MDI-FL. Last time I checked their medical insurance for families was expensive. Has that changed or
is it supposed to. I know at one point a recruiter told me they were working on making it more affordable but I never heard anything more. That is a big factor for me. I need affordable insurance for my family. Thanks for any input.
insurance 2 expensive?
Recently I was contacted by an agent of the company I work for and was told that basically they didn't know how much longer they could cover me on their insurance plan that I have been on for years. I am having a bit of a problem changing insurance companies right now because of a chronic illness. I gather that their portion is too expensive although I have no confirmation of that. Can they actually drop me off of their insurance for this reason? I suppose they could always terminate me or push me out, giving no reason, their right, but I already know why. Is this illegal or does it just fall under being a poorly run company?
I think their insurance is very very very expensive. nm

Can someone please tell me how expensive Transtech insurance is.....sm
for self only? low deductibles.
Yes!! I don't like the new insurance, more expensive and higher co-pay. nm
nm
I got one too. I turned them DOWN for a job, insurance too expensive. Don't worry, just a form
and I have well over 16 years in this bizz.
To Keystrokes employees: Has anyone heard anything about when a new, less expensive insurance (sm)
is starting? I was told by a valid source it was to be February 1 but it apparently didn't happen then. Has anyone else heard a different date? TIA.
bad insurance, expensive & lousy line count
When Transform (in Wyo) started they used MDintouch which was great but with Vscript I spent more time waiting for new reports to open (because it would have to open Word EVERY SINGLE TIME instead of Word just staying open, and for them to finish sending. long reports were OK & you could make SOME lines/$$ but after 6 years I made less & less AND LESS until I quit because I would OWE on payday - yes, I was paying over $900 for really lousy insurance for hubby & I. I'm no slouch - being doing it for about 25 yr when I quit & typed about 110 wpm. So take no time to pound out a report but tooooo much time wasted waiting on things to grind up & download. HAS to be better offers...
The insurance changed and it is not
z
I talked to the insurance person yesterday (we all have her phone #). She told me sm
that the holdup was the insurance company and the fact that all KS employees did not get their paperwork in despite phone calls and emails. They needed both the applications for those who want it and the waivers from those who don't, apparently a federal requirement to prove that they offered it to everyone eligible.
The date of effect might still be 6/1 and everything will be retroactive with cards in the mail this week. They will know today.
I am excited about. I too have been without insurance for too many years!
I talked to the insurance lady too (she is very nice) and was told the same thing. sm
I called the office and talked to a high-up manager who said that they haven't said anything because they do not have anything in writing and do not want to give information and have it be wrong.
The premium for employee only is $404 per month and KS is paying $202. This is much better than I had at another company that I do not want bash as this was the only issue I had.
I love it at KS because I have plenty of work and everyone in the office is so nice. My lead changed positions in the company a few months ago and my new lead is very nice and more organized. I have been there 11 months (this time) and was there a year before that in 2005-6. I made the mistake of thinking that the grass was greener but it wasn't!
Actually, SBC does allow it. I had my line changed to a business line and talked with a sm
supervisor who okayed it. As long as I am listening to voice files, and not one computer talking to another, faxing, etc., it is within their guidelines. :-)
Just a matter of time - the Indians know they are being short-changed. nm

