Lanier accounts
How much do you define as a ton? I have a Lanier account, and while there is always work, add a few more full-time MTs on it and there won't be. This is a really big account, but the typical work loads are half of what they were when I started on it a year ago. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon of telling people to come get on my account.

Well, I am only part-time but I do around 1000 lines per day and am always being asked if I would like to do more.
MDI Lanier Accounts
Tomorrow I begin training on one of MDIs Lanier accounts, about which I'm VERY excited.
If anyone here who works on one of their Lanier accounts can enlighten me as to what to expect, such as the quality of the dictators, work flow, any idiosyncracies about the account, etc., I'd be forever appreciative.

Is all Keystrokes work done on Lanier or Cphone systems? Do they have any 'net accounts? Thx. nm

I think Lanier is only compatible with Lanier; however, call a techie guy to be sure. sm
DAC and Dictaphone are compatible with Dictaphone, DVI and VDI systems. Lanier is a monster all of its own! Unless you rerecord from the Lanier and then use the Lanier VXP player, as the MT companies do.

Since they have a Lanier account, just how did you think you could get a test without a Lanier?
only by them doing a re-record to make the test file in .wav format so you could take the test? That's why the sound quality is so bad. In addition, you want a degree of poor quality in your test files. Because that weeds out the quitters.
A lot of times, if they need extra help, they will over 1-1/2 times our regular rate. sm
This is the equivalent of OT but you get it even if you have not done 40 hours already. I have also received AmerExp gift cards a few times for incentives offered. I think it depends on the account.
I do know for sure that they are working on an incentive program but I have no details and not even sure if they are still looking at it.
I do know for sure that I make more $$ with Keystrokes than I have ever made anywhere else.

It was my regular shift. I do PT Sun-Thu, 2nd. I do a combination of VR/regular. Had no problems today, thank goodness

and are good at staying on task, etc., then I would advise you to go for it! I am horrible at keeping a good schedule - but I do have a second job and when I have 2 I find I actually work better because I know I have to knuckle down and get it done or else. They expect you to follow your schedule and if you are on a flexible account, they expect you to get the volume that you commit to. This is any job, not just transcription. They have all employees; if someone needs to be able to work only when they can without a schedule, then KS is definitely not the place for them. That is more of an IC position. If you are an ortho or clinic MT, a lot of the accounts have 24-hour TAT and can be flexible, so it is all in what you are looking for and each account is different.
I once had a second job that was just for certain scheduled hours.
It was an easy account so lines were not a problem either way. They never mentioned a minimum line count. I was expected to empty out my queue on the dictaphone if I could, but they were great about not putting too much on. If I didn't finish it I just had to let them know so they could do what was left. It was a small local company that just had one cardiology group account. Keep looking, you may find what you need yet!

Were you scheduled to work?
I know sometimes when I'm not scheduled to work but have to make up hours or lines, I don't get work when I log on.
I was slow yesterday but had work. (It was my scheduled weekend, for those who think I'm trying to steal work.)
not picky about punching in right when you are scheduled,
just so you get your work done. Also, remember the time clock and punching in out keeps track of your lines per hour which the more lines per hour the more you are paid. Its not bad at all!!!
Can't work when you're scheduled
They have plenty of work but can't get into their system. They either have too many working or not enough.

I work MY SCHEDULED Hours, do you?
Let's not fight about this. I stated some do not and then scramble on the weekends to make up time, then the work is low on Monday, WHICH IS MY SCHEDULED DAY.
If you are not scheduled to work the holiday, then
you shouldn't unless the call goes out for extra help.
If you jump on when you're not scheduled to work and you have all your hours and lines, you're just taking away from those that are scheduled to work. Don't be greedy.
If the holiday is your scheduled day to work....
then you work, unless you have pre-scheduled the time off. There is a holiday line bonus added onto lines worked on the holiday.
How do we figure when they say 1-1/2 lines ^outside^ of your scheduled hours
Is that your lines, i.e. 500 lines x1/2 = 750 lines total.
Is that what 1-1/2 lines mean? Confusing. How in the world can we tell if we get paid for those by the line counting method we use, Ichart?
At MQ you have to work your full scheduled hours.
They need the have all the hours covered for stats and such. I dont understand the 2 different offers for FT, I would think the latter would be PT. If you get paid by production then it would be entirely up to you how many hours you wanted to work a day. Does the 8 hour day pay more or have better benefits?

