MW doesn't even require that mgrs even know something about their accounts.

Going to football games every weekend and taking another day to recover are the norm. Account specifics? What account specifics? Returning emails? Who does that?

So right! Just because a job doesn't require a college
And if a job is worth doing well and being diligent about (which most jobs are), then they're worth paying the workers fairly for. The U.S. exploits farm workers, office workers, MTs, nurses, computer programmers, teachers, you-name-it. And they do so by not putting a cap on overpaid, do-nothing CEOs' salaries (as in.... banks and stock market, for starters!), and by rewarding companies for sending work offshore, instead of PENALIZING them financially for doing so. There should also be something done about all the work that has become IC and/or part-time work. All so they don't have to pay for insurance. Lots of highly educated computer techies now have part-time jobs and no insurance. There should be a way for IC's & part-timers to get insurance through their companies. The insurance industry needs an overhaul, as well, then maybe this would be possible. The fat-cats at the top get paid the big, over-inflated bucks because what they do (when they're not sitting around picking their noses) is they see how many insurance claims they can deny, including perfectly legitimate ones. I recently had a small claim for a medical procedure that was necessary, and I followed the ins. company's instructions to the letter. and did they pay one red cent? Nope. The industry is a fraud, and I'd love to see that one tank, just like the banks & stock market are doing right now. Then maybe something could be done about it. Meanwhile, those of us doing our respective jobs every day, and getting paid less and less, are taking pets to the pound we can no longer afford to feed, telling our kids we can only afford for them to go to a local junior college because there's no money for the real thing, watching savings accounts shrivel because we can no longer fund them, and keep siphoning off of them every few weeks to keep the bills paid, and watch any hope whatsoever of being able to live our older years with any kind of peace or security go right down the drain.

Greed sucks, and there's way too much of it in this country.
I'm looking for a company that doesn't require a schedule......
I know - does that even exist anymore? I currently work when I want, just comitting to certain number of lines in a pay period. Are there any companies that allow us to do that anymore? I'm thinking it's time for a change.
Doesn't Phoenix MedCom require LD? At

My MT job doesn't require holidays or weekends
So I feel incredibly lucky. Not all MT's have to or want to work holidays. It's just a matter of finding the right match.
Different accounts have different platforms. Most accounts require sm
high speed but I am not sure if satellite is OK.

I don't think that they're hiring right now. I spoke with my lead on Thursday, who said they are focusing on making sure everyone has enough work and moving PTers to FT, eventually moving towards FT only with only weekends as PT. Not 100% sure when that is though.
Quik-Mart doesn't require testing ...
Many MTs that I know put quite a bit of time into researching companies. Believe it or not, there are a few out there that are unscrupulous. Then, when they decide to submit their resume, they become one of the stack received and left on a recruiter's desk, only to be sent a generic thank you for applying, please test letter. Then, they're on to the testing process. Sometimes it's a screening during which you give out a lot of personal information, then a written test, then transcription, sometimes followed by a phone interview (and this is probably the only time you are looked at as a person and not just data)- you get the idea. This eats up a lot of time and energy. I don't have any first-hand knowledge about Quick-Mart, Starbuck's or the Department of Energy, but I think things work a little differently in those settings. I hope this helps you understand why it would be important to get a response for the effort. If not, well, I tried.
Doesn't Diskriter require criminal background check?
.
Some accounts require a C-phone or
whatever and use phone lines.
they have accounts that require C-phones sm
and also accounts on high speed internet. Not every account is done on the same platform. Full time is 1200 lines per day/12000 pay period. Part-time (if they still hire part-time) is 600/6000. They offer insurance but I can't remember what it is. There is something through AFLAC but I think that might be disability or something.

