Mark off a 65-char line. Then take random
Posted By: sm on 2009-09-02
In Reply to: No my math is fine - stillmting
sentences from your reports. Then count the spaces. Or you could put it in Word and use the tools to average it out. The average of spaces per 65-char line is more than 10. Try it yourself rather than just believing what you've been told.

I see they pay on a VBC line. Isn't that a huge paycut from a 65-char. line with spaces? nm

I have been working for almost 2 years.
They are paying 0.05 per 65/char line for VR nm

55 char line with spaces
Ok guys how does a 55 char line WITH spaces = to a 65 char line. I was offered 8 for 55 char line with spaces and counts underlines, bolds, hard returns etc.
55 char line with spaces
Is 8cpl for a 55 char line with spaces and double counts for bold, underline, etc a good rate. Sorry, but i am used to getting paid for a 65 character line. What does this equal out to? Does anyone know how to figure it out. TIA!!
ya, it was a wierd char/line...sm
you are sane in my book, if that counts LOL
8.5 cents per 70 char/line with spaces
Does anyone get paid like this? Is this good?
Is a 55-char line without spaces good?
Does anyone know how a 55-character line WITHOUT spaces would compare to a 65-character line WITH spaces? Which one is better?
Paid for 55 char black line...
Can anyone tell me if they get paid this way instead of the 65 w/ spaces? If anyone else does, can you tell me roughly the difference it makes versus getting paid for spaces?
Thanks
The average 65-char line has more than 10 spaces.
Your math is flawed.
Sounds like a gross line though, not 65-char.
Don't know if I misinterpreted the ad, but it might not be too bad if it is a gross line depending on dictator style. If there are a lot of short lines like on my current account, it could work out really well. I would actually make more at 6 cents per gross line than I make at 8 cents per 65-character line. Comparing the last report I just did, I made $5.08 for the report at 8 cpl, but if I had been paid 6 cents per gross line, I would have made $8.58. Can't really judge line rate unless you have all the info.
Not true. They pay based on a 65-char line with spaces.
nm
PS - pay based on 65-char line, SPACES INCLUDED. SM
Also paid for weekend work, 2nd and 3rd shift differential. Bonus plan based on production.
I thought someone posted on here about 75 char line, and can't check lines...nm

The norm in the 80s was 4 cents per Gross Line, not 65 char with spaces. nm
nm
If you are paid cpl based on 65 char.line, margins dont matter.
s
They use MedRite software, only offered 7-8 cpl on a 70-char. line w/spaces. Supposed to offer
s
It's longer than the "standard" 65-char. line so will take you longer to make those lines!

just random wondering about nationals...
Been an MT for 10+ years, have worked on own accounts and for some nationals. Like to read the boards here, contribute when I can. I also look at the job boards and hardly ever see anything new--there are the random exceptions from services that don't keep the same ad running forever. I know it's difficult to get an account then staff it to keep the turnaround going. In looking at the job ads posted by nationals that keep looking for new MTs ad nauseum, day after day, week after week, how on earth do they ever get enough people to actually do the work they say the need help with! I just can't believe that with the musical chairs MTs go through to find the right mix of work and skills that any of these outfits stay in business. I know they just keep an ad going for infinity just to see what might come their way, but are they really that hurting for MTs? It's a puzzlement to me... Just rambling on a hot summer night.
Correct. My company takes random
reports for so many lines. It is not judged on a report by report basis.
Ah, a random work load can really kill production. Can they be routed

On The Mark
Does anyone have any experience with this company I have heard many things. Some people say pay is not regular, but you always get paid. Others tell me they have had to wait 3 months or more to get their pay. I would appreciate any feedback.
just mark each pedal, so you know which is which. nm

On-The-Mark Transcription
Does anyone know anything about this company? They are in Phoenix. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
Why do they gauge by $900 mark, not lines? sm
Isn't that strange? Maybe other people do this and I'm just not aware. Also why does Transcend refer to MT's as MLS? Just curious :)
Is the Mark job (editscript) one of the Focus jobs?
where you can only do 5 reports a day and all that stuff? one of the small ones that focus farms out to?
Mark bill and envelope "CONFIDENTIAL,"
address to doctor personally with a handwritten note attached to your bill stating, Will you please have someone take care of this? This happened to me. The office manager was embezzling funds which he knew nothing about it until I brought my bill to his attention. My bill has been paid immediately in the 15+ years since then. Good luck.
mine called right at 15-minute mark
.
Not that I feel I need to defend myself, but I just passed my 2-month mark,
so you would be thinking incorrectly. I am a fairly new hire, but I do have 18 years of MLS experience. I must say, am baffled by your antagonism.
Goodness...read the original post again..you are way off the mark.
Sounds like you have the problem.....and are very willing to attack, gut and spit out.
Of course I could be wrong.
if only a punctuation mark in an email address is wrong,
the email cannot be delivered to the inbox It has to be 'exactly' the same email address, exactly to the smallest detail.
Fishy, fishy....
by char
Stop. Redlight. Too complicated to explain here, but problems with that method are major reason things are now calculated by line in 99.97% cases. There has to be a reason a co. would go this route. Tread lightly. Think wisely. If it seem to be too good to be true it is.
Low pay, offered 0.065/65-char and this was for IC. No thank you! nm
x
They are IC only, starts at about 0.06/65-char; too low for me! nm
x
Well, I got started at .08 for 55-char
line. My checks are really good and that's all I care about! Like I said, my checks are more every 2 weeks that they were from any other company I worked for.
Execuscribe...65 char gross...nm
xx
The rate was 9.75 cents, 65 char. without spaces. No thanx! nm

Is 8 cpl/65 char including spaces good pay for Radiology?
TIA
I read in archives that pay is 65 char wo spaces, is that true?
dd
Yes, that's including headings. I use Open Office which gives me a char count.
What it doesn't include is anything in the ADT screen, just what we type in the report.
Northeast Transcription says that FT is 32 hrs/1000 lpd, but 70-char.lines with all spaces and

Is 8 cpl on 65 char with spaces, header, footer good rate for IC work?
Want to accept position. Wondering if that's a good rate today. THank you
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.
1600 is not a fair minimum requirement. Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.
Means a line is a line is a line, even if it only has one word on the line
it is considered a line.
"a line is a line" means gross line.
Gross line is a line, no matter how long or short.
Yes to old reports! Their ExText has all the regular functions except line counts are done on line
s
Thanks for the info! Do you *feel* like you make more with a gross line v. character line? (nm)
Oh, they make money off us. Line rate is 17 cents a gross line.nm
z
Keystrokes has very few accts on line using ExText. Most use Cphones/2nd line. Lots of Rad