But on Monday my DD went in for emergency surgery. I did not even come home for the first 2 days and only made 1 call to the office to explain early in the week. My DD was finally discharged on Christmas only to return to the ER last night. Do you know what TT's answer was with my 1 measly phone call and one abbreviated email I had time for to them? Family comes first - PERIOD. So, I am on trying to help out today if they need me and I will be GLAD to suffer thru some low work time and stare at a blank screen for a company who has those kinds of values. I VERYMUCH appreciate my job with TT and all that they stand for...

At Webmedx, if you're scheduled for 35 hours, you may find (like I did) that (sm)
you have to do 40 due to the time clock situation.

I think OT is great, took advantage of some Friday myself, but for goodness sake, don't just go off for the weekend leaving OT offered when the counts are WAAAY down. Can the Solution Center take OT off or do they have to wait for supervisors/etc. to do so. When someone comes on for OT and they give them blocks of 10, doesn't take long to run the rest of us totally out of our shift. Love everything else about this company, but..... this sucks.
Workload has reached a manageable level with everyone working scheduled hours.
Voluntary OT is still available on some accounts.

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the amount of light in the display on this piece of equipment? In the small screen, I can see fine but in the larger screen there is not as much light, and it is really hard to read the numbers. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using a Lanier or a DAC?
I have good quality with my DAC unit. My main account is Dictaphone and my first secondary is Lanier, both the same quality audio.
I use Lanier at MDI
Lanier is similar to C-phone in how it functions. If by referencing old reports you mean samples, you can ask your supervisor for samples of any dictator and she'll get you samples. If you need to look at reports you have done previously you can pull those up yourself, yes, even while working on a current job. You just open another internet window, log into Bayscribe (so you would have 2 different Bayscribe windows open) and look up your old jobs from that day or a month ago.. whatever.
The demographics for Lanier and C-phone accounts have to be put in manually, but I find that I enter them faster with Lanier because you look at a little screen with them rather than waiting for the C-phone prompts telling you what they are, but you do have to be careful that you've entered correct information.

i know lanier is old.... are there any companies still using Lanier? I am so used to that system that my job is switching to wave pedals which I know is the new thing. Also are there any great Radiology transcription companies that anyone can suggest... Please it has to be per line, not per report as I just left one paying $1.10. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

I would imagine that the work flow, quality of dictators, etc. is going to depend on *which* Lanier account you are on. I have one but it may be different than the one you are on (which can't be listed here), so I can't be really helpful when we are talking in general terms. I really really hate this company. The hospital I was working in with them to get out of the old DOS platform. It took them several weeks to get it up and running, and I use the word running loosely. Most of us worked at home and they could NOT get the home employees up and running. We had so many service calls it got to the point they were telling us we had no more calls per contract. The system couldn't count lines either. It ended up with the employees having to come back in-house to work and because of the lack of ability to count, the bonuses were gone which averaged 1500.00 a month. A 65,000 a year job GONE because of those goofs.

Lanier at MDI is just for the dictation...sm
It connects to your telephone. If you only have 1 phone line, it will stay busy the entire time you are connected, you cannot use call waiting. You also pay the long distance. The Lanier gives you the voice to type and you type the reports on your computer in the Bayscribe program which means you have to connect to that website on the internet. Bayscribe does not fill in the Lanier screen info, job numbers, dates, etc. You have to do that manually. You do not have access to other reports, only ones you have done previously and you cannot access even that when you are in a report (unless you go out and come back and restore the report as if the power went off, which is way too much trouble).
One good thing is that if you have another phone line you could use dial up if you don't have DSL or cable.
