone was scrambling and fighting to get their line counts, then 2 weeks later they would get bombarded and we could not keep up and they would threaten to hire other MTs if we did not work 24/7. As an employee, even statutory, that is not right.
So, when it is slow, you get another job to make up for the slow time, then you get bombarded and can't keep up, so then you have a decision to make. Either have 1 steady job or one that fluctuates to the extremes. Personally, I need the steady income. I remember there were 2 weeks when there was absolutely no work. I just cannot do that.
