Lots don't stay. I left six months after the 1/1/06 disaster

In fact, I was so fed up then, I left without having another job. I just jumped away. Glad I didn't stay for the most recent round of changes. Judging from the MQ forum, it doesn't appear to have gotten better at the Q.

Has anyone ever left Keystrokes and gone back? I left a few months ago and realize that I made a
nm
Been there 6 months and plan to stay sm
Benefits good, been on the same account since day 1 and seldom,if ever, out of work. If I am, I call the office and get more. The others are right, know your ESL's, BOS and meet your line count and you should do fine.
STAY AWAY from this company! Do a search here. Lots of information, none of it good.
I think in the last few months, lots of MQ people have gone there. SM
A few ex-YOGGERS have been there for awhile, but some aren't there anymore. The ESL accounts at YOG, where I used to work, are NOTHING compared to FN. Not even close.
I left them about 2 months ago. When I (sm)
started with them a year ago, things were great. Then they started lying about things such as pay and work, etc. They screwed me over big time. I had the best account there that I could get 300 lph on and they put me on one that I only got about 120 lph on. Seems a lot of companies do this. I lost all respect for A then.
I left MQ several months ago and
have worked for Landmark since that time. I have had no problems - always plenty of work, always paid on time. ExText is very easy and user friendly.
I left SPI 6 months ago
and I'm REALLY glad that I did! I had about 4 different managers before I left. I don't know where they all went, but they kept leaving! I did both typing and QA for CyMed, and I left in February, which is when all of the SPI changes started becoming more and more noticeable. I am now at Keystrokes and am so much happier being with a company that refuses to outsource, and one that pays for spaces unlike Cymed or SPI did!
I left about 7 months ago
I worked for Cymed for a year, and that was alright, although not exactly the best either. Then, SPi came along a little over a year ago and took over, and that is when things really started to go down hill. I started running out of work almost every single day and my account manager was always changing. They then set up these awful work pools where I would get all of the crap work (heavy ESLs and very short reports that yielded very little lines). I finally left in February and moved on to another company (one that does not outsource) and am so much happier. I bet SPi will fold very shortly if they keep all of their antics up. They have already lost a lot of good sized hospital accounts.
I left MQ a few months ago.
I left MQ a few months ago. I do have to say, MQ is a good company. They are flexible with hours and such. I do not regret leaving, though. I am now an IC and love it! Just make sure you leave on good terms in case you might change your mind and want to go back. They called me quite a few times asking me to return to work for them. Hope this helped.
Took them 2 months to know I left...they
even called me after 6 months asking me to work on my day off. Not very organized if ya know what I mean! I don't think I finished my 2 weeks though as I was taking a 2-week vacation before my new job started.
Left MQ, been at WMX about 3 months s/m
They count their lines the same way. The difference is, I'm typing about 3000 lines a week more now than when I was at MQ, and working less hours, because there is no more cesspool. I have one account, and no VR, and it is heaven! I have about 30% ESL, but it's not too bad, you get used to your docs and then they're not too hard. They have a great QA staff, also. Very helpful and positive feedback.
I have 12 hours to fit in my 7-8 hours of work (35 hours/week is full time at WMX). I have heard, however, that they are going to do away with their 12-hour window, unsure if this is true, you can ask a WMX recruiter. They usually require one weekend day, but this depends on the account you would be assigned to.
I do acute care only, and we have been swamped! I am on the Enterprise platform, which means I use their computer. I have heard this is a better side to be on for steady work flow. I have been assured that I can have another account, or however many I need, if my account runs out of work. Haven't seen anything like this yet, though. WMX also has an amazing incentive program, and it gets even better when your account has backlog. They sometimes run a special weekend incentive program, and I can make up to 3 cents above my normal pay, and also get paid OT.
And, the best part, the people at WMX are wonderful! They are just friendly, friendly, friendly, and very supportive and helpful! I have had an absolutely positive experience with them, am very happy with the whole package. No outsourcing, either.
Good luck to you!
I left after only a few months when
it became painfully obvious they 'assigned' work even though it was supposed to be 'pool' work. I would bust my a_ _ to work down to the 'good' dictator only to see the whole batch disappear. It happened several times so I asked her where the files were going and she acted like I was nuts.
I don't mind doing the ESL and mumblers but don't think it's fair to give all the easy work to 'favorites'. I have a low tolerance for lies and unfairness, so no, it was not a company for me. If you are a 'favorite', then you pretty much have it made. There can only be so many favorites though....someone has to do the crap transcription.
That's why I left there a few months ago sm
And speaking of line counts, when you worked on Mongoose did you ever notice that the estimated count always seemed to lose about half a line when it was finalized? Never could figure that out. Besides the tiered pay system, if you have their insurance you are also penalized by having to pay the extra they pay when you can actually get 10000 lines. I don't know what happened there because they were a great company when I started with them but just went completely down the tubes late last year.
I did not know they lost it. Left months ago though.
nm
I agree. I left after 3 months. nm
s
do you mind saying why you left after 4 months?
n
Exactly the same reasons I left too after only 3 months...NM

