Not true! I was told this same thing by....sm
the company I worked for - They told me to move to a business unlimited long distance line and when I did, the phone company came back and cut me off and said that under no circumstances is the receiving of dictation for transcription services allowed! This was AT&T/SBC in Ohio. I have asked every phone company that I have contacted about having them consider an unlimited long distance plan specifically for the MT, and have never heard another word. I wonder if it would be possible to get some backing on this issue? There are thousands of us that need a truly unlimited plan that just ain't there....period! I think Vonage was everybody's answer to the problem as a last resort, and if they won't allow it....what are we to do? Replies welcome! TIA
How do you know this? Prove what you say.
xx
You can do this but you need to prove yourself
They are a wonderful company. But, they work slowly watching you progress, in my experience. At first you start on 5 jobs a day and when you are released you are given a primary account with 24 hour turn around and you need to meet your line requirement. As time passes if you continuously meet line and quality requirements, you can ask for more accounts. If you stay flexible and are willing to work nights and weekends this is a plus too because there is more work at those times, everyone wants day. There is no set schedule, but you if you can be there when the dictators and backlogs are that is best. As well, if you have unlimited LD and not just thei internet the whole combination will ensure you a long full-time career at MDI. There are a lot of variables. And you need a lot of patience, but it can be done. Good luck to you!
Nobody can prove to me that I sent
an email if I DID NOT !
'DOUBLE EYE ROLL'
Because they can dig up enough liars to prove it.
We believe it because we need to.
- the schools get away with it the same way every commercial on TV, in magazines, and every other form of advertising gets away with it.
What about recruiters? They only tell you what you want to hear. They even get rewarded for being good liars.
The truth is, no school is needed by anyone to become an MT. Recruiters are unnecessary for ethical companies. Word gets around and they need all the bodies they can hire to combat the truth by coming on to boards like this and expounding on *all the money they make* - it is hard to know who to believe because they do it so well and we want to believe it.
Hope for the future? Yeah, right. How do you pay the bills NOW?
Which prove the point that
when ops calls asks someone if they can help out on an account, they have no idea if would put you into overtime or not. It's up to you to say, sorry, I can't, it will put me into overtime. Easy as pie :)
Well, I do, and have the pay stubs to prove it.
Sorry if you don't believe me. I didn't think it was possible either until I started at KS.
Sorry, but I have the paychecks to prove otherwise
Every account is different, and I lucked out and got two great accounts. My main account is a super easy ER account with heavy templates, which we get paid for, and I easily do 400-500 lines per hour on that account. My secondary account is a basic 4 hospital account, which gives me really long reports, and I usually do about 300-350 lines per hour on that one. So, it is possible to make that much money there if you focus and work hard.
I can't prove that they offshore, but...
I have seen things that lead me to believe that they do, at least sometimes.
I don't think they really have backlog issues. Yes they do send out a lot of emails saying we need everyone to help blah blah blah, but the work always seems to get done in time. With times the way they are, it seems there are plenty of people willing to work overtime to help pay the bills, so others of us don't have to.
I was just curious how they can PROVE it was you, is all. nm
:
Do not think they care if they can prove it. They just
I do not think they care if they can prove it or not. If you watch any of the daytime Court shows like Judge Judy, it is almost impossible to prove Defamation of Character. I think Transtech just wants to send a message that they are watching the MTStars Board and are not afraid to try to track you down if they do not agree with what you post. It is just intimidation to prevent anyone from being honest in expressing their opinion. The Music industry did the same thing to prevent people from sharing free music – bring a law suit against a couple of people and everyone else is afraid to try it.
All it does is cost the defendant money to have it thrown out – and we all know how rich Medical Transcriptionists are that they have attorneys on retainer. LOL
12 cpl to prove you can and will work - Deal?
Deal.
Wouldn't they have to prove who the poster is and could
it being given to them by the administrator of this site? With providers such as AOL and Yahoo, that takes a court order. Is the private information of the people who post here at risk of being divulged to others not affiliated with the management of this site?
Also, how is it you come to know about this endeavour?
(this is not a flaming question, but one asked sincerely)
LOTs KS' MTs paychecks prove otherwise (sm)
$$$$ Mine included. Just do a search of the Forums and Archives. No need to beg for work with Keystrokes! If anyone has to beg to work with them to begin with it's probably because it is not the right fit. Calling to follow up on job interest and begging are two different things. If a company is in transition and very busy, then that's it, they're very busy. Just take it as that not as a luminous sign.
That's it for me!
Appreciate your kind comments, but TT can prove itself on its own.
Don't pay attention to the naysayers.
TT does well and earns money for its employees to provide a safe good environment and job. All of the things we already know about TT on the board and in our lives speak for TT. It is nice of you to defend against naysayers, but TT can speak for itself and already has. More of these kinds of posts will just fuel the troll fire.
See my post below about breadwinner, defending TT's transcriptionists who provide health insurance for families. This kind of argument is a waste of time.
