Keystroke radiology - flexible shift or strict?

I have tried searching the archives and found conflicting information.  A few posts say you must work an assigned shift but other posts say work when you want.  Which is it, or is it both depending on the account?

3rd shift radiology can be like that. Feast or famine. Same with 3rd shift sm
ER work. Sometimes the doctors are too busy to dictate, so they do it at the end. Why don't you talk to them and ask about a different shift?
They are extremely flexible regarding your shift
They will work with you and if you want third, you can do partial third and first or split other times. They do not stare at you every minute either. They expect you are mature and will be there. You can even swing either way on the times and it is no problem. You will find that flexibility will be a key to your productivity there and that they are willing to work with you. They are the only company I find who works with employees with such good benefits at the same time... Good Luck!
Anyone know of a company looking for 13 years experience to work flexible part-time shift
I'm getting my real estate license but still want to keep my transcription job part-time.  I'm looking for a job that will allow me to work about 20 hours a week and still have the flexibility to show a home on the spur of the moment.  Thanks, I would appreciate any info!
I know two people who work 3rd shift for Keystrokes on radiology and have a lot of work. Maybe you
on an account that has enough work. I hate to hear that someone doesn't have enough work or that they have a problem because I know that Keystrokes works to find the right account for every person. They do a lot for us but you have to talk to them until you find the right account or volume or hours for you.

I think that a lot of companies are that way but there is a lot of job-hopping in transcription. Everyone is looking for the perfect job but the grass is not always greener on the other side. There are a few MTSO's really are not good but for the most part, the others don't intentionally drive people away. That would not make sense. They need us to work as much as we need them to have the work there for us.

This is true. Shift does matter. I work 2nd shift and really have not had any issues with not havi
x
How flexible is flexible? A window of time? nm
.
Ya know, even if I spend time during my shift or after that shift

it is still MY time, expected by the company, and I am not getting paid for it regardless.  I don't answer my phone while I am working, never did, never will.  What other profession, while probably punching a clock, do folks work for free?  If I worked in an office doing this, that time would be paid - say 15 minutes a day x 5 days a week at even $10/hour =   $50 a month - and it is more time spent than that to deal with the email thing and the reminders and the changes in specifics and logging in and out of 3 different accounts when primary is out of work.  GRRR.

I don't change jobs easily either, glad you are happy where you are - but producing 1400 lines of ACCURATE text will end my career soon (and probably yours also) and then what are we all to do?  My goal is not to work more, work harder and longer hours to produce a salary I can live on.

Strict TAT
I think there is work. From my experience, the MTSOs just want the work done within minutes, so they overstaff the accounts to make sure there is never a backlog. Good for them, bad for the MT.
Way too strict about scheduling
x
Very strict. If you have any question SM
as to whether you can make the minimum, don't even apply.  This also goes for when the work is low, they still expect minimum.
Thank you. I DO appreciate it. I do deal with strict QA now...sm
but at least they don't threaten to deduct your paycheck for it.

It sounds like their (Transolutions) QA is a lot tougher now...hmmmm....maybe it's not worth the extra benes...

Thanks again MTMT.
As far as I know, in the strict Muslim
countries, to which Saudi Arabia belongs, women are only allowed to work as nurses or teachers.

They want American MTs because they perceive them, rightfully, as the best, and they are ready to pay well for quality.