You could hear from them down the road some time. They try their best to match you up with an account that matches your experience.
Unless the company just has clinic accounts, they usually require
that you work one weekend day and there is no differential for that.  There may be a differential if you work both days.  I get shift differential for working outside first shift hours.   There are always exceptions to the above, though more and more companies are going with a weekend day required.
Do all their accounts require unlimited long distance SM
or are some voice files? I saw on the website they require unlimited long distance. Just curious if you know. Thanks.
They do require urine drug testing for sure, no matter what accounts you work on, theirs or a hospit
.
No it doesn't. Can't mention accounts here anyway. nm

Why do KS mgrs and Leads do this?
Why do you guys insist on coming to this board in an attempt to defend what idiots type? Then you have the gall to post 'KS MGR' or 'KS LEAD'. Your posts just make you look dumb and seem quite unprofessional when you do this. When you identify yourself as a KS MGR or KS LEAD, whatever you post reflects on the company as a whole. You stated 'you need to stop spreading lies'...is there not a better way to say this? Ignore the trolls. I doubt very seriously that people who are interested in KS will be swayed by these posts.

If you insist on posting remarks to defend KS, don't make it known that you are a KS MGR or KS LEAD. Sheesh!
Yes, they have several ER accounts...the one I work on doesn't have any ESLs (sm)
but I'm sure some of them may have an ESL here or there.  I started there in September after being with Medquist for 8 years. So far, so good.  They have been very accommodating and the office staff couldn't be nicer.  Good luck!
Clinic accounts going to India or SR, that doesn't
xx
Have 4 accounts and no work. SR doesn't pay enough. Like the company, but..

Doesn't Keystrokes have strictly OP accounts?
I thought they posted not too very long ago for a position that was strictly ops. I don't work there so I don't know first-hand, just sorta recall seeing it on the job seeker's board.

Good luck with that search :-)

Plus some STMs (mgrs) do a daily update sm
via email regarding which accounts (company-wide) need OT or make-up time.

I've not had trouble making up my time, usually.
It was referred to as stealing in a conference call by mgrs. sm
Your equation doesn't always prove true if there is little work, if a person's primary account is an overflow account, or if it is the last few days of the pay period.  If people are scrambling to get jobs on their shifts and someone else comes along who doesn't normally work that shift, but is just doing so out of convenience for themselves, they are taking lines from what little jobs there are from the people who abide by the rules and what they had been asked by management.  This is most definitely stealing lines from fellow MLSs. Perhaps you have been fortunate enough to have a primary account that always has heavy volume, and that may account for why you had never been told this by management. But, a good share of accounts aren't like this, and this has repeatedly been addressed by management as a problem issue.  If it wasn't a problem, upper management (Larry) would never have brought it up in conference calls and in email.
Doesn't apply if your OSI account doesn't use Ichart.
It is the Ichart only for OSi where you are cheated.
TT doesn't pay for spaces or ExText doesn't
nm
Are they losing accounts. Do most of their accounts stay for long period of time. I have
heard pros and cons about the quality of their work.  I guess it is much cheaper than other companies can offer.
That doesn't fly - KS doesn't offshore
nm
Because the girls that monitor the accounts in the office were told the accounts either go on DQS or
move on. All accounts to be with MQ must be on DQS and no more different platforms. ONE ONLY DQS. They can send more work overseas then.
MDI-FL but not all accounts. Only the internet-based ones. C-phone accounts are fine.

So, yes, let me clarify before everyone gets in an uproar.. There is work IF you want to use a C-phone. IF you signed up for an account that is internet-based, you will be disappointed. Not enough work to go around. Just my personal preference.. I have no desire to do a dial-up C-phone account using my long distance.

Some do and have good accounts and fully loaded ESL accounts
Take a look at what is happening in India. For the first time, workers there have money to get themselves into debt by buying high priced items (cars for example). They now protest lower castes being allowed into universities at almost double the previous allowance. Wait until they are highly in debt, begin to feel entitled to a wage equal to that paid inthe US and then, try to form unions, get tossed out into the street and sit back with some Ben and Jerry ice cream and watch the economy collapse and all that dictation come back across the ocean. Timing is everything.
Find out which accounts they are hiring for. They have some ESL accounts that are extremely
difficult to do.  I dont know how many accounts they have altogether but as I say, a few are very difficult and I actually dont have a problem with ESLs but these accounts are almost totally ESL.  I dont do them anymore.
Well it sounds like no work happens a lot at DSG. How are the accounts as far as decent accounts
and their QA.
they cannot require that of an IC.nm