Over 1000?! I left there 18 months ago...
..and there were only 300 or so! They hired that many since then?
Ex Recruiter
I left about 3 months ago, but was never paid
shift differential, never paid OT.
I worked for them for 3 months and left. Always
of full time lines, so no sign on bonus. I had an 80% ESL account and I cared more about the quality, so I made less than 900 dollars a payperiod. Great quality, good for them and my conscience, but not enough money to live on, no sign on bonus and no benefits. I left for a company where I am already far exceeding 900 dollars a payperiod with no sweat. BTW: No incentive or good QA bonuses at Transcend, so that was no help. No differential either. They do pay overtime, but that is not so great when you are trying to make sure you understand multiple foreign accents. Good luck to you.
Shannon left months ago. Nmsg

Worked there for 2 yrs and left a couple months ago.
Couldn't take working with unqualified people any longer. A very unprofessional company.
I left due to no work for 2 months and they were STILL hiring
when that was going on. I would stay clear for a while unless you can survive off of 200 lines per day and want to work 24/7 and fight over the lines as they come in.
This could have been my post, but I was only there 3 months & left for same reasons. nm
s
Just left Precyse a couple months ago and it
was still that same way. Nothing has changed, but the work coming from India has improved.
Left a couple of months ago and the plan will not
change until end of October. Do you want family or just employee and children? If I remember correctly - the employee plus child(ren) was running about 225+ a paycheck and family (employee + spouse and/or children) was running high 300s per paycheck.
I left SPi 8 months ago and still get crap from them in the mail
I recently got a huge packet from them that took up half of my mailbox. It was a bunch of forms they wanted me to fill out and send back to them (tax forms and other SPi stuff). I haven't even worked there since last February! They really are incompetent and have no idea who is still working there and who is not.
Congrats! I left MQ 3 months ago and it is hard to believe
the difference. I am not with KS, but it is nice to feel appreciated once again and to have only 1 account.
I left 6 months ago, but they weren't paying OT then, but
I worked plenty OT.
I left a few months ago, all my acounts went to India. SM
Try is and see for yourself. They are going VR for the rest. Good luck.I couldn't make a living there.
Left 3 months ago for lack of work
and haven't looked back. It is just the nature of the beast than when a network of accounts change to VR and MTs are doing more lpd now, there will be less work to spread around. There were already problems with not having enough work, so I did not wait for the transition to VR I had already moved down over the previous year from full time to part time because of lack of work. Glad I made the move because I am also the sole breadwinner for my household and can't afford to go without work.
I echo BTDT and left a few months ago. Don't bother. NM
nm
I left a couple of months for the same thing. The prior
3 months I was lucky to get in 800 lines a day. I had a couple of days where I got maybe 4 reports. I would sit in front of my computer for 12 hours/day, checking every 5 minutes, and still couldn't get my lines with 3 different accounts.
They hire away ahead of time for new accounts and after training they have to do something with them until the account goes live so they put them on other accounts temporarily and then there isn't enough work for the regulars.
When I first started running out of work I watched the backlog report to see where an account might have a big backlog and there were 3 or 4 who were on OT most of the time, but when I asked to be put on one of those accounts I was told no. There were many days that it looked like half the accounts had a 0 backlog. Then they started hiring for 3-day weeks and 4-day weeks so there was no work on weekends to try to make up your lines/hours.
It's a disaster.
A total disaster.
I was hired by them and it was a disaster from
the start. I have never seen a more disorganized company. I had other KS MTs e-mailing me privately that said yes things were very disorganized and they had expressed their concerns to management. I gave them a go, the first month seemed to be okay, but then they kept telling me things that never materalized, my team leader was a TL in name only, did not communicate with me at all. I had some private conversations with other MTs, some that had been there 2-3 years. They agreed that things were not what they had been, but that they believed things would level out, etc. I stuck around another month or two, but then there was little work on my accounts and having to learn a new account every month and I couldn't pay my bills on the lines I was getting and the pay increase that they brought up never materalized. I stuck around another month and didn't see any hope of things improving so I left.
