Calling other people's gifts "cheesy", are ya? Not nice
nm
It would be really nice if they would send you...sm
some kind of response. I accepted a job from my second choice employer and then got a call from my first choice employer. Of course having committed to another company, I declined the offer and regretted it later.
Even an automated response that a) we got your resume or b) we're not interested would help a lot. As it is, you just sit in limbo and figure you better take the offer you are getting versus the one you would like to have.
As you said, all you can do is keep a positive attitude and hope the good things you hear are true.
I thought it was a no-no to send/open attachments with emails.
:+
Yes I did. I thought it was an oversight on their part to not send cards, guess not.
nm
I thought "nn" meant NOT NICE. nm
:)
I thought a card was nice...I didn't need anything more

Nice thought, I am sure they has considered this & not concerned much sm
with a merger, they always say no changes (for now) they just need to line things up, placate the currrent MTs into thinking, HEY HEY. I don't believe this is so. Need to make plans NOW- always have PLAN B and PLAN C in all future, all the time. In the end, all this talk will get you no where, not really. Know what MQ did in the Monrovia office after they took over My Office Genie, came and reconfigured the PC system to take off 2 lines per page, yep. Only way we found out was the tech support people The suits will do anything, tell any placating fib. Sorry to be so negative but it is true, human nature, read the newspapers, red magazine, see TV, globally how humans are, more are, than are NOT.
Yes I thought it sounded nice. Just hard to change but it is time. Always a little bit of anxiety
about another company and leaving what you know and sort of starting over but sometimes it is time. You know, the fat lady sang.
Happy birthday
Hi Eileen, many many happy returns of the day. It is November 30 already. Still in Calcutta or moved on?
Happy Birthday
.
Any companies out there give birthday bonuses or anything? sm
My birthday is right around the corner and I would love to know how many companies out there take the time out to remember our birthdays. I understand that these companies might have many, many employess or ICs, but we are not just a number...or are we? Just curious to find out the good companies out there...
I got a 65 Mustang Pony for my birthday 2 years ago sm
by my husband, all original down to the tires with 30,000 original miles. He bought it for 1200.00 and put a fresh coat of paint on it. I drive it about 3 times a summer and only on a sunny day-hubby's orders!
Very nice owner, nice work, nice place - sm
the leave you alone. I left because they do not budge from their pay which was kind of mediocre. I would go back if I had to because they were extremely nice.
Ditto! Also add that they ignore e-mails you send and send endless IMs!

