KS doesn't overhire, so there is no guarantee

In Reply to: Normally as an employee there is an option - if you don't take the benefits that you get som
that all those leaving MQ and applying at KS will even get a position. They have at least 3 platforms that I know of and maybe more other than Meditech.
I never worked for MQ and never worked on Meditech so I can't compare. From what I have heard about MQ I don't know how any company could possibly be worse .

TT doesn't care about their MT's anymore; just under Dictaphone's direction and OVERHIRE du
knowing that they were going to lose MT's due to the recent strong enforcement policy that every MT going to VR and low PAY. They hired early to take care of the loss of MT's due to this policy.
Most of their accounts were acquired through Dictaphone and are Dictaphone controlled!!!! TT has picked up an account or 2 on their own, but most work is handed down by Dictaphone.
Of course, there is always TT mgmt's excuse of it being a holiday, doctors on vacation, low census at hospitals due to patient's not getting admitted due to a new year with insurance new deductible, and of course, that always EXCUSE of new accounts coming onboard (and NOT), but we can't tell you about it !!!!!
They are actually trying to get rid of MT's who have tried VR and did not like it, so are continuing to get paid their normal, low line rate by doing straight transcription, like we get a FORTUNE at TT anyway for straight transcription. But mgmt has to find a way to keep their paychecks GOING UP AND UP . . .
Well - as an IC, they can not guarantee you any
certain amount of work or hours - that is protecting them from labor laws and is standard wording in most of the IC contracts I have read, had my attorney review, and signed.
Second, the indemnity clause is in the same category as far as liability. No big deal. If something major were to occur and it was their fault, legally, there are ways around that. Not to worry about it.
They are a good company, pay on time, and decent people.
Many companies have those clauses in their IC contrast nowadays!
You can always add your own addendum to any contract, attach it, make a copy for yourself, and have them sign it and mail it back to you.
Good luck!
I guarantee it is not 6 or 7 cpl
Axolotl pays very COMPETITIVE line rates. They would not insult an experienced MT like that.
NOT SHAPIN. I can guarantee you that. nm
.
Then can almost guarantee they are lying.
nm
A union cannot guarantee you a job.
x
I guarantee you I could type the sm
reports straight-out that you are doing VR on and I would make a heck of alot more money! VR is crap and is doing nothing but making slaves out of MTs and allowing MTs with little experience to do VR.
I have seen the results of VR on my own medical records and it is a joke! Lots of folks are ignoring VR mistakes just to get by and get lines and QA doesn't care. The bottom line is money, money money! Its not money for the MT or VR person either, its money for the company! You can bet your behind they are charging a whole lot more than you are making! They are charging regular line counts and you are getting paid VR line wages!
Anybody who thinks this is good for the patients, the hospitals, the doctors or the MT in general is a little off!
No CPL guarantee whatsoever
This question was asked very directly on the conference call I was in on today. The question went like this (to paraphrase) if I choose to remain as an IC or SE (we were told by CB that SE status is available), will I receive the same pay rate I do right now. We were told by CB that this - along with pretty much every other issue - will be discussed on an individual basis with HR. So, there was no answer, no guarantee in any way. How could D have done this? To not even at the very least negotiate this one hugely important issue FOR US, HER MTs???? to insist that we all get grandfathered in for our current rates. Period. I could care less about being grandfathered in for cruddy health insurance which I will take a pay cut for.
There's no guarantee it works, hence a crapshoot. nm
nm
need to get my glasses checked. The guarantee for the
rose-coloring must have expired and now everything looks gray and bleak at this company. Glad you are as lucky as you are.
Do any companies guarantee lines?
Like in the case if you ran out of work during the day, would they compensate for missed lines and you would not have to make them up?
I guarantee you, you are not the norm. Why lead someone that needs to make a living into a
situation that is getting worse all the time with lost accounts and over hiring and not knowing yet what the pay scale will be.
Doesn't apply if your OSI account doesn't use Ichart.
It is the Ichart only for OSi where you are cheated.