In other words, I think perhaps we could let other people on these boards talk about their stuff. And if we don't and keep up with this cycle, well that's okay too. People like me will quit looking on here for interesting new things and will work extra to make more money anyway. IMHO
Just did not want you to get your feelings hurt when you were trying to do a good thing.
And your posts more than prove my point!
You know companies that are hiring part time? Post their names on this board in answer to the original poster, for Pete's sake! There are thousands of hits a day on this site, and you think just 1 person is interested in a part-time position? You just want to help 1 person? Nope - I would say that your response has been a prime example of exactly what I was warning others about - someone who appears totally innocent, offering job help, but it has to be private. That goes against the fundamentals of this board. The majority of MTs who have no gain in any shape or form simply post the name of the company that might be hiring - nothing private necessary. Unless, of course, the person who just happens to know a company doesn't WANT the info public. And when the innocent MT gets involved and takes it one step further, a big mess can happen, just as your postings have shown. Again, my initial intent was not to spotlight you. You did that yourself. If I was in a vindictive mood, I'd even be tempted to post what I guess now are your initials along with the companies you happen to think might be hiring part time. LOL.
Again, how can they prove it was here that posted that comment. nm
:
Make sure you can prove your facts before posting, please.
This does nothing but create confusion. I talked to someone in management there today (I'm not with Webmedx) and if anyone knows what they're doing, this person does. They are NOT shipping their work out! Now they have clients who choose to share their work with India, but that's not something Webmedx can control, nor does it reflect on their business.
Chicken Little, make sure the sky is actually falling before you speak next time.
Nope. The PC is mine. I bought it and I can prove it. sm
I spoke with someone at Webmedx who told me that what they are monitoring is the VPN traffic and not the any of the MTs PCs. He said that would be illegal.
I don't know if this is the truth or not, but I have found some handy softwares to protect myself just in case this criminal act is happening on my PC.
when you sign a contract, you prove you are not an employee
if the company is looking for work done when they NEED it done, it is not called an employee.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but if they tell you what is expected and you agree to it, then you are contracted to do that work when they need that work done.
You all can argue all you want, but the facts are the facts. They do not have to use you as a contracter. They can find someone that is willing to do the work when the WORK IS AVAILABLE.
Appeal it & make them prove misconduct.
x
So easy to say you had 73 as you cannot/wouldnt want to prove that. All heresay at this point
s
Prove it to me then. I'm open for discussion. You can email me at admin@mtstars.com

Glad that's true for you for 8 years. Not true for many. I love the company, but I do run out of
as do many others. Wish I were as fortunate as you.
Not necessarily true. That is not a true test of skill.
Do you know how many people get others to take tests for them? It happens and it happens more often than you might think. The only skill that shows anyway is that you can do it.
We are actually more than a transcriptionist. We are specialists in our field and we are supposed to know some things regarding anatomy and physiology as a working base. That's how we can judge if a physician dictates something in accurately and many do because they can't pronounce or just are not thinking. That's why our skills of basic knowledge come into play and that means basic knowledge of body parts. If our job was just to sit there and type without thinking about what we are transcribing, then all patients are in trouble and this is just based on what I see as a QA person.
It's more than just knowing how to transcribe and some of the companies have discovered how to know what your basic knowledge is based on what you have picked up with your experience by utilizing your references etc. Hopefully that utilization of your references has taught you something that does stick in your head.
Beliefs like yours are just so far off base. You have to know what you are doing. It's not just about being able to listen and type. Base knowledge is a very important thing and the services have to find a way to know that knowledge base that is there in your head.
Debate is one thing, and posting is one thing,
but this is getting absurd. I think it must be the same person, otherwise multiples who cannot stay on topic?? Why can't you STICK with the subject? The subject of my post was NOT what your cent per line rate was or is - I could care less- and not how much money you made last year, this year, or in your life, but how silly the comment was that your cents per line rate means NOTHING, that its up to you - some fluff like that. That is just so silly. Again, working for the same company, same account, is one going to make more money being paid more per line? OF course! This is so frustrating and really makes me so tired of reading this garbage let alone posting. Its like a nightmare. And also makes me completely believe that the original company must pay peanuts.
good thing it is a temporary thing sm
because people with your attitude don't stay in anything very long anyway. Nobody has to listen to that crap to keep their job.
You don't know me either. you can say old fart all you want (when did 53 get to be old fart....too funny) but at least I am a valuable employee who can get a decent job!
This may be true... and that is philisophically true, but
and pay bills while being screwed? This is what I think the OP is scared of... I certainly agree and honestly think it is unfair to put people in this precarious position... on one hand be grateful you still have your job, or a job, and on the other, immediately there will possibly be a cut in pay, for which you may have to give up your home, or medicine or reduce your budget for food. I don't know if I am the only one, but I think the OP still has a good head on her shoulders and that may be the problem...at least for employers out there who are switching to VR.. and their employees
Well for one thing, it would not be a professional thing
to do for any MTSO to have a board to do this as part of being an MTSO involves the ability to identify and hold on to confidential information. Even if a person is a job hopper (which in this business rather than go against you can make you a stronger better MT if you can do just about anything thrown at you), if a person is looking for a job, a company needs to have the MT's permission to contact their current employer. Where one has worked or has not worked is something that is very unprofessional being discussed on a board by MTSOs.
