There no specific shifts because you are a statutory employee. (Similar to being an IC but better for you finance-wise--ask your accountant to explain it. It's too complicated for my little brain but my CPA said MDI is the best financial deal I could get tax-wise. Since California is in such a mess, we pay attention to every penny.) Anyway, my liaison leaves me alone to do to my work. In the morning we get a posting of who works where (there are four hospitals in my group) and sometimes they post that a stat needs to be done right away but other than that, they leave me alone. The platform (Bayscribe) is the best in the world. I have made more money with Bayscribe than anywhere else. Like you, I worked for the squid. I was just amazed when I went to work for MDI--I made more there my first week in training than I had in many years at the squid. MDI is very, very particular about quality--and with what they pay, they can afford to be. The liaisons are really kind and nice, they know their stuff, the QA team offers criticism in a kind and constructive way and the tech support is great, although I have only had to call them once with a technical question while I downloaded Bayscribe. Getting up and running was easy and it took about 15 minutes to learn Bayscribe! Not like DQS which, I think, stinks. For my money, MDI beats MQ, the UC system and various other small nickel and dimer mom and pops I have worked for through the years as I have raised my family. I say--go for it!
