Crappy pay, no communication, inept QA. NM
No, Paul, you are not. Left last year due to lack of work, but not lack of respect. It's a shame
I liked 'em a lot.
He is GREEDY!!!
From his name, he is not an American born citizen. He's helping their poverty. They speak EXCELLENT ENGLISH?? LOL, LOL!!!!!!!!!
GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY
I cannot BELIEVE you would expect a Christmas gift from your employer. I have been in healthcare for 30 years at various institutions and companies and have NEVER gotten a Christmas gift or bonus...
GREEDY
I agree with you. This What's in it for me attitude is disheartening. How many of us think of giving to or doing something FOR our employer? I am just grateful to have a job in this economy. That is my Christmas present.
oops...not about GREEDY but... sm
My subject line looks like I'm saying Who isn't greedy? LOL ! My post is referring to the Acusis CEO not being an American. (Whether or not he's *greedy* remains to be seen.)
What's greedy is when people
are always thinking about what they can GET rather than what they can GIVE. Gimme, gimme, gimme......
WHO'S THE GREEDY? LET'S GET REAL!..SM
And MTSOs don't have greedy CEOs?? Who pushes outsourcing, VR, MT pay cuts, etc? Not the hospitals! The AAMT, et.al. have been around a long time before the MT industry went sour. And who is the greedy middleman who saw a fast buck to be made with MTs? Not the hospitals. (Guess who the middleman who's making that buck is.) Does it makes sense that hospitals would pay their other employees the going wage for their respective positions and have a hand in undercutting only the MTs. They (hospitals) have no direct say in our salaries. Sure, they will try to obtain the most cost-effective contracts, whether MT, cleaning personnel, cafeteria workers, etc. Who wouldn't? Do you hear their employees blaming the hospitals when they're not paid prime wage? They're making top $$$. Let's put blame where blame is due!
You state that if hospital CEOs weren't so greedy, the poor MTSOs could pay their MTs more. DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT, IF THAT WERE THE CASE, THE MTSOs WOULD PASS ON THE EXTRA BUCKS TO THEIR MTs??? Really? Don't you think they'd put it in their own greedy little pockets?? ( If you're not a MTSO yourself) ... think about what makes more sense!
I don't think MTSO's are greedy
I think some may be greedy, but many others are probably trying very hard to juggle variable workloads with variable staff.
I know. I am an MT now, but was an MTSO - it's not nearly as easy as people might think.
We have to remember not to paint them all with the same brush...
transcend used to be good but they got too greedy -
too many Indians, too much crappy voice recognition that is not even close, a horrible platform that has multiple problems, line counts that are always a hours to a day late (reminds me of another company where no matter what I did I could never get over 1000 lines over the required minimum counts), and the nastiest ROMs in the business. You can have your transcend.
So you DO expect something - even a card. GREEDY !!
nm
Fortunately, not all companies are so greedy that they
use VR to cut the line rate for MTs. Hopefully these experienced MTs who make more money doing straight transcription rather than the pay cut that comes with VR will find a better company to work for. For those like you who apparently never made that much doing straight transcription & enjoy VR, then more power to you, but why freak out on those who don't want the pay cut? Let them find a company who isn't trying to screw over the MTs by cutting their line rate for the same amount of work.
Which companies aren't that greedy? nm

Now that the greedy corporations who offshore
our work have driven down our wages, not to mention risking patient safety, it really makes me rethink/regret my career choice. This used to be a great job.
It's not that they are greedy, they are bidding on jobs to low
The one company I worked for literally bid 7 and 11 cpl for a VR account and were only paying the MTs 4 and 8. That is the real problem. These docs/hospitals want rock bottom rates and there are so many MTSOs out there competing for these accounts that they are bidding us all into the poor house. JM2
No, it IS that they're greedy! These people want
ALL the accounts! At all costs! They think by 'dominating' the industry by taking as many accounts as they can get, that it makes them a better company. But how do they make a profit with those lowball bids? Off the backs of the MT.