OSi with part time health insurance and paid time off
OSi does offer health insurance and paid time off for part time. Yes, there have been changes. Yes, there will probably be more changes. I don't see anywhere that hasn't had changes. If they don't change they will be out of business the way the economy is these days, just like some other companies. If they don't make money, then I don't make money. So, what is so different with OSi compared to other companies? I see complaints constantly about all companies. I don't think it is the fault of the company that they outsource or use voice recognition. It just is life on life's terms these days. There is still enough work for us, at least for me.
Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need. I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
The owners haven't changed, MT supe hasn't changed
I've been in their office. I know the people. It is a sweat shop and you will never be paid a decent amount or get respect. You won't know which is a good or a bad day for the person you report to until you literally get yelled at.
They have to offer bonuses because their reputation is that bad and nothing has changed. You may get work that has been recorded 3 times from some of the worst accounts you could ever imagine. They take accounts no one else will touch. That hasn't changed.
They changed buildings so maybe the phone number also changed...
They are still going strong...
insurance for part time
Does anyone offer health insurance for part timers? I'm working for Zylomed (radiology) and am happy there, but will be going off of Cobra soon and need benefits and they only offer them to full timers (and that's just becoming available).
A lot of the time the insurance premium comes out
I am not the person above who is paying those premiums, but there are also flexible spending accounts that sometimes help with healthcare. With MT, you can supplement very easily by taking overflow or having a small account on the side. Some people tend to take extra jobs. In all my years, I can honestly say that I have never worked only one MT job. I have always held a full-time job with side accounts. I fortunately can now work full-time from home as an independent contractor, but I prefer piece work and making my own hours for the sake of my children at least for now. I plan to maybe go back to in-house but not strictly transcription once my children are older. Who knows what the future holds? I think if you are a single Mom and have the willpower you can make a go of MT as long as you budget and know what is needed to survive and not just what is wanted to survive if you know what I mean. I would never trade being at home when my kids come through the door for school for all of the money in the world. I love it and so do they.
Part time with insurance?
Anyone know of a company where you can work part time that offers insurance? (yeah, I'm probably dreaming).
Yes, time clock. No insurance or any benefits for parttime.
x
Ha! There was a spoof on SNL a long time ago, something like Dave's insurance. sm
I've been burned by insurance companies before, so I understand.
Any companies offer health insurance for part time?
After 90 days full time, you are eligible for health insurance, 401k, Aflac, sm
and life insurance. One year for PTO. Direct deposit right away.
I am happy at Keystrokes, and happy with the benefits. The insurance is a little high, but my husband has a union job and it would cost us more to have him carry all of us.
The HappyKeystrokes poster seems to give a lot of misinformation. I have as much work as I can handle, but I do not type 350 lph or whatever amount she/he claims. I average 200 lph, up a little some days, down a little other days, but that depends on the doctors dictating, my motivation for the day, etc. Spring is the worst as I have hayfever and headphones bother my ears right now.
My check is right, is on time and is direct deposited. My taxes withheld are correct and SS has been paid (unlike somewhere else I worked that messed up my SS and did take out for state taxes). My lead is supportive and I think the company cares about their employees. I am happy with Keystrokes and cringe when I see posts like Happy Keystroker writes, which make us all look like Stepford Wives. This is a job, just with a company that I like working for.
I wanted to paint a more realistic picture.
VERY expensive
I think it was almost $300/mo for single and much more for kids/family. No dental.
Have you looked to see if your state offers some kind of subsidized health plan for kids? There's one in my state and the income guidelines are quite generous and it was very easy to sign up for - downloaded the forms off the internet and sent them in. I would suggest you do a little research in that direction.
MQ has good benefits, but good luck to a newbie getting the 150 lph on those teaching hospital accounts that you'll need to maintain your benefits.
That is really expensive
for insurance. I could never afford that.
You have to buy a lot of very expensive
equipment - a $300 router, a special modem, and their special telephony equipment. They only do overflow work, accounts not too bad, but there are problems there.
Self-pay for me is less expensive
I work for Keystrokes but unfortuantely their group insurance is more for me than what I pay on my own. I am told it is because of the overall health status of the group involved. If you are healthy, have no preexisting medical conditions, take no medications, and do not smoke you will find that a private plan is more reasonable than a group plan where the majority enrolled are over weight, have chronic illnesses and take prescription medications. Another good reason to stay in shape girls. :)
Very expensive
COBRA is normally offered when your personal or job insurance is no longer active (ex: you quit your job, you were let go). The rates are generally high, there is a cost for others added on to your insurance, and I believe it is only good for 18 months. You may want to check with other medical insurance companies and compare pricing. If there are any pre-exisiting conditions, you will want to find out about the waiting period for that (normally 6 months) as long as you have been covered within the last 6 months. Hope this helps.
TransTech is not less expensive than that...sm
my plan costs what you are paying now with the surcharge, but they have added a high deductible plan that is about 60% of the cost of a regular health plan.
I am getting a little desparate paying these premiums, too. I hope you find something better.
Unfortunately, no. The last job I had the COBRA was too expensive, so I did
not get it, and had about a 4-month lapse.
I guess India got too expensive.
Glad I quit.
I thought they were looking for less expensive plans
xx
Psychiatric help is also expensive, but I think you should check into it anyway. nm
You want to PURCHASE your own platform? Platforms are very expensive so

