If you want a job, and they want to know how to fit you for which department, best to say what you can do like basic 4 acute 10 years, etc. Nothing wrong with that question. They are just trying to match your skills with the job. Some MTs have only done clinic notes or psych notes and some have never done ops no matter 10 or 20 years, etc. Put yourself in their shoes and you will find a reasonable answer. IMHO

Nature of the job
QA is always loathed.
That's the nature of an MT
No problem... I do believe many of us are very much alike. I am always impatient and especially when it comes to work! I have often bugged my ISP at 3 in the morning LOL. But it got the job done...:)
Its the nature of this particular board because
no one has to actually register and be accountable. There are lots of other nice MT sites, professional, friendly, supportive, and this catty behavior just doesn't happen or isn't accepted. Its not censored out either - as in posts disappearing - but the threads get locked when someone says something nasty. Those posters quickly come back here to there anony turf where they can rag away!
It's human nature.
Grass is always greener on the other side. Human nature. At least there will be green for Christmas! LOL.
The nature of the business
.
Its human nature
to hear and see the bad. Bad always trumps good and the saddest part of all, the same people trashing it won't come back to post good things after they've tried it and were proven wrong.
Just be sure to also get therapy for your cold and thoughtless nature. nm

I understand that, but tis the nature of this profession to expect a slowdown sm

with major holidays -- Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, Labor Day, etc.  Patients do not go in for elective procedures, docs take time off, etc.  That's just part of the game.  I just try to put a little aside during the feast times to prepare for the famine times.

I think you should give them a chance.  They are good people and they do care.  I doubt you'll find ANY place that has a constant flow of work, 24/7.  If you, please let us all know so we can enjoy too.

How long does it take TransHealth to get back to someone when you send a resume? I sent a resume

Has anyone gotten a job from any company not posting regularly from their resume in the resume

If you don't complete what can you do? I don't,,,
work myself silly trying to get caught up. If I'm short, so be it....it's my paycheck, so I am really only harming myself in the wallet. The thing that irritates me is that when everyone is short they try to make up their time on their days off during my regular work time, taking work away from me.
you are a complete mess!!
ewwwwwww!
Complete with mug shot
with a lot of help from her
Why The Complete Turnaround... NOW
?? at this point in time? The problem is, begging for work like this is humiliating. You have work today, how about tomorrow? Will they open the flood gates again?
BTW--I complete my work in the daytime
..definitely not interested in 3rd shift!
Ad says if you complete testing, you will be entered

Don't know company, but post seems complete to me. nm

Complete medical transcription
has anyone ever heard of the co Complete Medical Transcription?  I was offered a job, ic status, but when she called the caller id came up as mynameisjoanna, WI no number.  Also her email just says joanna.  do you think this is an overseas co.  any thoughts??
It took me 6 months to get complete refund...
and I left the company in January. They at first only refunded me 100 dollars and said due damage to the monitor they would not be refunding the remaining 200. I explained to them there must be some mistake because the monitor was in perfect condition when I shipped it back to them but they still refused to refund the remaining 200 dollars, but then out of the blue I received a check last week for the 200 dollars and they sent an email saying Although the equipment was damaged, we have decided to refund the remaining 200 dollars anyway. Okay whatever but the equipment was not damaged when I shipped it back, but I am glad they decided to do the right thing.
The company has a complete checklist...
They state you must have Win XP for example.  They mention that Word 2000 is not compatible, but that Word 2003 is.  They don't say anything about Word 2002.  I work on another software that is web based and it's compatible with a USB pedal, so I kinda don't get why EditScript would need a 9-pin pedal to work, in which case I would need an adapter since my PC is all USB.
Our whole COUNTRY is full of complete

I'm being hateful to complete strangers?
you've got it all figured out, now don't you? Guess you told me, huh?

Are you dyslexic by any chance, or just in a rush to judgment? The first 10 years of my career, I was an in-house MT with great pay and benefits. We were respected employees in the hospital and I enjoyed a reputation as being a top-notch MT....that's how I got a 30% raise with free benefits at Baylor College Medicine and later at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, working during the hey-day of heart transplant advances made by such world-renown doctors as Dr. Denton Cooley and Dr. Michael DeBakey. You may have heard of them. So you see, I never really considered myself a failure, having been in the position to have the privilege of being a part of that. I guess I needed you to bring that to my attention.

