If anyone is applying or is thinking of applying with Focus Infomatics, beware. They are posting ads that say 'all shifts' when in actuality, it's only 3rd shift or 16 hours on the weekends that they have available. At least that is what was told to the QCs that they had to put on other accounts due to losing an account. Be careful with these people as when they hire you, they tell you one thing, but eventually, it all changes and you go to making maybe a third of what you started out with.

 Okay, it's like this....not only is Focus Infomatics a dishonest company trying to hide behind the Nuance name, they are down right dirty. Both my aunt and I left there at the same time recently. Today, we received our paychecks. Now, she had 50 hours for the last pay period. She only got paid for 24. Now, tell me where that seems right? No where. Not many people want to get paid for only half of the hours they actually worked. As for me, I got my 40 hours for the week that I was still getting paid by the hour, but for the couple of nights that I stayed up all night getting paid by the LINE, they did not pay me and I plan on pitching a fit. I have copies of my timesheet (Screenshots work wonders:D) and so does she and we plan on going to the labor board not only in the state we live in, but in whatever state they claim to be in (even though I think we all know it's safe to say that most of their higher ups are overseas and not actually in the U.S.) if they do not rectify this problem soon.
Just thought I'd put this out there because people need to know especially if you are currently with Focus Infomatics and plan to leave any time soon....be aware that you might not get paid for everything you did in your last pay period.

Job postings
The companies that are constantly posting jobs post them not necessarily because of growth, it's because they can't keep employees for whatever reason.
Spheris, OSI, Transtech, TTS, Softscript, Transcend, Medware, etc. offer ridiculous bonuses and other niceties to attempt to get new employees.
The best companies are word of mouth ONLY.
It is common knowledge that some companies have NO WORK and other crappy working conditions, i.e. low pay, no pay or late pay, poor management, but they still post jobs.
Educate yourselves and realize the real reason behind these job postings day in and day out.
Where have all the job postings gone?
Still wondering... looked on here, and pretty dismal. Not much on other sites. Is it spring break everywhere, or MQ people flooding companies with resumes so that the companies are not putting ads? Anybody got any insight? This MT is curious, because I like to keep track of what is out there (grass/greener etc.). Thanks.
And by the postings I see, some here
should go back and learn how to spell and use verbs correctly. Frankly, I think there are some Wal-Mart employees on here protraying themselves to be MTs.

people supposedly working for Keystrokes who were posting...in a nut shell, the KS people were not putting themselves in a good light and the posts were pulled but you would need to ask KS about it for their version.

Every ad I've ever seen from MD-IT claims that compensation is based on testing and experience, and yet it seems that no matter what, the starting pay is the same insulting rate for everyone.
That's another one to add to my list of Places to Avoid - if they can't even be honest in their ads, I can't imagine what it would be like to actually work for them.
Job postings have dropped because
we are in a depression. Yes, I said a depression. No one on television will say the D word for fear of scaring people, but do your homework. Our country's economy is tanking rapidly.
Anon postings
I was threatened a few years ago for posting on the site by a company that wasn't paying its people. The owner threatened to sue me for deformation of character and slander. First of all, I told her as the owner of a transcription company, she needed to learn how to spell. It's defamation of character. Next, since the board is in print, it would be libel instead of slander.
For any MTs who are afraid of being sued over posts, the most important thing to remember is that they can only sue you if what you say is not true. If you stick to the facts, whether it's not getting paid, bounced checks, etc., you don't have anything to worry about.
I have posted deragotory comments about 2 companies, and both have threatened to sue me. I have a little file in which I keep all the evidence of late pays and bounced checks, so I'm not concerned.
Reading down through your postings
You said you learned acute care but then said you had trouble with other specialities? I hate to tell you but acute care about covers it all. I do acute and have worked over the years from everything from a neurologist to oncologist, every type I do in acute care. I really am not picking up much in reading that shows you have much experience in transcription work. You are not straight forward in saying what background you have. You also said you would not work for poorly run companies- yet you said you were paid cash or off the books. Pray tell, what kind of company does that? Sounds like the poorest of the poor run companies to me. You said you worked in market research. That sounds like nothing relating to transcription work which means basically no experience there. Someone here asked you to post experience. I think they want you to post TRANSCRIPTION experience because from reading your posts I really find nothing. That might be why you are failing the tests. So, really, put down in black and white here..... what type of training did you have at Career Step and what type of medical transcription have you done? Your story has a lot of holes in it.
I'm sure many postings are shaded by negativity but
If I see something that goes into great detail describing a negative experience, not getting paid, bad management with a pretty good explanation why, etc. I steer clear of that company. No one could be making some of this stuff up.

