From multiple previous posts there is no
set line rate, several variables involved, but most say it is very hard to get lines and pay is low.

no complaints here, but some people have had problems, work is there, pay is on time, they pay downtime if work does run out, insurance is good BCBS
If you check my previous posts...
I did explain my experience with them.
Previous posts were deleted (sm)
They were NOT talking about the resumes being fake. Some earlier posts had said they would post some names of applicants for you to ask them what the name of their company was because they weren't revealing their identity. They did list a few names but the post containing the names was soon deleted. So, they were weren't meaning the resumes were fake, they meant that they had listed fake names.
Your previous posts with yelling(& in mind's eye

From previous posts and in my interviewing history,
I am not sure that is correct. Some companies actually do just pay a certain amount per report for QA and it is very low and others pay just for the blank filled in. Pathetic, ain't it.
Look at previous posts here. It's said to be a terrible place to work! nm

Horrible company, horrible dictators, ESL
at its absolute worst, sound quality horrible. The MTs I did QA for were horrendous. They made up words, obviously didn't use a spellchecker, couldn't get the hang of something as simple as copying and pasting Preop diagnoses to postop diagnoses and would type same again and again. QA manager would send out updates for new drugs, equipment and have things misspelled, frequently got e-mails that evidently were sent because someone wanted to feel important, absolutely no useful information, management problems, lots and lots of turnover, including management. The CEO has no clue about transcription and is in it for the money. After talking with him you feel like you need a shower.
Lots of posts recently in the archives. Horrible
company
Has anyone ever gone back to work for a previous company?
I was just wondering if any of you out there had ever gone back to work for a company that you had worke at before. What was your experience in doing so? Is it worth looking into?
Thanks for any help.
of coure a company asks about previous employment
there is a reason why they asked about your previous employment, and it has nothing do to with bait and switch.
My previous post was verbatim from the company when I inquired at employment. Maybe (sm)
they tell everyone something different, like what they THINK they want to hear.....Guess I should have put it in quotes.
I hope my company flies under the radar. This is horrible what happens to one company sm
after another on this board. The owners must have very thick skin. First TT, then Amphion, now Keystrokes. No one is safe. I hope everyone takes all they read with a grain of salt. I have met a few of the owners of the some of the bigger services, and they are all very nice, including those that own Webmedx, Keystrokes, Execuscribe, Medware, MDI and Transcend. I hate to think how they feel when they read things on here, even though they all say they don't read the posts here and advise against it. I don't know how they don't read them; I look just to make sure that no one mentions mine.
Rapid Transcript, Inc- Does anyone have any recent info on this company...current/previous employees
I am wondering about anyone who has recently or is currently working for this company...any input is appreciated. There is some Bad talk about non-payment in the search archives from 2003-2004, but no recent talk. Just curious. :)
Horrible, horrible, horrible place. Unlike the other poster
I actually worked there. Sound quality is horrendous. The account I had was the worst ESL I've ever had and I do 85% ESL so I have no problems doing ESL. Frequent management turnover. When I was doing QA the work was so bad that I pretty much had to redo every report. I hear about how well they pay, but they don't pay that well and certainly not enough to compensate for all the other stuff.
This company is horrible and you'd be better
off not taking a position with them. There are issues with their line counts with MTs being cheated - this is in addition to horrible management, horrible dictators, horrible QA people ......
Horrible company!
Do not work for this company. They want their work 12 TAT or sooner. They will drive you crazy!!!
Horrible company!!
Do not work for this company. The pay is horrible!!! They pay $4.25 per 1,000 words. That's like 5 cents per line!!!
They are such a horrible company they can't keep
good, qualified people, so they have to give newbies a chance so they can get the work done.
Yup...horrible company
Someone else just asked about them a week or two ago. I worked there almost 2 years ago for about a month as an IC. They are an Indian company. They just have a store front location in Massachusetts, but they only do payroll and HR there. The account leads, QA, and trainers are all in India, and these are the people that you will always be dealing with. I also found that the pay was on the low side. The training was horrible because of the huge language barrier, and I didn't learn a thing. I was always running out of work and the QA, account leads, and technical support, in my experience, were pretty rude. I was even yelled at one time because I called for tech support and couldn't understand them! They also deduct pay for errors. I got out a few weeks after I started. I just couldn't take it anymore. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to work for them.
TTS is a horrible company.
xxx
SS is a horrible company, but as far as the
lack of work I've heard several people complain about it lately and are trying to pick up some part-time work.
They are a horrible company and they did you
a favor if you decided to look elsewhere.
WHAT?! What a horrible company.
x
Lots. Horrible company.
Sound quality horrible, dictators beyond horrible. Late paychecks, constantly changing ways to get lines, horrible management.
Had a horrible experience with this company and could not with a
clear conscious recommend them. Check archives or scroll back to November for details.
Sounds like a horrible company to me
They pay 5 cpl, charge you if you send reports to QA, and only pay once a month. Also, someone posted an article about the owner below that was in BusinessWeek. It states how much debt she is in cuz she's not aggressive about making sure her clients pay her. Also, she charges 12 cpl, but then only pays the MTs 5???!!! Why would anyone work for a company like that?
Horrible company. Bad dictators,
platform has got to be the worst thing out there. They are run by a bunch of people who don't know what they are doing. They all tell you to do something different when it comes to the account specs. Impossible to make any money there.
SoftScript is a horrible company, would not be on my
top 10 companies. I haven't worked for Transcend. I hated WMX too. I had heard lots of good things about them, but I sure didn't see it. There have been lots of bad posts about them lately.
Horrible company, they are legit though.
There is a reason they are always hiring. Lots in the archives.
Worked there 2 years ago..horrible, horrible, horrible.
Would totally avoid them at all costs.
Worst company out there. Horrible sound
quality, horrible ESLs, system not user friendly, loopy QA. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
Read through the archives, horrible company.
The dictators are some of the worst ESLs, sound quality is horrific, the reports are so bad I had to basically retype them, flaky QA, management problems, etc.
A horrible company who does not value truth or the employees.