After outsourcing, I maintained my connections to the Baylor and the TMC through my accounts and typed my way through ground-breaking AIDS research and later pioneering advances in plastic surgery. Silly me. I didn't measure my success in terms of dollars and cents, worldly possessions and the like. I took great pride in my work (still do) and learned to struggle through the love/hate relationship I had with it. At least I had the satisfaction of knowing that I was a part of something that was intelligent, important, worthwhile and helpful to others. I stayed in it for the only real reason I have ever understood throughout the years...quality patient care. I had a contribution to make to that. You see, dear, it was not an industry to me...it was my calling.

My post was an attempt to address the unnecessary hate part of that relationship. My comments were not directed toward some mean-spirited stranger in need of a self-righteous superiority fix, but feel free to trounce me to your heart's content. I did not put in all those years of hard work to be run out of the profession by theiving subcontractors or the likes of you. I had a story to tell and a message to deliver to the penny pinching TTD scavenger, no more, no less.

Your judgmental, snide and trite observations are too petty to merit further comment, except to say that you need to reserve the pity party for yourself. You are the one who has made a sad and meaningless commentary here, not me.

But what about the ER report being disjointed and not complete - sm
Is that the way to run a medical record? Is that the way to report a human experience? I think something needs to be done about this sloppy and I do mean sloppy reporting of a patient medical case.
The info given by Happy MT is very complete,
but do remember the amount of income you do your calculations on is the amount AFTER your deductions.  Refer to IRS website for deductible office space, equipment, and expenses, etc. for home office.
I am sure she was legally bound not to say anything about the sale until it was complete. That is s
business by the person who owns the business and the person who is purchasing it. She built her business, paid people for the work they did (does not owe anyone more than that), sold it and moved on. Why is it so hard for anyone to understand and why make it personal?
Thanks! How long does the test typically take to complete? nm
nm
I was also told I had to complete 8 hours even if I got my lines before that. nm

uh, judging by this complete thread, sounds like a lot

Craigslist is full of complete idiots.

The funny thing is, I've seen dealers post with grammar/spelling like that.

I make it a point to not buy things from people like that.  I mean, a typo here and there is one thing, but some of them type like 5 year olds and I don't want to give money to idiots!

Are there any companies that allow you a 12-24 hour window to complete work?
x
Total, utter and complete waste of time, effort,
The *CMT* so-called credential is nothing but a scam. THEY get rich, and you DON'T.
I think it's Texas. I'm glad I didnt complete the testing. The sound quality was bad.
I want to think that this Rose was defending one of her newer MTs that had been burned by a former employer for nonpayment so I find this interesting that they would turn out the be the same way.. Wow...
Are you required to work major holdays at KS. I know nature of biz to work them. Thanks for info. nm

What was the update?

Update

It was a very short update all was said was it was now done to one other company and this part of the process would take 30 to 60 days. It also said that the other company was not Spheris, MedQuist, or HCA. I plan on staying right where I am and see it through the end.

UPDATE
I am not the original poster, but I am the one who had been told that I should be patient because they get 150 emails a day, that I did pass the test, that I should not return the call because they are always on the phone. Well, too late Keystrokes. I took a test on Saturday for another company and was offered the job on Monday and I accepted.

Update
I would like to thank everyone that emailed me. I finally got set up today, and am working away.
D&L UPDATE
Word is they are going to crop up as another name - beware when applying - take all information you have on this company and beware if new company pops up with same people. They are still doing business as D&L, and have some accounts and actually some MTs who have not left - but they will be another name as soon as the paperwork goes through - be careful - try to call them - chronically busy - web page under construction - snakes in the grass very very sneaky.

They are still dealing with the mess and it will just roll over to the new name when it comes.

If you ask me, what they are doing is dodging taxes again and scamming others, eventually it all comes out in the open.

