Merely suggesting

Would you mind not using the Lord's name as a swear word in your posts? It is highly offensive to many of us who worship Jesus Christ to hear His name used in swearing, plus of which is it flat-out unprofessional.

Are you suggesting we add VSM... sm
(for Very Small Message) to the mix???
Then, of course, we'll need VLM for Very Long Message...
and MSM for Medium-Sized Message.
This is what I am suggesting..
I have read other companies ads. In some cases, they state what they are offering and others do not. How about this. If you do know what another national is offering, let them know. Give them the chance to see if they can/will match it. If you have a preference for PTO, again let them know your preference. Suggestions never hurt; however, threads like this posted here will also never do any good for the employees. Again, this is just a suggsetion only, but it might, or might not, at least be a starting point to improve the benefits.
Well thanks for suggesting TT!
We MTs here appreciate that you tried, anyway!
Hmmm, are you suggesting
you never make mistakes?
And, are you really suggesting that someone submitting a resume after the deadline - thus not following directions will not be able to follow any directions?
Strongly suggest you re-read your posts and ask yourself if this is the kind of impression you want associated with your company...
You may have undermined yourself by suggesting sm
that the doctor might not be happy with your work, either. An experienced MT with high-quality work would not balk at this challenge. Personally, I'm always eager to tackle these guys as I know they're paying attention and appreciate quality. (It makes it more worthwhile.) These are the dictators we should respect and admire, and not call them difficult or demanding.
When you told your company it probably was not a good idea to put you on that account, you were kind of doing their job. That probably did not sit too well.
The best MTs are bounced from account to account to keep the clients happy and keep the quality spread around. This is not to be taken as an insult. We work for the company, not the account. The doctor probably had very good reasons for being unhappy with the work produced. Too many newbie MTs are relying on Google alone for their references. Their work screams it, and they are doing a great disservice to themselves, their careers, and our profession. They haven't a clue yet as to how great their errors can be. This is where quality training, education, experience, and use of proper references come to play.
A good, well-rounded, experienced MT can transcribe pretty much anything that comes through the queue--provided the dictation is CLEAR ENOUGH. That's really the bottom line. It takes time to learn the individual dictator's idiosyncrasies, but the terminology should not pose a problem to the experienced.
Hope this is helpful. I wish you the best of luck in your job search!
But that's not IC is it? The company suggesting a time I mean.
If there are turn around times can't you work anytime then? I don't know what to suggest, either work weekends when you do not have to or find a new job? But is there true IC anywhere where there is work all the time on your chosen days and times within the TAT. Or are all the companies like this? I'd certainly like to hear feedback on that.
Jennifer, I'm suggesting Spheris. SM
Only because you need experience and you can get it there. The pay will be awful, but they have a system for training people, with mentors every step of the way and on-line courses and sample reports. You could work there for 6 months or so, to get your feet wet. Or hands wet! LOL!
Again, I'm only suggesting this company for anyone who needs experience.
They used to require several years of experience for acute care, but, at this point, they are taking anyone. Give them a try.