They overhire -sm
Can't give you enough work if they overhire. Grave and early day shift are out of work when they sign on, or shortly after. They want all the accounts cleaned out by evening, and then there is nothing left for anyone else.
Well I never know when they overhire...
I have never run out of work unless it is around the major holidays when people would rather spend their money anywhere but the doctors/hospitals (don't blame them)!
Actually looking forward to them hiring some help...the accounts are so busy and we keep getting new ones...one can only type so fast for so long...lol!
Used to be, not any more. Overhire is the name of
the game, so you are lucky if you can get your line counts. Just like any other big company, you are just another set of hands and another number. Their platform is terrible.
They do overhire.
?
They definitely overhire
Not only do they over hire, they are turning to all ASR soon, which is a cut in pay. Working on secondary and third accounts most days due to the over hiring situation. Will not give me a fourth account. Have 25+ years experience and transcribe it all, so inexperience not the issue. This is a dying business.
I think they overhire so they can have
up to the minute turnaround time. They don't care if we MTs have enough work. They only care that they look good with there lickity split turnaround time and screw the rest of us workers. For instance, there is no need to get in a panic if there are 200 jobs in the backlog that ARE NOT out of TAT. That just means there will be plenty of work for the next shift of workers and they won't be sitting at their desks fighting over the 1 job that comes into their work pools. It doesn't mean that it is time to hire 15 new employees, and it doesn't mean it is time to send out a distress signal for OT or the world is going to end. If these companies could understand that, I think we would all be a little happier.
I wish they would not overhire!
I have been at work for two hours and have already run out five times and currently have none.
Did they overhire or something earlier. nm
:
Overhire. I see 4 or 5 new names on
my accounts every week, and we never needed any help.
They way overhire and it can be very hard
to get lines because there isn't work. Some accounts have tons of work, but they won't let them be used as backup accounts. They do pay on time and if there is a holiday on payday they pay before. FT is considered 35 hours. You have a 12-hour window to do the work. They do expect you to work your schedule to cover TAT, although due to overhiring there frequently may not be work on your shift to get your hours in and they do expect you to make them up - but because they overhire it may not be possible to do.
I think you could do worse, though they have lots of room for improvement. There are some dips for STMS, which is your main contact, which may make your experience good/bad.
Can you say overhire...I knew you could.
Don't bother unless you like A LOT of flexibility in your day. Have a backup job so when there is no work I can work elsewhere. There is more work at night so if you like working evenings and nights this could work out for you.
I worked for WMX. They overhire, especially when
a new account is coming on-line. I ran out of work sometimes just 2 hours into my shift. I tried working my days off and other shifts to make up lines, but everyone else was doing the same and I still couldn't get my lines. I didn't have a good SCM and trying to get additional work took going to top management. There are some accounts that have a ton of work and on OT frequently, but they wanted people working on them as primary accounts and not backups.
If you need a FT paycheck I would not rely on WMX for it or at least would not quit your other job for several months to give the account time to balance out, for MTs to quit who hated it as much as I did, for MTs to quit who can't get their lines like I did, and for the account numbers to be consistent.
So, what's your opinion? Did they overhire? NM
nm
I've said it over and over again that they overhire and
rarely got 35 hours, usually under 20, even with 3 accounts. I was crucified every time I said anything, but this is not uncommon. When I left there were at least 5 months that left around the same time, for the same reason. I was depleting my savings because I wasn't making any money.
There are always some accounts that have a ton of work and have frequent OT, but they also tend to be horrible accounts.
With the holidays coming up there are going to have fewer people having elective surgery so the census will be done. MTs will be trying to get every line they can for Christmas money, so I can't forsee tha the work load is going to increase.
ya know - GREATFUL! they obviously do not overhire.
x
One word - OVERHIRE.
nm
They will overhire whether you pitch in or not so
Loyalty is a 2-way street. If you believe the company line and stick with it, let time tell, and the bill collectors begin to call. Just BTDT, and IMHO keep the client happy at the expense of overhiring to keep TAT is the first priority there, not to make sure that IC's commitments are accountable by the IC and the company too. Hope your dreamworld doesn't spoil if and when you wake up and smell the coffee. Good luck to you.