Because of postings on a bitter board? Why would you
quit a job or question your judgement based on postings on an anonymous board? If you like the job, stay. If you don't, look elsewhere.
you need to really look back to prior postings
This company has been flying all over this board even back in March. I think it goes further than disgruntled employees. Take a look at how their lead people handle these comments. They have badmouthed these employees horribly. Yes, companies will have unhappy employees and there will be some grumbling, but it clearly looks like a much bigger problem with Shapin. A lot of drama for low pay. I would have nothing to do with them and NOT for the grumbling of past employees, but for the obnoxious and crude way Shapin's management individuals conducted themselves!

Some companies/entities do know what IC means, but others do not.
The job postings state IC status, but want a schedule like an employee, and pay peanuts at that.
It's sad how badly new job postings have dropped
And those that are getting posted are mostly for places with really bad reputations and/or companies that don't respond to emails.

What company is Aspen? Is this a company or a name of someone? Can you please tell employers to list the company they are with. Thanks!
Perhaps you didn't read all the postings.
Maybe that's what the OP was talking about; we don't know as it could be interpreted either way. However, a subsequent poster did state that she indeed had a company charge her $5 a paycheck for the privilege of having it direct deposited. So maybe you better check your alarm clock.

Why don't you use the time and energy that you use posting lies about one of the few REPUTABLE companies left and fix what's wrong with the company you're working for. I smell jealous management.

find out from the company, no matter which company, rather than asking a board full of cheerleaders and naysayers? I took the information about the companies I was applying for, did a comparison chart, talked to each one and made a decision that way, based on the facts not speculation. One of the companies that had favorable posts on here actually offered me 0.065 per line. Not for me. I have 22 years experience. Another offered 0.11 per line but no spaces. You have to go to the companies themselves, ask a lot of questions and make a decision based on what fits you best. If they are a good company, they will have no problem answering questions. Most that I spoke to were more than happy to answer any that I asked. Their time is valuable too and I am sure they would rather tell someone the whole picture than have everyone quit once hired.
These boards are great for general information, but you have to take the bad and the good posts with a grain of salt. I have seen people praise a company to the nth degree one month and then bash them the next. It goes the opposite way too.
Best scenario is to make a list of your needs, talk to the companies and weigh your options.
Keystrokes is a good company for me, but that does not mean it will be a good company for everyone. But you will find them to be fair, give a good wage, have plenty of work available and pay on time. Those were important to me. I would rather be busy at 0.09 per line than slow at 0.12 per line.
I never see any postings about Accuscribe of SC. They evidently don't advertise (sm)
for help much, that could be a good thing.

I'm curious- what makes you think any of those "rude" postings
are from a recruiter? It seems to me that wouldn't be the best way to recruit people, would it? What makes you so sure that poster is even an employee of SS and not a disgruntled ex-employee? You are all anonoymous, typing back and forth to each other in your own liitle unimportant world. You have no idea who types on here, where they are from, what they do, or where they live. Don't you get it? Anyone can come on and say anything about anybody since there is very little monitoring of the post- oh, an occasional deletion here and there, but overall nothing. Here, let me give you an example: I've heard that company Q overcharges their medical benefits and pcokets the difference. They do this sometimes just to make payroll! they've also terminated a couple of their sales people in order not to pay the comissions on their sales. See how easy that was? You all really need to get a life outside of the internet, smell some fresh air, take a walk around your neighborhood.

