What is going on with Transcend?

I am about to leave also and I never thought I'd see myself type that!

Horrible accounts, horrible sound quality, etc
The only time SoftScript would not be wonderful is if you aren't doing your job. They are an extremely professional company. Sounds like someone may not have lived up to their standards.
horrible sound quality.....
and they tried to blame it on my equipment!  Also agree with lack of communication and horrible ESLs.  I'd look elsewhere if I were you.
Worst company out there. Horrible sound
quality, horrible ESLs, system not user friendly, loopy QA.   I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
Years ago, sound quality was HORRIBLE...sm
still in contact with a few MT friends there and nothing has changed.  I wonder why they always had such poor, muffled sound quality?
READ THE ARCHIVES. There are volumes and volumes
about Keystrokes.  All you have to do is scroll down the page a bit and you'll find several posts.  You can also open your original post and click on related messages.
It was archaic before it was even written. Sound quality is horrible,
all static and scratches.  Full of glitches.  System is alway broken down.  It is definitely not streamlined and was probably written for 1990 era transcription.  Line counts are bad, you do not get paid for anything in templates.  It is typical of what Transcend will shove down your throat and try to convince you is wonderful, just like they think 4 cpl for editing that garbage is a big deal.
Sound quality horrible, the worst ESL dictators
I ever heard and I do probably 80% ESLs, poor management, poor support, pay sometimes late.  I can honestly say I wouldn't refer my worst enemy to them.
When I worked there sound quality was horrible and no one ever answered my emails..sm
Really the only good thing I have to say about them is their platform was great - DocQscribe.  I had no problem getting good lines.  But managment was rude, sound quality was awful on all 3 accounts I worked on, and they don't answer emails.
Yeah, but the sound quality is horrible on all accounts. Good luck with that!

Work volumes....
Work volumes have been pretty low across the board. We were told at a town hall meeting last month that they would be recruiting MTs from within the company to work on these new accounts that are coming on board soon in order to solve low work volumes many of us have been encountering. It's not very comforting to hear that they are doing exactly what they promised not to do (hire new MTs for these accounts).
FOCUS WORK VOLUMES

I just wanted to add that I find plenty of work if I work between 5pm and 11pm, eastern time.  If I want to work during the daytime, say between 8am and 5pm, the queues are often empty (3 of them).  There was one time that I logged in at 4am, and I found the queues all empty at that time as well.

Good luck.

My experience was low pay, low work volumes
But they were very nice. Unfortunately, nice doesn't pay the bills. :/
Softscript! Horrible sound quality, awful dictators, bad management, and late paychecks...nm
nm
My experience is work volumes fluctuate SM
but fairly predictably, and a full shift is virtually always available IF you choose to adapt work schedule for those days and periods when work is plentiful.

Until recently health benefits were available for a 36-hour workweek, now it's a 40-hour work week with some flexibility.

Working that full schedule, though, a skilled MLS (medical language specialist) with a well-developed and used Expander who is familiar with the assigned accounts can make good money, and many do. The incentive bonus schedule is quite good and rewarding to high producers.

Percentage of ESL is quite high, but they're as doable as any others once familiarity with their dictation is achieved (typically they know we can't understand them and try to vary as little as possible from their standard verbage).

WebMedx specializes in mid-sized community medical centers. No Cleveland Clinics or UCLA MC here, which is the biggest drawback I know of, really the only one, with this company. This type of workload does contribute to getting that high-line-count familiarity, though. Accounts and formats are typically easy to learn, with relatively little in the way of fussy individuality to keep track of.

I do believe WebMedx is genuinely trying to get and hold onto good people by treating them well. Absolutely no complaints in that regard in all the time I've worked there.

