Seriously, what's the point of posting if you're gonna leave out the most vital info? nm

Hope you're enjoying those slave wages you're earning.

So you guys feel you're getting paid what you're worth with VR?
I'm not trying to be snarky. I've never done VR, so I'm trying to understand.
You're happy with your paycheck with VR? Do you find the files to be as bad as the original post implied?
So you're telling me, basically, they're bad news?
They offered me 0.095/line and you know - it sounded too good to be true, but I SWEAR the recruiter told me they do not outsource. Oh brother... I just wish they'd be honest. I really don't know what to do.
Not the OP, but they're supposed to take out all the other taxes as you're an employee with th

No, they're not losing money....they're gaining!
If a company charges their clients by the line, I'm sure that line rate does not go down even though the MTs pay does.
ASR pays about 2/3 normal line rate to its MTs. Their ultimate goal is to have the MTs do twice as much work. Therefore, the client is getting their work faster, but paying their normal rate, while corporate gets that money and the MTs get the lower line rate.
Whether the newbies want to realize it or not, MTSOs have not increased MTs' salaries in the past 10 years. They still start out at the same pay as the last century!
This used to be a very lucrative profession. Nowadays, most MTs are considered to be paid at the poverty level. You don't believe me, look it up!
So LEAVE ALREADY. nm
I will leave it, thank you very much
through these 2 rotten companies, I finally have found a good company, one that appreciates my work (which is very good) and one that does not lie to me or steal lines!!! So take that!!
Why did you leave?
Or do you still work for them? I had the same experience - just sent my paperwork back, but haven't heard anything, including training date, etc.
Leave it alone. I(SM)
If you don't like what they posted, that's fine. You have no right whatsoever to harass them for it and yes, that is exactly what you were doing.

leave your job
Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, don't do it!:)
why did you leave
Transtech?
see below, and please leave me alone, if you have nothing
meaningful or thoughtful to post.
Thank you.
Why did I leave? SM
1. Lack of tech support. Computer once was down for 3 days before tech support finally got in touch with me -- despite my leaving 2 messages.
2. Cut in pay for ASR work. Line rates for ASR work were reduced by approximately 50% compared to straight transcription line rate. PTO accrual rate also almost cut by 50%.
3. Lack of communication. E-mails, not always but occasionally, will never be answered. I figured out this usually happens when they don't know the answer and don't want to admit they don't.
4. Nasty people at the Help Desk. You are required to have your IM turned on while working. If Help Desk needs a stat done, they can get very nasty with you if you don't get it done in what they feel is a timely fashion, its the end of your shift, or for some reason it doesn't fall into your cue.
why did you leave?

Please don't leave
We are not all malcontents. I, too, have worked for different hospitals and understand your reasoning. Hang in there - some of us don't blast (at least not very often).
leave
By staying there you are giving them life. Quit now. Anyone who works under those conditions can only blame themselves. Companies can't **** employees like garbage if there are no employees.
let's all leave
Okay all you TTers, let's leave this board for good. We know we have a good thing at TT.
Why did you leave? nm

Why did you leave?
Just wondering if you don't mind...
You can always leave
Some of us like our jobs. And I'm not the only rah-rah.
And for your information I don't get paid anything extra. I'm just not as jaded. Sorry 'bout your luck.
BTW...
It's funny how much you'll talk about the company and the director without putting your name. Bet you wouldn't say the same thing if we we're in an office where there was a face with those comments!
I would not leave
I work for a small company as an IC. The company knows IC means I work when I can or want to. I have no set schedule. That is #1 importance to me. But aside from that, the account I work on is really nice. I have run out of work on occasion, but it is not a regular thing and seems to happen mostly when someone new is hired. The new people seem to go in and work around the clock, taking work from those of us who have been there longer and tending to be the cherry pickers, which annoys me somewhat, but that usually dies down within a couple of weeks and then things get back to normal, with enough work for everyone. There are some ESL dictators but not a ton, and many of those are easily understood. The owners of the company are really easy people to work with, very understanding, etc. The pay is always on time, and I feel I earn decent pay for what I do and I feel like I am valued there. I would not leave them now or otherwise.
Now my second job is a whole different story. I work as a coder for a large hospital, and i would leave in a heartbeat if I could. I work from home and again have no set schedule but do have to work xx number of hours each week; I just pick the times to work. That is it's only advantage. The work is demanding and difficult. We get no respect for it at all. The stress is incredible as we work on a production standard that is virtually impossible to meet. We have 0, that's right 0, people in our group who meet the standard, and we have 27 coders. The expectations are unachievable, and we are constantly pressured to do more and more and more but we get less and less and less in return. Sounds familiar? However, this is the job that provides benefits for myself and my hubby, so I am stuck there for time eternal (or until Medicare kicks in for us). In my lifetime, I have always enjoyed working, but this is truly the first time I could say I hate my job and mean it wholeheartedly. That is why I feel for so many of the MTs out there who are stuck in situations that are making them miserable. Considering the amount of time an individual spends working, shouldn't we be able to feel good about what we do?
Why would you leave?
Why would you leave a perfectly good job that you like because two companied merged? Why not wait to see how it works out? I've worked for Transcend for five years and for the most part they are a good company...it would work AGAINST them to take you off your regular accts and put you on unknown accts then train people to work your accts. Their goal is to get the lines done and done well. Pay is above most companies and you do get paid for major holidays. There is PTO, benefits and 401K. Please don't do something foolish, especially in this economy.
why don't they just leave us alone to do
our job and put this wasted research money into something worthwhile?? Why don't they put it into finding a cure for cancer or something?
If YOU think you are a G.P. then YOU can leave.
matters what the person who percieves herself as a G.P. thinks, and if she WANTS to stay or go.
Hey, you're in luck then. They're hiring! (nm)

