Alas, I do not give sewing lessons. (Smiling here.) My mother was a seamstress and I learned to sew by watching her. It came in handy, too. I put myself through college and had very little money and actually made my own winter coat each year. Lining, inner lining, bound buttonholes--the whole schmear. Of course, now it would cost far more for the materials (to say nothing of the time it would take) to make it than buy it. Sewing has truly become a luxury! It used to be just for us poor folk. I take an isolationist view of all of this. I say, CLOSE THE BORDERS and STOP OFFSHORING, and cancel all of those H1B visas or whatever they are called until each and every AMERICAN has a job first. (Needless to say, my hero is Patrick J. Buchanan, but I fear I an veering off into politics here and will save it for another venue.) For me, it all comes down to American jobs for American workers, bottom line.
