Anyone from Kansas City?
Kansas City
Moved back to KC about 6 months ago, lived here about 15 years ago and now back, what part are you in?
Kansas City
Yeah, the Missouri and Kansas boards haven't been touched for a year maybe! There doesn't seem to be many successful transcription companies in Kansas City.

What else is new **small hospitals** sm
I'd like to know who the salespeople are at this company. All these small accounts with their picky instructions. Why don't we have even one huge medical facility?
Anyone know of any small companies in Michigan or hospitals that hire MTs that you may be familiar
with the type of work.
For a small rural hospital
I get paid $1.25 a minute of dictation for all transcription including radiology.
Then a small co or a local hospital SM
would be better. You are not going to find an MT service of any size that doesn't have a bunch of ESL dictators. That's just the way it is.
I work for a small hospital...
which is going through some changes (selling out to another organization). My question to you is what area are you in. I have been trying to get an hourly rate for my area for a while now and can not get an answer. I also get paid per minute, not production per se, just a certain amount for every minute of dictation I do. I do the basic four which also includes radiology and psychiatry. A little over a third of my work is radiology. Please e-mail me.
Gosh yes! Unless it's a small hospital
there should be plenty of ER work. I used to contract with a hospital and did only the outpatient ERs (the hospital did the ones where the patient was admitted, I did the ones where the patient was sent home). It kept me and a subcontractor busy full time, and sometimes I had more than 2 of us on the account.
ERs are short dictations - a lot of times just 1 minute long, but a lot of lines for that 1 minute.
I lost my ER account because they went to T chart, where they just click the screen and put in the information from the visit and it generates a report for them. I miss it so much. If I had a chance to get another ER account I would jump on it!!!
This happened to me in a small hospital I worked at SM
several years ago. They actually saved the ESLs for me! With that on top of DS which I can't make money with (I love OPs), I found another job.
A friend of mine works for a hospital that has hired a director from one of the hospitals in
Pittsburgh and she wondered if he outsourced a lot of work or what he did when he goes into a new hospital. They have all at home employees now. I believe it was Allegheny Hospital.
It is not the hospitals on a short TAT it is what MQ wants to make the hospitals very happy with
them. I would assume the accounts are on 12, 24 or 48 TAT but wouldnt they love having their work back no sooner than it is dictated.

River City Transcription
Does anybody know anything about this company? They offered me a position, but I want to make sure before I accept. Thanks!
River City Transcription
I'm not so sure about this company. They want me to have Word 2000 or 2001 installed on my computer. I told them I have not used that version of Word in years and that I have Word 2003 and 2007. I like to stay up-to-date with the latest technology and software. Not so sure about these people...sounds kind of old fashion to me.
River City Transcription
They never got back to me when I told them that I have MS Word 2003 and also a copy of 2007. I do not think I am going to waste my time with this company.
Is DTS in Oklahoma City and DTS in Tennessee the same? sm

I have worked for Cardioscribes since July. I live in Kansas.
The owner actually lives in Kentucky. I guess if you don't want any Indian connections, you can just decide not to respond to the job post. As far as deception goes, I don't see any. I am very happy with the company.

Diskriter off off offshores - and on some hospital accounts - they have not informed the hospital

Jewish is the main hospital, St. Mary's is another hospital under their management. (nm)

First for hospital, then outsourced still on same hospital work
and believe it or not, the hospital was so much easier. Had worked at the hospital for 11 years before they outsourced and then worked another 3+ years for the company they outsourced to. What a difference! The company had so many rules and regulations you could hardly keep up with them all, thousands of them, on the same account, mind you. The higher ups would not leave you alone, constant IMs about any and all. I have gotten to the age where I do not need all that and walked the other week. Have scheduled testing with another hospital for this month. Hope I make the cut, love the hospital work 1000 times more than a company.
HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY ARE GETTING RID OF THE LITTLE HOSPITALS THAT WON'T DQS?
X
So does that mean that the hospitals (sm)
(their website indicates US-based hospitals) that use this company are okay with this level of quality that the QA in India provides? Thank you.
Is there anyone else who would like to see hospitals (or more hospitals)
offer transcriptionists the opportunity to work at home directly for them, with decent hourly pay that is at least consistent with the cost of living in the employee's particular region (and assuming that the MT would be working at home for a hospital that is in her/his region), with same employee benefits as the on-site employees?
hospitals?
i've been applying to the hospitals in the area about every 6 months, and no one is hiring. i don't even think hospitals or doctors offices have MTs anymore...not my doctors office, and not another place i applied for a job...they have these little hand held things they dictate into that transcribe their words right there and then, they print it out, sign it, stick it in the chart, over and done.
if i weren't 10 years away from retirement, there is no way i would get into this business. having been doing this for over 20 years, its hard to find something else.
i've got work today, but its crappy work, the national cesspool stuff, and my line count is going to be so far below the minimum requirement it won't be funny. but they shouldn't mind, since it means they won't have to pay too much at the holiday rate.
but i keep applying and looking and applying and i know something good will hopefully come my way eventually.
in the meantime, i've had to get a 2nd job, part-time, another at home MT job, with a much smaller company, all IC employees, and i'd jump ship in a second and work for them full time if that wasn't the case because they are like night and day from the place i work for full-time now, but i need benefits, am single, own my own home, and will soon be one of those old ladies living out of shopping carts on the street, eating out of dumpsters, at this rate.