Sounds like the company I work for now. Horrible
it. The company in general is also very, very strict on QA, so there's never a relaxed minute as the newbie on the block, and the cliques! Its cruel. I feel like I'm in school again, getting left out and laughed at and even set up for failure. There is always someone calling out sick, etc., as you describe, and I am told I always have to be the one to cover due to seniority, or my lack of it. Its so upsetting that I'm just about to throw in the towel myself. I'm sorry I can't recommend anyone other than MQ QA, but I heard they are no longer hiring QA staff. They used to pay really, really well and the conditions were fine. Best of luck to you.
Great platform, horrible company

I'm not judging...GEEZ
It just gets frustrating to read these down and out posts about MQ going under, we're all in trouble, its doom and gloom. There have been a lot of changes, I have had my bitter moments too, but I have nothing to fall back on. If you people do not have PROOF of what is GOING to happen, do not post false threats!! This is our livelihood, and its trickling away bit by bit. All I see is a bunch of people complaining nonstop, if you're that unhappy, why don't you do something about it? Either that or go along with the changes. This industry is going downhill, we are expendable, I feel that our days are numbered too, but i'm going to do whatever work is thrown at me until that day. I'm a remote worker, just a number who has no voice. My supervisors are secretive and down-talk me as well, but it does no good to come on here and threaten us and scare us all into believing we are this close to ending up flat broke and on the streets. You people posting such things, copy and paste evidence that the changes are going to be for the worse in regards to MQ pay plan, accounts switching, MQ being bought out, getting rid of seasoned MTs. PROVE IT!!! Or else you're causing a stir for no definitive reason for all of us who are under a lot of stress and uncertainty as it is!
Well, judging by your terminology,
I'd say you were with MQ currently. As a fellow MQer (just gave notice yesterday), I picked up on the c-pool term ASAP. At any rate, I also have 10 years experience and do about the same work types you do. I've interviewed with 3 different companies in the last few months and the offers ranged from 8.5 to 9.5. Benefits on the lower offer and IC status on the higher offer. I did notice that the companies were more interested in my cardiology procedures more than anything, so if you have that experience, you might want to bring it to their attention. I didn't push much with the lower offer since it required a schedule and 30+ hours per week, etc, which I really don't want. I did push on the higher offer to see if I could get an increase if I maintained a higher line count than the minimum required and got it.
Hope this info helps your search. Gotta get outta that place!!!
Judging just by this post, sm
I can see why you had such a hard time. If this post is representative of the quality of your work, then perhaps you should seek another field in which grammar and punctuation are not such an issue.
I am NOT judging anyone skills sm
by the number of years on the job. You have taken this way out of context and I am not even going to address the diatribe. Well, except for one thing.....your comment about folks making the same wage no matter how many years they have been in the business.
If you were in another profession and you were there 20, 25, 30 years and someone came in to the office making the same as you or maybe even more, wouldn't you be just a tad irritated? My goodness why have pay scales?
I am so glad you have never had to ask for help or ask a question on the word board etc, arent' you just special? I don't know an MT alive that hasn't had to ask a question now and then no matter how many years they have been doing this. Sometimes you just can't find what you are looking for. Granted, probably 99% of the time folks can find things on their own but no one is 100% perfect that they never have to ask a question.
What you don't realize is the opinions you have really DO come from being a newbie. When you have been in this for years and years you will know that not all things are so perfect. You really do have the know it all attitude of a newbie. You may be an exceptional newbie and one who is a very quick learner, reserches to find what you want, but you still have the attitude!
Actually with that attitude, you really do need to ALWAYS be working at home alone because you would never last in an office full of MTs. There are folks who do need mentoring, know they need mentoring and are not afraid to ask for help. So glad you never make a mistake, can ALWAYS find what you are looking for and never need to ask questions. You are just to perfect for words!
All the old reviews say they're horrible. Listen to those MTs and choose another company. nm