There's 49 other states who are tired of hearing how expensive CA is. nm,

You sound like the "gambling is expensive" nutcase. nm
She's right above -- just go away.
Is it possible to do call forwarding to one of those expensive phone sex lines? teehee.

They are nice people, but the pay is on the low side, benefits were expensive and they overhire. nm

For decent private individual policies, it is very expensive for a family.
Unless, you have a $5000-7500 deductible and a 50% copay on prescriptions which is bad for us because my son takes medication that costs $160 a month. If we went with a policy equal to what my job provides, the premium is over $1000 a month. With my job, I am paying about $400 a month for family coverage.
401k funds are protected by govt insurance similar to the insurance
that banks have (FDIC). It is safe even if the company goes under.
The insurance cost is double for Transcend but insurance probably doesn't factor in for her.
I have heard more good things about Axolotl than Transcend, although it seems Axolotl may be less flexible with your schedule and someone told me that QA was pretty strict, which should not matter either if you have worked for a hospital and know what your QA score is.
The insurance plan in my opinion is excellent insurance. I am not sure if it will change when it'
time to renew or not. I really hope not but I know that a lot of companies change every year in an effort to keep costs down because most insurance companies start raising rates after you have been with them a year. The insurance is Great West and they also have excellent dental and vision plans. I believe the cost is less than $70 a pay period for the employee.
Well I am one of the ones who has talked with them....SM
The pay they quoted me was fairly good though not all that great, but I'm really looking for a smaller company and to get away from the really big companies. I did email with one MT who said she had been with them for 3 months and is now moving from PT to FT because she likes the money she is able to make with them. I took that as a good sign lol. I also looked them up in the archives and could find nothing negative.
I know what you mean about thinking with a maybe this will be the one attitude. I've been really disappointed in my search over the last few months.
I really think what is showing through as excitement in these threads (or just this one lol) is the fact that someone finally heard back from this company. I also think it took a while because it IS small and maybe they are extremely busy. I think the smaller MTSOs and their managers, account leaders, etc., probably all have too much to do everywhere so maybe these particular ladies really have just not had the time to finish up their hiring. JMO you understand.
If you are still looking, maybe you should email them and see if they still have openings. Their ad is on the job board. Just be prepared to possibly wait a couple of a few days for a response lol.
When i talked to them
they were very, very rude!
Only because we do so much rad. I talked to someone who sm
went to a radiology conference this week in Chicago (a radiologist friend) who told me that Keystrokes is everywhere and that whenever he talks to others in radiology, they all mention them. I hope that is good for all of us. I feel secure knowing that. He knows I work for them, so he made sure to tell me that they are very respected in the world of radiology!
I think I talked to them about 18
months ago, and that's what they were offering. Then I asked questions about how efficient things were, and it sounded rather time-consuming to me. They may have improved things by now, of course.
both I talked to
were women. I was actually told the Nuance recruiter wasn't with the company, but her email is still listed with them. This lady had a very thick northern city accent.
What was the name of the person you talked to? nm

I talked to them about IC status sm
and I really liked them. You might just call and ask. It would be IC status and you need your own equipment. They download their software.
I talked to her by telephone. sm
After about a 5-minute conversation, I knew I wouldn't be going to work for her. When I asked her about pay dates, she stated that MTs do not get paid until she receives payment from the client because, well, you just never know. She also stated that if she does not feel an MTs work is where she thinks it should be, she will lower their line rate. In my opinion, this person is very unprofessional. I agree with the above post about staying very far away from this business.