The person who always answers Med-Scribe postings...
has a complete inability to punctuate correctly. I have always wondered about this person's qualifications as an MT, and I am really surprised you have not had a heyday with those posts. Why the extensive grammar lesson on this particular post?

They caused me nothing but grief because I pointed out a spelling/typo error in their ad. But a a friend, subcontractor of mine, did call them and they pay about 5-6 cents a line. She said that she could not pay more because she did not charge her clients that much as attorneys won't pay but I would not believe her. Anyway they caused havoc to my life on this board for a long time until Admin stepped in. Look at their ad and unless they have changed it there are typo's. Would you want to work for a company with that type of quality?

Don't go to work for Spheris. I just left there after 3 years of employment because they continuously had low work. I asked repeatedly (very nicely) to be placed on other accounts that were not VR (they only have one). Well, they have not paid me for my last 24 hours (3 work days) worked because they must approve of your hours/lines worked on a certain account. What a jerk company. I clocked in and clocked out just like everyone else does for these large national companies. I hope no one comes on and attacks my post and thinks I'm being malicious or hateful, because I worked on rather difficult acute care accounts for this company throughout my employment with them, was a loyal employee, and always worked my schedule. I also altered my schedule several different times to work later hours (past 1:00 a.m.) and weekend hours (all weekend). If the moderator finds fault with this post or thinks it's slanderous, well then SOMEONE needs to take a deeper look into these larger companies treating their much needed, hard-working MTs like CRAP, all in the name of us working from home. They are nothing but a bunch of bullies there and are not a nice company. No wonder so many people have left them and gone to smaller companies. The smart MTs left and saved their own skins.
TC beware
TC used to be a good company, but they have hit a rocky road, a lot of management turn over lately. They seem to run out of work often to. I would just go in to it being aware.!

Typingforpennies, please be aware of spi. They sound great and offer great perks but if you don't have work you have nothing.
Beware of D&L
If you are looking to get paid for the work you do, beware of D&L Typing. They promise the world, especially that they will pay on time, then when payday comes they have the lamest and most commonly used reasons for not be able to pay you. Or, on the off chance that you do get paid, the check will bounce. I wish all of you good luck and, please, beware of D&L.

Beware of SPi
For any MTs/QAs out there that may be looking at different companies to work for, beware of SPi-BPO. They are not worth it. They constantly mistreat many of their employees and their Open Door Policy is nonexistent even though they will tell you Our door is always open. Yeah, right. And with their new line count status, line counts are going down and you are expected to meet a quota within your 8 hours that some people were not even meeting before the line status changed. Upper management is often unaccessible/does not care. There are a few nice people there, but emphasis is on 'few.' Yes, I know I sound disgruntled, and after watching the way some of my ex-coworkers have been treated, I probably am. Thankfully, I found a great company to work for and their platform is nearly perfect! Goodbye SPi and hello to actually having a life again and not believing I'm going to get laid off any day now.

They do not honor contract; tried to force hours/schedule on IC status by having submit a schedule and then there was no work and was told still had to be available during those hours even if I did the work later in the day if it came in after scheduled hours. They do not understands the IC flexibility as long as it was done in 24 hours. New manager tried to tell me to start at early a.m. on schedule when there was no work. When I asked what days the doctor would be dictating or working so I could fix a schedule to submit for them I was told they could not ask their doctors that question. I just wanted to know what days they would be expecting work so I could fix a schedule. There was supposed to be a 14 day termination time but they terminated me that day for asking for help on getting a schedule down that would work. Owner would not communicate. Switched accounts to new account and only got it for 3 days and could not make a schedule based on that as it was sporadic. They did not follow contract but not worth pursuing. The office manager is not a MT and she was doing QA on work. Unable to talk to the owner. Asked to resolve problem with schedule but IC status is not how they interpret it. I got behind just a bit for 24 hour TAT but we had no clue how much she would download finally and they were long reports. Once had 100 minutes and as soon as I finished she wanted me to start another 85. I needed a break. One day she called me and said Are you typing not 30 minutes after the work was loaded to transcibe after I waited all day. Not professional at all.
This is the one that comes up beware!