Their everyone telling lies on us attitude won't work for long.
Update
Webmedx does charge a deposit and if this is Transtech they don't supply computer.
D&L any update?
I was wondering also if the MTs were compensated yet?  Let's keep this D&L situation active until we hear they have been paid.  It's such a terrible situation for so many.
D&L Update

No, they have NOT paid the majority of their ICs in part/in full.  How do I know?  Because I am a former D&L IC caught in the middle of this fiasco.  I haven't been paid since the end of June.  They still owe me for 3 weeks' earnings.

As to your other question, are they still in business.  That would be a yes.  They are currently HIRING too.  I feel sorry for anyone who accepts a position with them.

As far as what is being done against them, I'm not at liberty to say.   I really don't care much for the Marino's at this point in time, and do not want to give them any clue as to what the next step/possible step will be against them.  It would be unfair to discuss any actions publicly on a message board when there are 30+/- of us involved still suffering financially because of those 2 SELFISH and DISGUSTING people, John and Donna Marino.  They truly are in business for themselves.

Thank you for this update! nm

Update?

with all the recent new employees of TransTech, can any of them give us an update of how it it going, I know they had a real hiring frenzy and a lot of information was shared on this board, just wondering if any new hires care to share their experiences so far.

Yes it does. Here is an update.
It took longer than expected to receive my foot pedal due to the fact that it didn't get sent out until several days after I thought it was going to be sent.  Anyway, I finally received it, let them know I had it and the next day they had me up and running with training.  I've only been working for the past three days and so far everything seems to be going just fine (although it seems like I'm getting the most difficult dictator on this account to start off with).  I've had very positive feedback and much encouragement.
update
Well, I got an email stating that the check was indeed mailed on Saturday and that she thought that it would be there by now. I got the mail today, and sure enough a check was in the mail (personal check postmarked 11/12/08, meaning it was not sent out on Saturday as stated, but at this point who cares) for less than half the amount owed. She said that she would pay the remainder on her next billing cycle.

Well, I hope that the check really clears. My bank is holding it until 11/24/08 and I hope that she really does send me the remaining balance and that it is correct when she sends it. Truthfully, the entire amount should have been sent, but I am glad she at least sent a portion of it.

I will wait for a while to see if she really will pay the remaining balance.

Thanks for the update.
Thanks for letting us know. This will give you some more time to hone your article.

Good luck with this and if you need any more help, just let us know and we'll get you what you need.

Thanks again, Travelin, for doing this story.

I know it isn't specifically about offshoring, it is really about how the economy has affected you, but this will give an opportunity for the ugly O word to present itself to the general population.
WMX Update
And with all the great features of the new update, GOOD NEWS for all you cherrypickers. They have removed the history feature completely, so we are not able to see who is dumping the miserable jobs.
UPDATE
After thorough research and investigation, it seems to me the most expedient and efficient way to sort things out is to find a lawyer proficient in worker's rights and the like.

I am in Colorado. Does anyone know of a good lawyer who handles this kind of stuff? I'm going to keep researching, but I have the feeling that once I tell him/her of the situation, there will be ensuing heavy, heavy issues for my EMPLOYER.

After reading and reading and reading more, I am ABSOLUTELY 10000000% sure that almost every single Transcriptionist who works as an IC is actually an employee.

Here are the main reasons why:
1. If your employer dictates a schedule or asks that you set one and stick to it, you are an employee.
2. If the nature of your business (medical transcription) is similar/identical to the nature of your employer's business (MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION), you are an employee.
3. If your employer has hired other EMPLOYEES who do the same thing or very similar to what you do (i.e., a QA who also does some transcription), you are an employee.
4. If your employer mandates the way you will do your project (i.e. you HAVE to use these account specifics and you have to follow this protocol in OUR software), you are an employee.
5. If your employer provides you with TOOLS to get the job done (i.e. computer software, foot pedal, or even a computer), you are an employee.

I'll update more as I go along. I hope to keep my mojo up and actually do this. I just got a job offer from a local hospital out of the blue yesterday, and am tempted to take it. If I do ... I don't know.

In any case, thanks for all of your help!

Update
It is nearly the end of my workday (I start early as I have family duties in the evening) and my primary still has had no work and my secondary has had a grand total of six small jobs today. Is anyone else this short on work?
update
I didn't have the interview. It was up to me, but I have a lot of work where I'm at and MDI does not have benefits, neither does the job I have now so it was a mute point to change.