Greedy, greedy, greedy, GREEDY!
All the big (which means GREEDY!) MTSOs
there was some way to blow the whistle on these guys and either get the rules for the MTSO industry changed, or else have these oinkers put out of business entirely.
Only problem is, the big greedy fish are
or undercutting them so badly they can't compete. And when you finally wipe out all the competition, what do you have?
A MONOPOLY.
If that is not what she meant, and she was just talking about greedy business people, then...
why did she feel the need to say that the business person was Arabian? If she was just talking about greedy business people, then why would his nationality matter?
See my point?
I hope Debbie "outs" the entire greedy -nm

Ha -- good for you. If more people stood up to the greedy cheats, maybe sm
we wouldn't be facing this now. I miss the day of the gross line, but that's hard to find anymore, and if you do find it, even then sometimes they try to cheat you and make it a 100-character line .. sheesh (okay, I exaggerate a tad, but only a tad).

What's greedy about it? Have always received xmas gifts/bonus as employee
x
I think maybe this was a lack of SM
foresight on the part of the company but it wouldn't make me too nervous. People who sign on to work anything other than M-F shifts usually have to work during the day when they start anyway because that is when the office/account mgr and IT support are more easily available. For them to tell you that you could have your first day on a Sunday night is odd--it probably just didn't register with whoever gave you your start date.
Now I know just where you lack - in
intelligence. I was thrown off the other forum because of the person you speak of. You definitely are barking up the wrong tree with that name. Why in the world if I were *** would I be working for such a pitiful salary, as you seem to think, when she is supposedly a recruiter? Would she not make much more than me, just a regular MTer? It just does not make sense to me that anyone who happens to love their job cannot possibly just love it to be loving it- they have to be in management. What in the world is wrong with you guys? I work part- my husband is in a union- my father gave me lots of money and that is why I don’t have to spend my life transcribing 24/7. I am in my mid 60s, have no kids to raise, don’t have to beg for a job, could retire tomorrow if I liked. Quit being such a hater.
Could be because of total lack of sm
professionalism and loyalty to those she worked with if indeed that is true. All I ever heard from her was talking about others behind their back. I never met anyone other than from one other one there who went long ago that did that and it is the worst case of management I have ever known.
LACK OF WORK ALWAYS
I've started looking for a new job - never enough work -I bet it is going to the new center in India.
Lack of work
Anyone out of work at FutureNet?
What I can't believe is the lack of responsibility smg
people take for their jobs, hours and work in general. I work with people who apparently are their sole mode of transportation for their family and they just breeze in and out at will after taking grandpa, grandma, wife, children to all of their assorted appointments. Then, THEY have their own personal appointments or medical problems that must be worked around. The only thing they seem to be on time for is their paycheck.
Lack of Response
In my case, I have 15+ years of experience and the test was a breeze so I do not think that was the case. If so, then either way it was not a fit, but my point is why work for a company that shows such a lack of professionalism. I certainly do not think I deserve to be considered for every job, but I absolutely do deserve the consideration of a response after making the effort to apply for a position and take the test.
There is ALWAYS lack fo work there...
Then MANDATORY OVERTIME when there is work.
The lack of work got you too huh? nm
No lack of work!!!!
If you are running out of work, then you need to discuss your work types with your Account Lead/Supervisor. Sometimes there is a lack of work in the morngings 6 a.m. to noon Eastern time, but there is always work available on the second shift and third shifts. If you want to work, there is work. If you are scheduled to work that day and nothing down loads, leave your Word Client up, and the jobs will download as they are available. Be flexible on your hours, try some different work types, ask for an additional backup account. There is work if you want it. I have never been completely without work for an entire day and it is rare that I do not make line counts. NO, I AM NOT MANAGEMENT, I AM AN MT THE SAME AS YOU ARE.
