Left last year
I left last year after working several years for the company.  A new policy was started that resulted in a lowering of my base pay because I was a part-time employee.  The one quarter I did go full time to participate in their new profit-sharing plan my share of the profit was less than $30.  I was also bounced from account to account to accommodate other MTs.    The account managers that I had contact with were not MTs so had little understanding of our side of the business.  My QA person was very nice and helpful.
Yep, I left them after a year...
and haven't looked back since. Just wasn't a good fit for me at all...sometimes it amazes me me so many people love it there so much.
I left MQ for KS last year (sm)

I'm much happier at KS...Being out of the drama of MQ is wonderful. I also work on Meditech and have PCShorthand for my expander.  I got the license # from KS a while back.  Good luck to you!

I left them last year after only
6 months because of constantly running out of work! They said I could come back when they got busy again, guess they like to over-hire!

Good Luck!
I left last year because the work kept
running out. Sorry to hear that the situation hasn't improved--looks like I did the right thing. Oh well...
I left MQ just a year ago because of the exact (sm)

reasons you stated....I couldn't handle the changes and I lost too much money.  I worked there for 8 years and thought I would be there forever. They were a pretty good company back in the day. I waited too long too, but trust me, you made the right choice! I'm sorry you had to deal with an idiot like NotGood when you were emotional anyway about leaving MQ and just asked a simple question. I'm much happier where I am now and I wish you good luck in your new job!

i left about a year ago because i could not get production up. sm
and i felt they were cheating on lines with spaces as only half the spaces were actually counted when i calculated my info. maybe why you couldn't earn enough either?
Yup, I left a year ago myself and am very glad that I did!
HUGE waste of time. They treat their employees like dirt. It would take me about an hour to write about how horrible they are. Stay away! There are much, much better companies out there to work for!
I left a few year ago because of Rose. (nm)

I left over a year ago. Their VR pay is terrible and
their program is cumbersome to do VR on (or it was). I heard they are going to VBC for line rate, which I have read results in a 30% reduction per line, so please keep that in mind. I left because I was running out of work with 5, maybe 7 accts. Very nice people, though.
ditto. just left MQ this year, thought i'd be
there forever, and it just got to be too much crapola. The best to your future anon; lots of us there with you!
Same thing happened to me last year. Got garbage. Left after 6 wks. Those w/

I left the field for good earlier this year
after 15 years. I'm now an ACSM certified personal trainer at Bally Total Fitness, and also have a private client. Thanks to everything I learned as a transcriptionist, I passed the very tough certification exam on the first try.

I'm still networked with my first MD client, and we refer people to each other.
My body also thanks me for not spending hours at the computer anymore. I enjoyed the work, but don't miss it at this point.

There are many ways to use what we know. If your instinct is telling you to do something else, I encourage anyone to at least explore your options.

I worked there for over a year...left because of lack of work...
one months lots of work, the next three months no work, so on and so forth...when there is a little extra work they do a big hire and once again the faithful MTs who stick by them have no work...I have been gone for over a year and it is still the same way...
Typical year round. They overhire. I left due to lack of
work.  About 6 other MTs left when I did, that I am aware of, due to lack of work.  There are accounts with a lot of work and frequent OT, but I was told they couldn't be worked on as a secondary account.  Made no sense at all to me.
No, Paul, you are not. Left last year due to lack of work, but not lack of respect. It's a shame
I liked 'em a lot.
I actually left about a year ago and work for another company that's running out of work. Have to

HATED IT!...nm

Hated it!
I don't even know why I stayed with them as long as I did.  There was hardly ever any work.  I would ask to be placed on another account for more work, but the other accounts had no work as well?!! No direct deposit.  My paycheck was never calculated correctly and it was hell trying to get the money I was actually owed.  Having to log every single job you do and every single mistake found in the job plus calculating the line and character count at the end of the day was just ridiculous.  I really have nothing good to say about this company.
I hated SPI
I quit SPI just over a month ago. I hated that place.
I hated it
Didn't make it two weeks. Management style sucked.
I hated it.......sm
But that is just me.  too many difficult ESLs, and they make up the majority of that account.....I never liked Docuscribe....

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

It is as simple as filling out a form. I did it when I left an MTSO and when I left sm
a non-MT position at a company years ago.

What company? I did not know that any of them offer 401K anymore.
I did not like MT World either and I hated being on IM all day. nm

Ditto, hated it!