Being a business owner of any kind comes with it possessing what it takes to maintain ethical practices.
It is True
When really negative things are posted the company can request that they be removed from this site and it will be done for them. Take it from someone formerly on the inside. :-) I know.
Not True!
If you are working for CorT then you were invited to the meeting that we had today at 1:00 EST. They told us everything upfront and were completely honest. Focus chose not to have anyone representing them on the call. CorT is not being properly paid for the work that we have done and they are paying us themselves. I'm tired of hearing everyone badmouth this company, especially those that do not or have never worked for them. They are absolutely wonderful. They give every newbie a chance to earn while learning and our newbies are doing spectacular work...I know because I QA for CorT. If you choose to leave the company that is your decision, but they are going above and beyond the call of duty for those of us that work for them and the management is awesome. I plan to stay with them because they have been totally upfront and honest with us. Unlike some companies that I have worked for who never let us know anything until it was too late.
that's not true...sm
I post positive about MQ all the time, but I'm not a recruiter, or even management. I'm just a lowly MT like the rest of ya! So, nope, your theory is wrong!
That's not always true
Some people won't be able to edit as fast as they type. The CEO said that himself in a conference call when he said that high producers in typing WILL NOT be able to produce as much in editing as those who don't do as well in typing. If a person is typing 350-400 lines per hour now they're taking a pay cut. In all the con calls they've had I haven't heard of anyone being able to produce 600 lines per hour in full editing. If you're mediocre in typing you should be able to increase your overall line production per pay period, but even then unless you're able to increase your overal production by 40%, you're taking a pay cut.
You are so right - everything you said is true!
Communication is nonexistent! They do not respond to questions nor listen to what you tell them. Many cons with this company. I'd say stay away!
That's very true.
If you don't normally type a high volume per hour, you will definitely increase your production in editing. If you type 400 lines or more per hour, there is no way that you can edit 750 or 800 lines per hour, yet you will still receive the decreased rate for editing. For some people who have been on the accounts for years all they had to do was pull in their self-made templates with the jumps programmed in and fill in the information. With editing, some reports need to be corrected almost entirely or at the very least have full paragraphs that need to be corrected or moved. The people making 2800 lines per day on editing are only doing minimum editing, which makes for an extremely sloppy report. Ask some on the Forum about their QA scores in editing. In a recent conference call people got low QA scores even though they followed all the instructions given to them about not changing certain things in the report that they had been correcting before. They were told they were over-editing. So when they stopped doing that their production went up, but then they got low QA scores. Something has to change. That means that either QA is going to change and allow sloppiness in the reports or people are going to have to start editing more closely to make sure that these errors are corrected. That means closer inspection and more editing time.
What is she saying that is not true?
c
Not true if they are an SE.
.
Not true......
I calculated my line count for a week, use normals all the time and got paid for everything.
It is true?
When is the takeover supposed to take place? Are the hospitals currently at Heartland staying with Spheris?
Not so true
I am not sure where everyone is getting their info from....I work for MDI-FL and never run out of work.
That's definitely not true....sm
There is plenty of work to be done, including some new accounts. I'm getting e-mails asking for overtime commitment not asking people to take off and stop working!
Very true...
So not true
only production and PTO time is accountable towards those 40 hours

I'm wondering if you have all worked on the new platform?
When you fill in a timesheet, you write in your "down" time, your productive time, etc. If you are reviewing QA returns, DOCUMENT IT, you're paid for it.
Why not wait and see how the new plan (which is not really new for some of us it seems) works out? As I've said, I've watched this company for 30 years and this is a GOOD move.
That is not true. Many use 37.5, I have seen as low as 32
And insurance companies let the employer define "full time" so it is not for insurance purposes.
SO TRUE!
scary!
Very true. I am.
x
thats true sm
they dont bother you as long as you work your schedule. always work to do also. each time you run out, you let them know and they set you up right away with another account; just gotta learn each hospital's specs.
thats true too dr
and with that said, i also have been looking elsewhere. dang, for a while, i thought it was just me
now - I'm not sure if this is definitely true or not - sm
but I believe the current issue of For The Record does state that TRS does do some offshoring. I haven't read the article, just heard about it in our department today. cover of magazine showed tropical picture so we jumped to the article. Have to finish reading it though.
Heard the QA is good.
That is very true
I base my gross line count on Courier New, 12 pt. with 1 margins. My client can have any font, size, etc., but my fee is based on the above. I also include printing and pick up and delivery of tapes/transcription (and have for 10 years but that may change soon as I believe I may have sold the OM on going digital).