I don't like BS and I got a lot of it there. For me the grass was greener. I have a higher line rate, only 2 accounts and if no work I get paid down time and I GET PAID OVERTIME!!! The benefits are much better where I am too and are very reasonable. The company is a fraction of the size of KS, but bigger isn't always better.
WEBMEDX AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER
I was hired and felt tortured by Webmedx every breathing second I worked there by the QAs and other powers-that-be. This was January '09. I was reprimanded and put on some sort of 'extra' probation on my first day, for a couple of minor (very minor) mistakes. I was treated in a condescending manner, to say the least, by people half my age who worked there, some of whom, I don't believe, have any transcription experience, themselves. (I have over 20 years of experience). On my second day, I did so much work I felt nauseated and my hands were killing me--it must have been well over 100 reports (you can't really tell how many actual reports you do) --and yet the line count remained abominably low. I couldn't figure it out, but I previously did 400+ lph at my last job, and now, get this--I was making so few lines it was coming out to about $7.00 an hour! Can you imagine?! Well, the supervisor called on my second day to inform me that the client/s loved my work, that it was great, that everyone was very, very pleased! Third and final day... In the morning there is no work for hours when there was supposed to be work...also, there had been none the previous eve (for about four hours during my scheduled time) when there was supposed to be..anyway, I spend a couple of hours waiting for the work which finally came...then there were a series of freeze-ups, that occurred on the part of their platform, I could tell...nonetheless, I trudge along and notice that I am still making only about 100 lines per hour or less, even once things got going. Still, I feel I can 'overcome' this if only I persevere and get better, so, on I work! However, at one point, I make another, very minor error, and I mean minor (will let you know if you have interest in contacting me personally what it was) and and wouldn't you know, the love me-hate me supervisor who was thrilled with me about 14 hours prior, calls to tell me that I have yet again, (the audacity of me!) made a 'careless' mistake, (again very minor and over the course of at least two hundred reports that I'd done, as I'd now done 1,500 lines)-- one mistake-- it had to do with format and was minuscule in nature. Anyway, she informs me that now I am back on full QA-- from which I had had the honor of being released early morning on my 2nd day--stating that she has to be 'honest' with me, that I am basically on my 'last legs' (to paraphrase)-- that absent immediate improvement, I will be 'let go.' Now, let me tell you, I have never been let go from any job in my life--I have a reputation at each company for which I've worked (really only four or five companies, as I stay in places for years)-- of being among the 'best' they've ever seen. I hung up the phone, speechless and flabbergasted by the whole situation, frankly, wishing I could sue someone! It's too embarrassing to tell you what I got paid for my troubles, and I mean trouble! I know that Webmedx made several hundred dollars for the work I did that went to their clients for the whopping 14 hours or so that I worked. Contact me if you want via email privately--I could go on about what happened with Webmedx and what some of my ideas are as to what these people are 'up to' and I'd like to hear yours-- at best, the experience was a colossal waste of time and money (money lost by wasting time)-- so insulting, it was surreal, really. I am still not over it! Thanks for posting your complaints about this company--it's not like me to go on a 'rant' like this, I am not some kind of a nut or transcription-hack! I was driven to this post by this uncommonly (I hope it is uncommon!) horrendous experience. It was rather like being a 'sweat shop' employee, I would imagine. Scary...and again, surreal.
That was a perfect example of the disaster that VR is! Good Job!

disaster not disasted, sorry for the typo.