Judging by what's written in those paragraphs,
and my observations when my company merged with another, chances are very good that many of the people on those 'lists' are MDI management.
Find out what they pay the majority of their MTs. Chances are, if you make more than that now, eventually you won't.
uh, judging by this complete thread, sounds like a lot

Stop ASSUMING and judging and blaming
Who are YOU to say why people may need the services of a payday loan place?
YOU really need to apologize: Before you accuse, ridicule and abuse, TAKE A WALK IN THEIR SHOES.
SoftScript is the worst - horrible accounts, horrible management, don't go there! nm
nm
horrible, horrible contact person! Worst experience ever. SM
Turned it down because of the arrogance and attitude.
That was not long ago. Ads run every 2 - 3 months.
Horrible accounts, horrible sound quality, etc
The only time SoftScript would not be wonderful is if you aren't doing your job. They are an extremely professional company. Sounds like someone may not have lived up to their standards.
Horrible, horrible place. Lots in the archives.
Horrible platform. Horrible communication.
Horrible people who say one thing and then when you do what they say, they get mad and act ugly.
Enough of a bone?
There are bad posts about every company...
And for most companies, there are also good posts.
There are a couple bad things to really listen to--late/no pay is one of them. However, most have an opinion based on personal preferences. Some people don't like OSi (or Spheris, or Medquist, or fill-in-the-blank), and some people do. It's all based on a personal preference, and that's why many people say again and again that every company is good for some, bad for some. No one company is going to be perfect for everyone. The most balanced views acknowledge the good and bad of a company.
I currently work for OSi and have for almost 2 years. I loved working for them as an MT and hated working as QA. I am back to part-time MT, and while I'm generally happy and still would and do recommend them to MTs, there are some things I don't like. Just as I assume there will be some things I will not like about the company I go to next. But as far as OSi goes, they ALWAYS pay on time, the account coordinators are great, and most of the management are nice and try their best to be accommodating.
The honest truth is that I would not recommend arguing with the QA department, or at least to pick your battles carefully. However, mostly the QA dept leaves you alone unless you fail a review. Just don't ever work for QA there... lol The QA dept is seriously the only bad thing I would say about OSi. And they're mostly good people, just very inept at QA sometimes.
So all in all, I say OSi is a good place to work. Despite my personal distaste for the QA dept, they are not terrible and do not really affect your day-to-day work. I recommend them with all honesty and I think that MOST MTs would find them a good place to work.
They have great accounts, some very good line-makers. I seldom run out of work, but cannot say that I never run out. But when I do, I have the choice of going to a secondary account. I really do like all of the accounts and the sound quality is never a problem (at least for me--and obviously there are times that docs dictate on cell phones that sound as though they are on a motorcycle, going 100 mph). But the overall sound quality is great, and ExText is my favorite platform thus far. Again, the account coordinators are very good, very friendly, and very easy to talk with.