No lack of work with me either sm
and I work days on that nightmare account that everyone hates. Come work with me! I'll gladly share! No complaining here.
I have never seen such a lack of communication
within a company. It would be easier on management and keep the MTs working if there were better communication and being able to put it in one place would be a win/win situation I would think. I've learned to not hold my breath for things to happen though.
lack of communication
is usually a good indication there is soemthing you do not want others to know.
lack of work
I am not getting enough work and need a second job. Some of you work for more than one company. How do you coordinate your hours between two or more companies when you don't know what hours you are going to be out of work on your primary job?
lack of work
Thanks for the suggestions. When I started this job there was plenty of work. My mold is that there is not enough work now, but knowing that when I change, my line count and income will plunge until I get up to speed. That's my hesitance of leaving. Don't want to get hungry. When we trained for transcription, nobody mentioned that aspect. I've noticed by the threads I read that a lot of you generally switch jobs until you find accounts you can make money on.
Lack of work
Okay, OSi -- I don't normally bash a company publicly, but you've pushed me to my limit. I am tired of having no work, or very little, with no explanation whatsoever from the powers that be. A little honesty would go a long way. You do realize that your employees are depending on their jobs for an actual paycheck -- they don't just work for the heck of it, right?!
What happened to a company owned by former MTs who understand us?! Where are you guys now, and how would you feel if you were in our situation? When your offshoring practices come back to bite you in the rear (and they will), just remember that you made your bed and you are the ones who will have to lie in it!
I don't think it's so much a lack of foresight
on the MTSO's part as much as it is the fact that if they submit a bid that's too high the hospitals/clinics will go with another company simply because the price is lower.
lack of work
If that is the case then I will not be there long. I only give a company a week as far as keeping me busy and I mean during the day, not midnight!! During holidays I have always had work as well. On interviews a couple of times and also on reading the posts here people mention that it is normal in this business to have slow periods and not to expect as much work during those times. Say what?? I am not talking about an employer only saying this but the MTs as well and they accept it and go without work!! I am not saying the hospital dictations don’t fluctuate because they do but if a company is managed properly, a company who cares about their MTs will for one not over hire and secondly for holidays they will have the right amount of people slotted for vacation in order for the people who are left working to be kept busy. I mean it is never a perfect science in this business, that’s impossible, but a company should operate in a way that is organized with the MT in mind instead of feast or famine!! Also if TOT is running behind then it’s bonus time!! Wouldn’t that be more cost effective anyway?? I guess not for the companies that are ran that way. Wouldn’t you want your MTs to be happy so the turnover is low or instead do you look at us as expendable? I don’t know about these big MTSOs these days. What it boils down to is I do not have the patience or time for companies that will not allow me to make a good living because that immediately tells me that they do not care about their MTs. I know usually in just a few days whether I want to stay or not. There are other reasons I will not stay as well, the usual complaints such as a bad platform, horrible account, being unorganized, etc.
It sounds like maybe that is how MDI operates or maybe they lost an account or two. Well that couldn’t be the case if they just hired me along with the other gal who posted before me and obviously there are others. That tells me that possibly some accounts are overstaffed and others aren’t so I will mention to her tomorrow that I need an account that is understaffed.
The problem right now is I am stuck because of the health insurance issue. I had to take the job because I was on Cobra at the time and ever since my line counts have dropped. I had never experienced what other MTs were complaining about with their experiences. Well now I know!! Where I work now I use ExText which I love and the account is good. It is their line counting methods that have made my line counts drop. I know how many lines I do an hour which range 325-375 on every account I have ever done for different companies yet I cannot achieve that here so I know darn well I am being scammed especially considering I have already used this platform before and made my 350+ lines so it is blatantly obvious.
