On Transcend platform you have to click, click, click all day and still get errors, change screens constantly - its a nightmare to work in.

Hospital using Transcend platform
Is there anybody out there who works in a hospital for the hospital but types through Transcend's platform? In otherwords, the hospital is using the services of Transcend but maintaining their own transcription department in house. If so, what do you think of this arrangement?

Which companies use VR for a platform besides Transcend, Sten-Tel and Focus? sm
Am looking for part time editing job, but cannot load EditScript. Tried Transcend, but the VR just disappeared out of the queue. I posted my resume, but just get offers for MT, of which I already have plenty. Would like to post directly to the companies that use a different platform, if I can find them. TIA.
The fact is, if you think the sound quality and platform at Transcend are great, you have not had
many other experiences with "sophisticated" equipment or companies. Heavens, their idea of big cutting-edge technology is being able to have a drop down list to pick from dictators, though that was an incomplete mess. Defend it all you want, but they are not cutting edge at all. Definitely a step back in time for lots of us, and who wants to move backwards, slower platforms, working off paper lists, manually filling in demos, and horrible sound quality, for LESS money? No thanks!
Again, if you think Transcend is state of the art in the areas of sound quality and/or platform,
then you have not used high quality equipment before! There is MUCH more sophisticated equipment out there now, even at smaller MTSOs. Even Larry himself said they are "working diligently" on improving the sound quality. Perhaps you should let Larry know that the sound quality is WONDERFUL - he must be mistaken and misinterpreted all the "MT feedback on poor sound quality"...Who do you think you're fooling???
Yes, SPi does use this platform....it's a great platform, but not worth working for SPi. nm

Bad Platform. I personally know of 3 MTs who left because of the platform.
If you are like me, the bottom line is wages and what I get in my check. I have never worked for Amphion, but I personally know of 3 MTs who worked part-time at Amphion before quitting their other service to see what Amphion had to offer before it was too late. All 3 quit Amphion and stayed with their other service because of the Amphion platform. Too hard to make any decent lines.

Full time at Transcend
Full time at Transcend is $900 gross pay per pay period. There is a full benefits package to include PTO, health insurance, long term and short term disability, 401-K (with match). I work on a large hospital facility, I do all worktypes including ESLs, and I always have enough work. The people are nice and you will never have to worry about a paycheck.
It's a shame what some people will write on this board, not just about Transcend but almost every other company. Now that I know the mistruths that have been spoken about Transcend, I will also take with a grain of salt what I hear about other companies. I have worked for many companies in my 30 years as an MT, and Transcend is the best. Of course, this is just my opinion and I respect the fact that others may disagree. I guess I just don't understand the mean-ness (is that a word?) on this board or of the responses.

This is all true but meet one ROM with an attitude or even a TL and your goose is cooked unless that has improved in the last 2 years. There was a lot of politics back then. I sure hope they have weeded out these horrible things. Otherwise, you are exactly correct - great place to work and I would go back in a heart beat but am black listed because of the above mentioned problem. Stop mean mouthing Transcend, they are still close to my heart, she isn't but the company is fine.

To each his/her own! I was on a different VR platform sm
and ran out of work constantly. I have worked on several VR platforms and BeyondText is not the best, but it is not the worst either.
Every company has good and bad. Transcend was just not a good fit for me; however, it may be a good fit for you or the next person who comes along.
I love new technology and work on state-of-the-art platforms, the newer the better, so that typewriter theory of yours really does not jive here.
Every company has good and bad, it all depends on the individual MT and what that MT is looking for in a company.

And if they don't get you with a bad platform,
then they overstaff your account. I used to get over 20,000 lines before they overstaffed mine and started playing favorites, with cherry picking taking place. (And don't say it can't happen, because it can and does right before my eyes all the time.) I've been struggling to make the minimum to keep my benefits.
And then they try to tell you how you're going to be making such great money when you go to voice recognition, which is a JOKE for someone who typically transcribes 250-300 lines an hour.
To read this board and find that now the incentive program is discontinued for new employees (who are now hired at a higher rate and given instant PTO) while the rest of us who were hired before November 1 have to scramble to get a higher line count in order to make what the newbies are making and have to wait a year before earning one minute of PTO only provides yet another example of the inequitable way this company operates.
I'm tired of all the games, the insulting of my intelligence with the fiction they invent, and the terrible, terrible program.
And to all the cheerleaders out there: Write down all the good things you have to say now, save it in a file, put it on your calendar for 6 months from now and THEN let us all know how you're making out.
As for me, I've found another job.

which works a lot like Word, accepts Instant Text, which the company will help you buy (they also have free IT classes and glossaries for many accounts). I like that they upgrade the platform based on MT feedback. Owner is known for hiring top tech staff and programmers. I'm an SE; they also hire employees. I don't think you have to be full time, but it's so easy to make the full time lines that you might want to be. I've done overflow work for probably 10 services in the last 5 years (in addition to working long term for 1 service), and I've never piled up the line count as easily as with ProScript nor been treated as well.
It is just a platform.
I worked on Softmed when I was in-house. You are basically working in Word superimposed on Softmed. I liked it when I used it. If you are proficient in Word, you will do fine.

The BEST platform ever
I have worked for Cymed (now SPI) for almost a year now and I LOVE their platform! It is called Chartnet. It took me less than a day to learn how to use it and it almost never crashes. It is the most efficient platform that I have ever used and I plan on staying with them because of it.