So, welcome, NN, and best wishes on your decision, Decision. :)
I wonder if these students aren't doing some Webmedx dictation already with work volumes as they
It ain't all the economy. They are either OVERHIRING incredibly or the work is going somewhere else. Definitely. They should have the decency to be straight with us.
Horrible, horrible, horrible place. Unlike the other poster
I actually worked there.   Sound quality is horrendous.  The account I had was the worst ESL I've ever had and I do 85% ESL so I have no problems doing ESL.   Frequent management turnover.   When I was doing QA the work was so bad that I pretty much had to redo every report.  I hear about how well they pay, but they don't pay that well and certainly not enough to compensate for all the other stuff.
Worked there 2 years ago..horrible, horrible, horrible.
Would totally avoid them at all costs.
You like no work, horrible
sound files and inconsisent QA then I guess they're ok.  Have a backup plan because you're sure to not make much money there.
SoftScript is the worst - horrible accounts, horrible management, don't go there! nm
nm
horrible, horrible contact person! Worst experience ever. SM
Turned it down because of the arrogance and attitude.

That was not long ago. Ads run every 2 - 3 months.
What work are they offshoring? I get horrible
dictation and I get very good dictation.  I work on multiple accounts and the dictators aren't disappearing.  I get work types of all kinds, depending on the workload, and lately I've gotten a mix of stuff.
TRS is a horrible place to work

Extremely bad management, constant changes in management, constant do more, do more, do more, benefits always changing and not to the benefit of the MT but always to save them money.  If you want to be a number and constantly being looked at for what you DO NOT do rather than what you do accomplish, then TRS is the place for you.  If you want to make money and be happy, I think flipping burgers at McDonald's is a few steps up from TRS.

I watched way too many good people get walked all over at that company and finally leave.  I lost my faith in the idea they could come back to a good company and after several years, decided to take myself to another company.

I hope you find what you are looking for, but please run away fast from TRS as I would hate to see another MT treated the way they are treating their people.

Yes, that was horrible and I know a few girls that still work there...
and it is still horrible...You would think they would have gotten that taken care of by now...
I had a couple friends work for her OMG she is HORRIBLE!!
She is new to running a company (within the last couple years) and is pretty clueless. She just isnt cut out to do it. I ended up hiring one of her MTs that she thought was awful and is one of my best editors. Quite ridiculous really. I would steer as far away as you possibly can. If you DO decide to work for her, do NOT quit the job you have or you will end up in a bad situation. Very few stay with her. Just honest words and hopefully helpful info. Sorry to slam on her so bad and I really do not like doiing that to companies, but she is honestly the most hateful and incompent MTSO I have EVER heard of.
Sounds like the company I work for now. Horrible
it.  The company in general is also very, very strict on QA, so there's never a relaxed minute as the newbie on the block, and the cliques! Its cruel. I feel like I'm in school again, getting left out and laughed at and even set up for failure.  There is always someone calling out sick, etc., as you describe, and I am told I always have to be the one to cover due to seniority, or my lack of it.  Its so upsetting that I'm just about to throw in the towel myself.  I'm sorry I can't recommend anyone other than MQ QA, but I heard they are no longer hiring QA staff.  They used to pay really, really well and the conditions were fine.  Best of luck to you.
SS is a horrible place to work. If the hospital
job didn't work out I'd still recommend looking elsewhere besides SS.  I won't repeat all the details here, but lots of information on what SS isn't a good company in the archives.
Horrible, horrible place. Lots in the archives.

No work, my supervisor was horrible to work with

I worked for OSi for about a month, and during that time, I had little to no work.  They kept saying things were going to get better, but I didn't have the time or $$$ to wait it out.  I was just glad I left my old company on good terms, because I had to back so I wouldn't starve.  I am also a very easy going person, but didn't get along with my supervisor at all.  I felt she tried to stir up things, and never got back to me when I asked questions.  Maybe their work has picked up since I was there