Hated their platform, could not
make any money on it.  Constant technical problems.  I quit.
HATED ExText
Found the same thing. My production dropped dramatically using that system. The cpl rate was great but not worth it. With the time wasted, I could have been earning 1 cpl less and still making more with increased production.
I hated AC years ago, but....
I hesitantly applied for the RAD position. I don't know anything about Rad or Path with them.
I used to work for OSI and hated it
..
My friend worked there and hated them, but
I guess it just depends.
Are you kidding? I hated RadNet!
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Ditto everything he/she said! Plus HATED the time

I hated to have to leave my last job for many reasons.
It was working in-house with great MDs and techs and other clerical people. But I felt the OM was sanity-challenged and I was extremely frustrated by her need to make herself look good and everybody else look bad. If you tried to do anything for the good of the company, she was extremely suspicious of your agenda. I now work for a company where everybody seems to be interested in putting out a quality product in a smart and efficient manner. What a relief to be able to concentrate on work! And yes, I actually took a cut in pay from a great hourly wage. It's a shame to have to do that, but it was better than fuming night and day over work for me.
I absolutely HATED Meditech.

Slow isn't the word!  The spellchecker was a total PIA to use and my text Expander wasn't compatible with it either.  My company did offer a teensy weensy rate increase but it just wasn't worth it...plus they recalculated the lines on us.  Meditech counted 55 characters but our bill rate was for 65 so it was like a double whammy, so what you saw on the screen was not what you got paid for.  Total ouch.

When I used Meditech, it was on a dial-up connection and when it dumped (several times a shift), guess what?  I lost my work!  100% completely unrecoverable.

Oh the memories still make me wince in pain.

worked there for a month--hated it. nm

Hated it enough to leave a company
that couldn't take the time to use it right.  When a company USES it properly, it is not too bad.  When they don't bother to have the doc's office fill in the necessary information and then not bother to build the necessary data bases, it is real hard to earn a living.
I hated working for Transolutions
The platform is terrible. I have never in my life struggled getting lines, always getting at least 250 lph, but on that platform, it was terrible. As for United Healthcare, be prepared for your premium to go up with that change because they are very, very expensive. I paid $700 a month at my last company with United Healthcare as the insurance. It was at Spheris, and I left after being employed there for 5 years because of the high insurance premium.
I hated transolutions also... the reason they
have so much work is because they can't keep people to do it. You will receive mountains of notebooks and papers during training to try and figure out, the platform is horrible, they DON'T COUNT SPACE OR PUNCTUATION Keystrokes PEOPLE, tons of data to enter on ADT screen, you have to manually add any doctor that is dictated in the report to the cc list (give me a break), lots and lots of busy work, QA IS A NIGHTMARE. I stuck it out for 2 months just in case the whole thing was just me, but nope, it wasn't, somehow lines just didn't add up. I couldn't get out of there fast enough! I would NEVER work for them or recommend them again!
My most hated dictators are not the ESLs, sm

they are sloppy dictators who talk at the speed of light and mumble but still expect an accurate report.

You're right that there is a lot of work.  I just wish we had a definite payday. It would be nice to know if I'm getting paid on the 4th, the 8th, the 10th or whenever.  That would be my only complaint with the place.  Otherwise, it is easy work with great people.

hated it, quit after just a few days
because so many things were just plain weird and tons of discrepancies. Some things work with the keyboard, some don't. I could go on.
I worked for them for over 5 years and hated to leave.
I just quit in the last 3 weeks. I loved it there.

They don't hate their employees. As far as your Spheris-specific complaints above, found the exact opposite to be true.

They're not going down the tubes; in fact, they are headed toward taking MQ's spot as #1 in the industry. They are #2 currently.

I had many offers to do QA and even go into management but I preferred to control my income by MTing. I made top dollars with that company and they were always working with me.

I can see you did not have a good experience there. Have you ever enjoyed any company you worked for or have you always had these feelings everytime you left one?
No cherry picking here. I always hated that and love that about
TransTech. Their feeling is that you have to take the good with the bad.
Back in April they did -- hated that platform!!
One of the main reasons I left.
I hated Amphion, lasted 3 weeks
nm
Oracle........I hated it ....soooooooooo slow
xx
Yep...great insurance, but I HATED working for them.
For years I had wanted so badly to work for Axolotl. I was finally hired and found it to be one of the biggest disappointments ever. Left there and never looked back.
I hated YOG. I had horrendous accounts, couldn't get
samples, they called 24/7 wanting me to work extra, even 6 months after I left.  I was only there about 4 months and left before Carole sold-out despite saying she would NEVER do it.
My account is on Meditech, which at first I HATED, but now I do not mind so much. sm

You can look up old reports by the same doctor, information about the patient such as lab tests, medications, etc.  It just took some getting used to for me.

Like the other poster said, from the email that was sent out the other day, it sounds like they are phasing out part-time people, although I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask, especially if you want to work a shift where they happen to need coverage.

Good luck!
