MORE TO IT THAN THAT -sm

Not just a matter of someone putting 40+ lines on their time sheet.  (They have no problem with their SALARIED staff getting OT, do they? )  Can't receive an email from mgmt w/o them adding, Don't work more than 40 hours.  So -- somebody must have really stirred the pot about OT and minimum wage issues. 

Of course, they don't want to pay OT to MTs.  But realistically, they also know that even Superman/woman could not get in their required lines (1100) on the crap dictation that we get, i.e., 99% ESL, and I won't even touch upon the VR, and that it takes virtually 12-16 hours to get in 8 hours' worth of required lines.   

Add to that the last few months have been so no-work/low-work, all the while hiring new MTs at that time (even hiring now - look on 07/28 ad on first page of Job Board for FT, PT, and weekend MTs).

Soooo, maybe someone who got tired of babysitting his/her computer (all the while watching new MT hirees constantly coming on board as safety cushion), maybe someone who had trouble paying grocery bills, feeding kids, etc., etc due to the above - maybe ex-TT'er or present - got fed up and really rang some bells.about having to work 24/7 to make 8 hours' worth of lines or lose benefits, or about minimum wage issues, having to perform unpaid work just for the privilege of being able to type for them at substandard wages.  MTSOs don't care if WE eat - that has been proven over and over again during recent years - but threaten THEIR little corner of the gravy train (such as labor/leergal issues) - and watch them overreact.  The Q, thought they were so much smarter and better than their MTs, had to learn the hard way, didn't they?