Lots of promises, no follow through. Lots and lots of internal sm
problems. She is recruiting heavy right now as she has a CHANCE at getting a big account back. Even if they get it back, they'll blow it again from poor management.
I was part of the Hurricane Katrina disaster and am doing the best I can to rebuild...sm
My credit used to be almost perfect before this. I have since noted this on my credit report but I don't think its right. I am happy for you with spotless credit, but like so many others, you could be one paycheck away from total disaster so you better think again about your above statement.
Also, I don't remember signing anything about a credit check, but a background check I did. However, I believe they should have contacted me telling me why they changed their mind in giving me the job. So not right and probably not legal - opinons welcome. I enjoy reading all your replies.
I totally agree, your story is mine and lots, and lots of others, please
believe me when I say Keystrokes has been honest like we used to have in this profession. If I can help one Transcriptionist avoid what we have, this will all be worth it. I worked parttime for Keystrokes at the time I was fulltime with ____ and quit, 2 years later I begged them to take me back after once again my paycheck was cut in half, and they did with open arms. I don't mean to run down anyone but a lot of these transcription companies are getting obscenely rich while paying below minimum wage to transcriptionists, playing with dictation and after working for a couple of them you know who is honest and who is not. Sorry I came down so hard but the reality is there are single mothers out there that I bet cry themselves to sleep not able to give their children a decent life because it is easier to steal from us. When companies have millions of dollar to pay for other transcription companies, open transcription schools in other countries, ect., ect., you know there is a lot of money in it. That is all I am saying.
I don't think we work at the same place, but I have been working lots and lots of hours.
Very thankful to have a decent job.
I can't afford to stay with VR. If they paid more, I'd stay.
The situation sucks. I really liked this company when I started there. I know they read these forums, and they are aware that we are unhappy over VR line rates. They stroke us with cute emails and say we're the best, but I can't feed my family on praise. They're turning into another MedQuist, and so I'll be leaving.
Lots and lots of recent stuff in archives.
TransTech and low/no work for months and months _ don't think there are continous holidays LOL
This HORRIBLE low/no work situation has been going on at TT for almost a year now. You can't convince me it is due to Memorial Day. Are holidays now assigned in this world to being daily.
That is an excuse these companies use in these no work situations, but it is due to their OVERHIRING. Holidays just come on a daily basis, but LOW WORK/NO WORK is happening and has happened going on a year now at TransTech. Always asking to flex into the middle of the night, EVERY weekend, etc.
The TT mgmt checks are NEVER affected, tho, so they can continue to HIRE EVERY MT who gives them a call, and create a NO WORK situation for all of us. The newbie MT's are cheering at first, but then realize that it hit them in the paycheck, too, and very soon it did!!!!!!!
Lots and Lots of info about them in the archives. nm

It is as simple as filling out a form. I did it when I left an MTSO and when I left sm
a non-MT position at a company years ago.
What company? I did not know that any of them offer 401K anymore.
Stay low and stay very, very quiet. Do not
ask questions, do not talk to the supervisors unless forced to. The answer will always be the same, that you are the only one who has an issue, everything else is perfect. Never mention anyone's name. This place has the mentality of the Borg, everyone has been assimilated, which means if your supervisor does not like you, or does not like your friend, you have no chance. You associate with so and so, so you are exactly like them. That quickly goes through the Borg network and every team lead, ROM, and person in management, including HR, is aware of it. You'll be labeled a trouble maker and your life will not be worth living. Any trial to clear your name will be done in the fashion of the trial of witches. You are in a dunking chair - if you drown you are innocent but it is too late by then.
Remember, a ROM never makes a mistake and never tells something that isn't true. They are perfect (and nastier than a pack of hiennas.)
If you run out of work, it is your fault. You are just lazy. Can't make enough to take care of your family? Too bad, you need to work harder.
And forget getting an answer from management. It doesn't
happen. So, as before, stay low and very quiet.
And do a good job? You can be assured that if you do a good job, do what you are supposed to do, and stay quiet, no one will even recognize your name. They have no idea where you work, what your schedule is, or that you even belong to Transcend.