We're not 'so scared' of it. We're trying to help
you to not make a huge mistake, but I guess you're determined to learn the hard way, so good luck with that.
If you're in the 37% tax bracket, you're making over
100K per year. Quit complaining.
Please go find your new job and leave it be
I figured there would be a post on here after the forum. But let's not make it out to be more than it was. There was 1 post. That is because people's names are shown on the company forum. And on MT Stars, who knows how many posts are from the same few people. If Transcend was so bad, you would think that it would not be prospering as it is. I work there, I love it. I have had NO problems, NADA. I am not the only one either. I am sick of hearing the bashing. I am sure that there are problems there, as anywhere, but they are a good place to work and compared to some companies, a great place to work. If you want the "perfect" job, I guess you will never be happy. Sometimes you just need to be realistic and a little less spoiled.
Job offer from MDI-FL should I leave OSi for them?
By the way it's a VR job, suffering from ulnar nerve entrapment and looking for options.
Leave your e-mail here, may be able to help.. sure it is IL and not WI..nm

Why would you want to leave your IC position?
IMHO, it's better to be an IC than employee. As an employee, you still have the expenses but without being able to deduct as much on your taxes. The 2 cpl lower pay with payroll taxes held out won't make up the difference of your self-employment tax percentage (half of the SE 15.9%). I have learned that if you are basically happy where you're at, STAY THERE. The grass is not greener on the other side no matter what people say. I have bounced from company to company, IC to employee and back, etc., this past year because I can't find a good fit.
Oh they will leave you alone all right, WITHOUT WORK!
Not a very honest bunch of people who do not monitor their work flow, thus first come first serve, thus you might as well throw out their payment scale, as you have to type so much to make so much, and how can anyone do that when there is not enough work!
Did a lot of MTs leave after the holidays?
There were problems with slow/no work in the fall and earlier this month, but they were still hiring?
If you loved it, why'd you leave? nm

Maternity leave
I would imagine you would have to be employed by them for a while before they would pay you for maternity leave. I am not ragging on anyone but I don't understand how someone can expect to look to work for a new company pregnant and expect them to pay you while you are off work, how are they supposed to make any money? I can see if you have been with them for a year or so, but to me that is asking for a bit much. You could not even go to a hospital or clinic and expect that. If you had a babysitter or a nanny and after a few months they wanted 6 to 8 weeks off PAID and you had to hire someone to replace them for that time and thus had to pay double and only had your usual income, would you do that? Where are you working now, do they pay for maternity leave? Most places don't pay for it but allow you to take six weeks off but it is usually without pay unless you use all of your sick time/vacation that you have accrued. I just don't understand looking for a new company now that you are pregnant, tell me if I am wrong but that is what your post sounded like.
Maternity leave
I am NOT currently pregnant, but am planning on in the next couple of years...I don't appreciate the comment when you have not even obviously read the whole conversation. Someone else was already pregnant...NOT ME!
maternity leave
I am not necessariy looking for maternity leave...just something would be nice...
I just find it hard to believe in this day in age that some pay for having a baby is too much to ask for...just even some more PTO or STD is all I am really looking for!
Leave the language out, please. (NM)

Why did you leave and why don't you go back? I did :)
It is the best thing I did. They welcomed me back and made me feel like I had never left.
What about the fact that you don't have to leave the
I know that 8-9 cpl is a little low but when you take into account the fact that you do not have to leave your house, I think that counts for something. If you went out to work, you have the expense of gas, travel time (not paid either way), lunch (usually not paid), need to buy clothing even if that is scrubes, put on a happy face, get along well with others, and when the work runs out on-site, it is gone. There is no room to make extra. You either take time off with/without pay when in fact if you were at home and the work runs out, you have the capability to take on more work. I think this field has branched out so much. It used to be included in a medical secretary's job description and pretty much performed right in the office. That does not seem to exist any longer. More and more this profession has become an entity in and of itself as has the medical profession. There are so many specialists now. I have seen this profession evolve. I see a doctor for this and a doctor for that. It used to be see one doctor, he/she dealt with the issue, end of story. This is no longer the case. Now you see the PCP (report generated in most cases), then you see the endocrinologist (report generated), cardiologist (report generated), ophthalmologist (report generated), dermatologist (report generated) and if you make it that far the psychiatrist (report generated). I don't mean to make things light folks and I am not a TT'er, but I just see that with time things change. How often has anyone who has been doing this for more than 25 years heard or ever saw for that matter an advertisement to work at home for doctors and healthcare facilities? Make money while working from home transcribing medical reports? There was a local hotel planning an entire day to have people come and get information on being a medical transcriptionist. The entire forum would be this subject. Can you imagine the people that go to hear what they could possibly do from home and make such great money? Come one, come all. It is open to everyone. All things considered this can be a good thing. The sacred field of medical transcription has flowered, blossomed, and become a really attractive to a society that is tired of traffic, gas prices, and being under the stress of working under the bosses' supervision. Okay, I think I'm off of my now. Have a great night!