I see this as compliment. It is not that Muslim men and women regard every foreign women as immoral. They judge and differentiate according to the woman's behavior. If she is decent and virtuous, she is treated with respect.
I can imagine that there are restrictions regarding clothing, food and drinks, and lifestyle in general, but if we decide to live in another continent with a different religion and culture, we have to respect that.
pay by keystroke
Pay by keystroke?  Anyone familiar with this.  I am concerned as I have only been paid in the past at cpl.  I am currently being paid 10 cpl which I know is good in today's market and don't want to take a cut.  I type approximately 1800-2000 lines per 8/hour shift.
keystroke pay
How does word Expander fit into this kepstroke pay approach?
keystroke
means just that, you are paid for the keys you actually hit.  Thus "tp" with word Expander becomes "the patient" but you will be paid only for the "tp" you actually typed.  I expect this to be universal in the not too distant future.
keystroke
keystroke means everything typed - characters, spaces, punctuation. I work for them and have found it to be right on par with getting paid on a per line basis.
If they pay by the keystroke, does that mean
that you don't get paid per character when using ShortHand or a PRD? For example, I'm thinking that if you typed asap for as soon as possible you would only get paid for 4 Keystrokes (the asap)?
Keystrokes has the best radiology accounts IMO. I have plenty of work and radiology only. nm
I make a good living and rarely run out of work. When I do, it is for a few minutes at a time and usually because the rads have not started early enough. No other complaints!
Do you know how strict they are on their required experience? Thanks! nm
xx
When I worked for JLG, it was pretty strict sm
about work schedules. I did not realized they kept track of my time via the ICQ messenger, which I kept turning off because of persistent, numerous, disruptive, and annoying messages from people on the Net I didn't know. I didn't realize this and had to make up for time they claimed I didn't work but actually did. Maybe it's better now.
Are they extremely strict with schedules? nm
x
They're very strict with their lines sm

You'll get harrassing certified letters and nasty e-mails.  You're required to meet your lines by the 3rd payperiod.  They get really nasty to you too...they were all sugar sweet and helpful until I stood up for myself, and then their true colors came through.

Unless you're a very fast transcriptionist, it's almost impossible to make your lines.  I'm just an average transcriptionist.  I have always been able to make my lines at other places of employment, but never at TH.  They run out of work A LOT (read--nearly every single day) and have a butt-load of foreign doctors.  A really bad combination if you want to make your lines.

Some people love them, but I'm not one 'em!  I'm glad they're ancient history with me.  I work for a much better company now.

Ugh ...recruiter sent me the info .. seems very strict .. thanks nm
z
Better read the IRS specs first. There are strict....sm
instructions on whether to call a worker an IC or an employee. An employer can be in big trouble for mandating any specifications of a job if he/she is calling a worker an IC. They are starting to crack down on that, too, especially with companies who have several workers. It's about time, in my opinion, that places get in trouble! If you don't put up with it, it will stop happening.
Info. on Keystroke Pro?
Anybody know anything about Keystroke Pro?  I believe they are based in the eastern U.S. and do mostly radiology accounts.
Info. on Keystroke Pro?

Thanks for the information.  I wasn't looking for a job there, they just left me a message about doing work for our acute-care radiology department and I was just curious since I had never heard of that particular company.

Appreciate the response!

Keystroke treads - sm
Wonder how long before the threads about Keystrokes will stay on this board before they are removed, like all the rest disappear?
Keystroke expanders
Can anyone recommend a keystroke Expander software program? I have heard Instant Text and Shorthand are good.
getting paid by keystroke/DRC
I realize now there is a company named Keystroke, and I am not referring to that.  I simply want to know what it means to be paid by the keystroke and how this correlates to cpl pay.  Anyone with input on this?  Is this different from being paid by the character and what happens with word Expander programs?  Thanks.
Keystroke clarification..
I mean being paid by the keystroke, not the company Keystroke.  Sorry for the confusion.
Keystroke MT: E-mail me please if -
you work on an OPs account only.  Looking to find happy Keystrokes people on Ops accounts.  Never met an unhappy KS person :) but would like to speak to someone who does the above type account.  Thanks!!!
Keystroke Info
You may a wise choice, and welcome to Keystrokes! I will try to help you. I have only been there since January myself, so I cannot help on the day off question. However, there will be new health insurance in place by the time you are eligible. The owner of Keystrokes is working diligently to get the best rates and coverage. We still don't have that information yet, but we are reassured that we will be pleased with the new insurance. We also just started with AFLAC, but, again, I am not eligible for those benefits yet. I hope you get your other questions answered. I am very satisfied with company and hope to retire here. The owner actually encourages you to contact her with any concerns you need addressed. Again, welcome to Keystrokes!
Keystroke posters
It could also be because when they post questions on the other board which they are given access to when they begin working for KS - they are required to use the KS initials so that their supervisor can check up on them and see if they made an inquiry to the MTdaily board before leaving a blank.  Then if they haven't - it's a reprimand.  Been there - done that - glad it's over.
this must be a Keystroke representative...