So because of that I am not only going to be PT for MDI, or whoever it ends up being, but I am also looking for another employee position so I can get out of here. I see some people on the posts say they love working at this company and knock the ones who say negative remarks for different reasons but also about the line counts. I just don't get how they could love it there when I have a good account and platform and there are some nasty accounts there, so why am I struggling and they aren’t? Maybe it is not that I am struggling but that they have never done more than 1200 lines in 8 hours and are happy and used to that so it works for them. I am assuming but that is all I can come up with.
That is why I have been so frustrated in the past 2 years finding a good company to work for. I think it is because I am wasting my time putting resumes out to these larger companies. I need to work for small to mid-sized companies again but I need insurance. I do know that some have insurance but it is a rip-off. My husband’s is too expensive too. Well enough complaining. I refuse to give up and settle though!! Off to bed for yet another low production day.
No lack of work here...
I guess the choices some of us make are better than others. And, no, I do not work for a national. Maybe I will have to some day, and believe me when that day comes, I won't wait until I can't feed my kids to try and find that job. I'll be looking as soon as I think I'm in trouble, and I won't be posting on here for a pity party either.
Lack of communication? sm
What, exactly, do you want them to communicate to you that they have not already? They have sent emails and posted newsletters with the latest developments and they are holding a teleconference to discuss those developments.
Did it ever occur to you that not every worker is privy to all the internal workings of a company, not just in medical transcription but in most brick and mortar companies as well? We have a job to do at Webmedx, and that job is to transcribe accurate medical reports in a timely manner.... Period! Our job is not to concern ourselves with the latest acquisitions, mergers, or other business/financial developments that may or may not occur. They have people who are paid to do that, so we should do what we are paid to do.
If Webmedx is that intolerable to you, you might consider changing something you are able to change as I suggested below, or if you cannot or will not do that, then perhaps it is time for you to find some place where you would be happier.
your lack of education
with regard to the profession and how businesses are run seems to make it difficult for you to understand the big picture here.
I've been in this field for a very long time and it's people who think screw the rest, I'm in it for me (this is the impression I take away from your responses) that have made it possible for a service owner (a position I also once held) to offer crap pay, no benefits, high expectations.
If you are an IC and allow yourself to be treated as an employee, you can also be creating issues with the IRS, and if your employer is found to be using ICs as employees and not paying appropriately, they can incur significant fines.
Downside is, yes, an MTSO then has the right to decline to employ you. But if MTs would refuse this type of treatment, the offers might be more in line with what's a fair earned wage.
Also noticed the lack of
work out of a Chicago company but as it is a p/t job and not my main account, I can live with it for the time being.
I wonder also if MTs who had left the field because they were fed up, for many reasons, are now returning due to the economy. Seems that companies have more MTs replying to their ads than they know what to do with! Sadly that does not make it a good market for the MT.
Lack of work
I also checked with supervisor about my account possibly being in Chartnet to explain the lack of work and was told when my account moves over then I move over, so this obviously is not the case. I don't know what is going on, but this is very unusual except around holidays.

Lack of work
Sigh.....I'm another MedScribe MT who has not been able to get my lines this week. I have never had this problem before.
Their lack of ability to think outside the box & actually
Lack of Respect from MDI
This is really so sad! Why are they lying and being so secretive? I have no respect for them any longer. The past respect is just that: Passed respect. It works both ways. HOW DO THEY EXPECT PEOPLE TO LIVE? Better to be honest about their situation, whatever that is, than this. And regarding the emails never answered, no answer IS an answer and the message is that you and your email are not important enough for them to pay attention to. Shameless behavior on their part and no sing-song email from the owner can discount the fact that they are blatantly giving the shaft to loyal employees.
Lack of work @ MDI
I've really tried to be patient and understanding but lately I'm rightly pi$$ed off. Why do the secondaries get to take work from my primary?? I always hesitated and didn't take work from my secondary accounts so as to not take work from the MTs who had that as a primary. Yesterday and now I have NO WORK. I was told yesterday, *oh, I guess the secondaries did the work* when I asked why I didn't have any jobs. Guess I'll have to look for a filler job ASAP.