Agreed, they do overhire.
Yep they offshore, and they overhire sm
Worked for them over a year ago for about 3 months, and never had enough work, and now I am just being petty, but I want to mention also that they would never give back my deposit on my Dictaphone foot they supplied, which was only $50, but dang it, IT WAS MY MONEY. It just shows that they are kinda shifty.
TT doesn't pay for spaces or ExText doesn't
nm
Alltype is no good -- they overhire
nm
DSG notorious for overhire/prune (sm)
as standard operating procedure: hire/contract every warm body with a plausible-looking resume, overstaff accounts, give the whole thing a few weeks to settle down, then prune the bottom 40% of the producers or inactivate the part-timers. Advertise, rinse, repeat. Lots of services do this.
Exactly. Which is why MTSO's overhire...which I also see a lot of complaining about.
x
must be overhire awaiting new accounts ??? nm
n
Why? No work, overhire, or new policy?
?
They overhire. Their program stinks.
The training is worse. They outsource work so there is nothing left. The transcription program is horrible and you do 3 times as much work to do a document as you would anyplace else. You cannot use automatic numbering, you cannot do this, you cannot do that, and new rules every day. You spend all day clicking and changing everything.
"They" ALL overhire; it's please the client first; not the MTs.
I do not think they overhire. Instead, they make sure that we have enough work. sm
I don't Meditech. I like it actually. It really is just straight typing!
They way overhire. They do a big hiring for new accounts
and then when the dust settles there isn't enough work and a bunch leave. There are accounts with tons of work, but they are usually older accounts and for some reason they won't allow them to be used as backup accounts. Pay is better than most companies, but if you can't get your lines in it doesn't help. Pay always on time and if payday falls on a holiday pay is early.
They weren't a good fit for me, which turned out to be a good thing because I'm in a much better place now than I was with them, but I've worked for worse companies. If you are looking to work for one company I'd advise again that with Webmedx. I was only getting 12-15 hours in a week. I was always available my scheduled shift and was willing to work my days off, there just wasn't enough work.
They overhire constantly, worse when they get a new
account. There are some accounts that have tons of work and are frequently on OT, but then there are lots of accounts that run out of work several times a day. Definitely ask for another account, but it might take you several accounts to get your lines and then you've got all those different account specifcis to deal with.
And it's fair to overhire MTs, who need the money, then
What went around, has come around, it seems.
Don't do it. Pay is low. They overhire and work is low constantly.
nm
Only there a year. They OVERHIRE. Out of work...
Other than that, they're great.
It's not the hospitals. Can you say OVERHIRE, I knew you could.
I have tried to warn people about the work fluctuation when people would inquire but people obviously do not believe it. I have already moved on due to the low work.
Great..Now they can both OVERHIRE and underpay. NM
Sheesh.
TAT and staffing practices (do they overhire to make TAT?) Also...
is the work routed to you or is it first in/first out. You should be able to plug in and have at it, as much of it as you can do at your own pace, and whatever doctor (ESL or not) comes up, rather than have someone select for you and decide when your 'Q' will run out. Those practices will hold you back from making and working at your full potential.
Same ole story - overhire then weed out. Best move...sm
on before this gets to be a pattern. Might be a good company in some minds, but when it's not paying your bills how great is it, really?
Keystrokes does not overhire. There has been so much work on my account sm
that they are begging for overtime (and paying 1-1/2 times normal rate for it which is better than other companies that I have worked for!). One thing that no one can say about Keystrokes is that they overhire. They make sure we all have enough work before hiring more on an account. Yes, I have talked the owner about it so I got that information direct.
Also, I think the above poster is right. I think Becky is one of the owner's right-hand persons, her and Karen both. They are both very helpful, as is Jen who answers the phones and a few others.
They could get rid of the IS manager and a lot of us would have a party. She is horrible to deal with but I think is related to Lee or Jeff because she has been there a long time!