Same experience...awesome to work for, horrible platform..sm
I've been an MT for close to 20 years and am most productive on ER accounts where I can create my own templates and Expanders out the ying yang. After 2 months and the worst line counts of my entire career, I had to move on. I do want to point out that PM does have some of the nicest, most helpful staff I've ever worked for! The platform is the ONLY reason I left.
Proscript low volumes
Anyone else get the e-mail about low volumes at Proscript and what do you think?
Proscript low volumes
Proscript has just had layoffs for no work.
Unfortunately, this does sound like the JLG I work for (sm)
recently took from 5/26 (supposedly, at least) until 6/6 for me to get my paycheck, and it always takes over a week (yet somehow when they want me to fill something out or whatever for their purposes, it gets here much quicker...) Have to pretty much agree with mt34+ on everything here, except I'm still working for them. Haven't yet quite convinced myself that the grass will be greener anywhere else, I guess!
did you work for MTS? sound like them for sure!
nm
Horrible company, horrible dictators, ESL
at its absolute worst, sound quality horrible.  The MTs I did QA for were horrendous.  They made up words, obviously didn't use a spellchecker, couldn't get the hang of something as simple as copying and pasting Preop diagnoses to postop diagnoses and would type same again and again.  QA manager would send out updates for new drugs, equipment and have things misspelled, frequently got e-mails that evidently were sent because someone wanted to feel important, absolutely no useful information, management problems, lots and lots of turnover, including management.    The CEO has no clue about transcription and is in it for the money.  After talking with him you feel like you need a shower.
Horrible platform. Horrible communication.
Horrible people who say one thing and then when you do what they say, they get mad and act ugly.

Enough of a bone?
That speaks volumes for the respect MTs have for
NM
I have noticed low volumes but so far no emails. sm
Maybe it depends on your account.
QA is good, they are fair - DSG not the only one with low volumes
Some days I think the industry itself is in a death spiral... there certainly has been a yo-yo effect for a while now on volume.

My suggestion is that people start looking in other directions at least for back up/part time income. I could be wrong but I just don't see a reversal happening in this industry.

Not only is VR working against us, it will only improve with time - and possibly to an extent that will even reduce VR positions. Likely more software is in development that will further erode job opportunities and/or drive down wages.

Outsourcing is playing a huge role as well.

Not to create or add to anyone's panic, but read the writing on the wall before it's too late - diversify your skills and don't put all your eggs in the transcription basket, cuz me thinks there's an egg-sized hole in the bottom. insert wry smiley face here.
Unless she can provide large volumes of
eventually the big co's with their guerilla business tactics will stomp on her little business, too.
Of course you work for OSi. You sound just like their management
how sad!
May I ask how the work is at DSG right now. Are you still having problems with sound and is that
mainly with DSG2.  I have been contacted by them and am considering what I want to do.  Thanks much.
I work on DSG-2 and one account the sound can be sm
horrible but the other accounts are pretty good. No real problems with sound.
Sound quality and now, no work
I just love it when I get up early to work my required sch'd hours and see 0 reports on all my accounts. The DQS system had horrible sound quality even when I worked at MedQuist, so I don't believe it's much to do with any given company but more due to the platform of choice.
Wow, does not sound like the JLG I work for! You are scaring me! sm
My experience has been quite the opposite, but then again I came from MQ so I could be tied up and dragged by my toes while having needles stuck in my eyes and I'd think it was better. Just kidding, but other than not have DD, no complaints at all here.
Great company, low escription volumes but..
hopefully it will pick up. I really love working for them. I only want to edit, do not want to type
actions and attitudes speak volumes
....
I have no sound issues, plenty of work...
Not sure what platform you are on, but I am on 2 of the Dictaphone accounts and there is so much work not sure how we are going to get it all done. My team leader is good and the company has some of the best benefits of any place I have worked, and believe me I have worked for a lot of companies. I am sure it is not a fit for all, but what MT company is.
Doesn't sound like the Transtech I work for...NM
nm
I work for DSG now and the sound quality is just fine sm
now that they are not doing MQ subcontracting.

However, I'm wondering why they are hiring. Of course all companies want their reports back in the right TAT but why do they always have to over hire? I am sure they want weekend and night coverage. That's a problem I think with any company. Even at MQ we are being asked to change our working hours to afternoon, evenings and weekends.
Work can be really low at times and I find the sound to not be the
best but it is not any worse than a lot of the other places.
Your positive attitude speaks volumes! Good for you! sm
I worked for JLG in the past and it was a stable, quality company. There are always bumps in the road for everyone--even for companies.