Keystroke Questions
Have been an MT at MQ for 9 years, thinking of applying at KS where the MTs seem to be much happier.  MQ provides all equipment so I am wondering just what I would need.  I make 9 cpl now, would their pay be comparable?  Would I need to purchase an expander?  Do they pay less for editing? Any help is appreciated.
If every keystroke is counted, how could it not

Does anyone have the email for Keystroke? Thanks :-)

WEBMEDX - how strict are they with their schedules and clocking in and out? TIA nm

I have to work 8-hour strict schedule SM
Platform is either Chartmatrix or Enterprise, average pay, the company is just average all around.  It's not horrible but it also isn't great.  Up until 6 months ago I would have recommended to give them a try, but they have started this downhill slide, feels more like Spheris now.  I have felt this for the last 6 months.  When the job market opens up a bit more I'm going to look around.
Can someone elaborate on the strict conditions of the contract?
The IC contract under which I currently work is very flexible and I've never had a problem with the MTSO except work is a little slow right now so I've got to be VERY flexible to make my lines.

I was considering a few other places to fill in the gap and Fast Chart was one of them.

I'd love more details about how restrictive the contract is and more details about the pay cut you'd be expected to take. Is their salary lower than the other MTSOs?

Thanks for any extra enlightenment you can provide!
I just did a Google on Keystroke Pro and they are based in sm

The UK but do work in the U.S. too.  I could not find much except their website.

Keystrokes Transcription Service in Illinois has customers and transcriptionists all over the United States with no work sent out of the country.  This is off their website.  There are too - www.WeTypeXray.com and www.KeystrokesTranscription.com.

Happy Weekend!

message for Keystroke staff
How long did it take from the time you sent in your resume, answered all questions, and took the test to be notified if you were accepted (or not)?
Current Keystroke MT's - please read!
Why or why do they never get back to you? If I did lousy on their test (which I very much doubt) at least write and tell me! I've got 25 years experience. I am currently doing radiology (and have been for the last ten years) and heard that they were a great company. But they never, ever get back to you when you test, e-mail, etc. Is something going on there? Are they still good to work for? I don't want insurance even! Just looking for a decent employer, good line rate and pleasant co-workers. On my part I am a hard and dedicated employee looking for a great company to affiliate with. Anyone have any info???
Are Keystroke part times ICs? nm

Keystrokes for radiology. They are the biggest for radiology out of all of the companies out there.
I have been there 2 years and have been very happy. I make a lot more money than when I worked for Edix/Spheris.
While I think it would be difficult to work a very strict schedule at home - sm
I do believe that every MT should have a window in which they are expected to do their work. That benefits everyone involved, the MT, the company, as well as the hospital. I pretty much adhere to the same hours every day, unless something unexpected (emergency situation) comes up. I just think it is easier that way. However, in the summer time, I like to adjust my hours a bit to be able to work in the early a.m. while the kids are still sleeping. I work the same hours over the summer though. Working at home around your family is not easy, so there has to be a little flexibility on both sides. Going to an office to work without your everyday family and life interruptions, I believe, is quite different.
I think the only thing they are strict on is downloading things to the computer. sm
General surfing the web and stuff isn't a problem. I surf the web all the time for medical references, etc... and I haven't ever had a problem. I know that they are strict about not downloading anything to the computer because it may cause a conflict with the software they use.

Hope that helps.
Just curious...how strict is TT about having 5 years' experience before applying? NM
x
Strict on the days. It depends on the account as to the flexibility. nm

Does Webmedx has a strict schedule or a window to get work done?
I tried searching boards, but too many entries came up. Thanks