What does FTP mean? Require for job. nm
dd
They require 40 from me anyway nm

nm

They only require you to do 3... nm

I should add that they are going to require sm
at least 2500 lines per week as a minimum and do not have a lot of PT positions. It really depends where they have gaps in coverage.
He doesn't trust VR, or doesn't trust his MT to train it correctly?
Or perhaps his MT(s) has/have been filling his head with horror stories about VR and how it is a lawsuit waiting to happen?

Personally, I don't see any reason an M.D. would not trust a VR program, unless he's seen the products of a report edited by a less than competent MT who didn't do their editing job appropriately.

How many lpd does Transhealth require for sm
employee status?  1200?  Do they also require a 40 hour week commitment or just a line committment? Would prefer to have just a line commitment. TIA
Moderator: Can you require sm

ads to give a company name as well as IC, statutory or employee status??  Would make things much clearer and simpler.  Thanks, MomMT

Not just MT, most Employers require it now
It is becoming quite common for any employer, not just MT Services, to do a Credit Check now.  Some companies think that if you cannot handle your finances (late payment, judgments, etc), you will not make a good employee or you might be tempted to try to cheat on something.   Since past employers are reluctant to give any information besides dates of employment for fear of being sued, new employers had to find some other way to dig up the dirt, so to speak.  Just the sign of our times.  No one trusts anyone anymore.  Nothing personal.   Used to be you could just send in a copy of your ID (Driver's license, SS card, passport, etc), and now they want you to have it Notorized, but still get it back to them within the 72 hours required.  Best advice -- find a job you like and try to stay there -- forever!!
They most certainly require weekends and
They assigned me F-M schedule second and third shift, saying it was all that was available. I was the go-to MT in my previous positions and always at the top of the QA pile and production at an acute care facility with 1000+ beds. Loads of experience and great education. Spheris recruiting could not have been less interested in talking with me (I know for a fact that my manager recommended me to them and spoke very highly of me), yet their ads looking for help are everywhere. How is it possible with all their openings that I'm assigned F-M evenings and nights?????

Is there a way to talk directly to account supervisors?
does MDI require weekends? - nm
nm
I don't understand. They require 98%, and you are doing better than that,
but they are threatening to be removed from the account? I don't get it. What is it they want you to do differently?
Do any companies require less than 40 hpw for FT?
nm
Companies should require MTs to have sm
a complete reference library as most newbies rely expressly on Google or the word help boards. This is where US MT quality has hit the skids in very recent years. The new MTs don't want to bother researching so they can't possibly realize the serious mistakes they continue to make.

All companies who require OT have to pay for it (sm)

If a company has enough work for OT, by law the employee has to record it and the company has to pay it (if the employee has been approved to work the OT).  Get everything in writing.  For MTs, OT is usually the normal cpl rate x 1.5 for OT lines, which equates to the same as time and a half as mandated by federal laws.

All companies I know of go back and forth between no work and gobbs of OT.  I don't know of any company that consistently is out of work or consistently requires OT.  Feast of famine in this industry.

How much experience they require,
are they hiring, etc.
Does this mean Focus does not require
MTs to use company supplied computers? I thought I read on this site somewhere that they did, thus the concern. If they don't, that's great.
Thank you. Then TT has right to require set hours
x
I think the companies that DO require
you to clock in and out are few.
What I said was that few companies do require it, so
most of them don't require it.
There are some companies who only require
35 hours.  You might be able to get by with producing the minimal line counts though if it is a company that doesn't require you to clock in and out.
I am looking for a company that would not require
adding a lot of demographic information, mostly straight typing, not a lot of ESLs and would hire a newbie.  I am inquiring for a friend who has graduated from a program and needing employment, so would expectnewbie pay. Any information would be very helpful.  I am searching the boards, but would appreciate any up-to-date info. thanks.