Regarding Gifts..
I have always received business gifts and cards, not huge gifts, small seasonal gifts, cards of goodwill, etc. Even a sincere Happy Holidays is nice. I don't know if you meant to address this to me or not. I wasn't complaining about a gift..
gifts
I received a throw blanket with the company logo...kinda nice, but I would have preferred a paycheck that did not bounce. I have had three checks bounce and only one has been rectified. Happy Holidays!
It's not how old we are and it's not about gifts...DER!
why assume that acknowledgement translates into a gift? That word was never used except by you. We did get a very nice Happy MT Week email, so case closed.
I wonder if they still give little gifts to the MTs. nm
nm
HOW DARE YOU ?!?!?!? We have gotten gifts every sm
MT week, cards for every birthday, Christmas gifts.
Obviously you are NOT one of the managers or you would know that THEY not SHE give a lot to everyone.
What is your problem ??????
Thanks OSi for the MT week gifts
Received today a nice OSi t-shirt and also notification of a donation made in my name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, along with a pen and pad from the foundation. Very nice.
Any Christmas gifts/bonuses from...
Any Christmas bonuses or gifts from Futurenet Technology?
Received my gifts today!
They really are nice. Thanks so much MDI/Transcend. Nice to be recognized.
CHRISTMAS GIFTS FROM COMPANIES
Well, last year I received an email from the owner of the company that indicated that a nice surprise would be arriving in the mail. Initially, I was impressed; thought that was very nice; I thought that maybe they were sending a gift card or something. However, It turned out to be the company calendar. All during the holidays, there were absolutely no personal greetings from any of the supervisors, managers or company owner with HAPPY HOLIDAYS, MERRY CHRISTMAS or HAPPY NEW YEAR, etc. The only mention of the holidays was an email from my supervisor with a request to give my preference for which holiday I would be working, and then to receive an assignment back from her, indicating whether my preference was approved or not. My first choice was denied.
This year, I'm with a different company. I have received no calendars or cards or anything solid. A few of the managers and QA had holiday greetings written in their status sections on the chat board. Despite the fact that I am an employee, nobody forced me to work on any holiday, just asked me whether I would be working or not. Despite there being no SPECIAL TREAT arriving in the mail, I think I prefer my current company's approach.
Last year's company could have kept the calendar, as far as I'm concerned. The company owner could have sent everyone a freebie ecard and I would have been more impressed, had more warm, fuzzy feelings, etc., etc. She could have done this without spending a single cent.
Bottom line is that I would much rather receive a kindly greeting from the major players than to receive a calendar or a mug or pen with their advertisements displayed on it.
Just my opinion, of course.
well i have received gifts from employers
and i too have been in the business for over 30 years, in various capacities, various states and on-line. I have received everything from nice cash bonuses, to fruit baskets and smoked turkeys. But i never 'expect' a gift and rarely see one anymore from employers. Nowadays with all the so-called political correctness, they'd probably be in trouble if they didn't offer similar gifts for every various religion's major holiday....
I forgot a couple gifts
A couple years they gave us calendars, which of course had things in the date boxes related to Spheris, but on the top pages they had dictation blopers from the doctors, some of those were pretty funny.
Don't stress over gifts at Christmas -
that is NOT what the holiday is about - haven't been able to afford gifts for MANY years now - and when I can again I will be VERY conservative about it.
We have been brainwashed to think we HAVE to exchange gifts.
The best year was when I cooked a really good meal for all and placed one small gift at each place setting.
Anyone get any Christmas gifts from your MTSO this year? If so, what?
:)
Aren't gifts a "voluntary" thing...
This is one of my pet peeves. Let the company decide on a yearly basis if they want to give a gift. A gift is no longer a gift if it is expected and kept track of. But, all in all, Merry Christmas to all.
What world do you guys live in where you EXPECT GIFTS? SM
people are unemployed all over this country. Count your blessings.
Wow, expecting a gift. CHILDREN expect gifts. Maybe..
your gift is the fact that you have a job during this current economic crisis. If you get something, fine; if not, are you going to quit? You still have 4 days to wait by your mailbox for your gift, if you should get one.
Good and Bad - some gifts bought/missed WMX benefits call (sm)
Of course I procrastinated to attend the call on my day off, then off I went with my daughter shopping.
Did I miss anything much other than explanation of health plans? Is there a web site they referred to you? Should I call HR and admit I am a moron?
TIA
What's greedy about it? Have always received xmas gifts/bonus as employee
x
Nada...... Can't complain though, great line rate is worth no extra gifts at X-mas. nm

Very nice people, nice place to work. nm
nm
Yes, nice QA (and nice people in general), but very little work right now. nm
nm
Yes! Nice lady, nice company. nm
xx
I second that. Amphion is nice, nice, nice
I actually thought of that. I even thought of trying to go back to MQ part-time!! (sm)
I just wonder about hours at a second company. I work days (and some nights) with this company. I have a set schedule but with the no work situtation I've been on the computer at all hours of the day and night. Right now I have no work, so I would love to jump on at a company #2 and start working. Do you have to have set hours at your company #2? Thanks for the suggestion.
Also, it is not only about a birthday bonus, any bonus...sm
I am curious to see the average amount of different bonuses out there. Like anniversary, birthday, holiday, etc. bonuses. Remember back when you were an employee and had to go out to work for a company, during your birthday, anniversaries, certain special times of the year everyone would send around a card, sign it, cook a meal or something nice for you...I am just wondering if any company does that for you even though you don't actually have to dress and go to work physically. A simple poll...NOT something I will base on becoming an employee with...A SIMPLE POLL! Thanks for everyone who gave some input about their actual company and not a criticism...Just a simple question ....
that's nice. have a nice weekend.

Nice post, thank you and have a nice day. nm
.
Well if you don't want it, send it to me! Better than nothing. nm
I would send a
certified letter, the kind that they have to sign for from the post office. Just to cyb ;-)
I can't say how much they send
to India, but they did state they are sending some there, they never said how much and that it was a pilot program. They do use a lot of VR now. I did not like their program and left recently.
Can you send me one too? I am considering going with them. nm
thank you
When did you send it? nm
nm
If you don't want it, send it to me.

Why don't they send us some of
the scores of gifts that they receive in the office? We are the ones that make their money for them. I don't think it is greedy at all. It is common courtesy, something that today's MTSO's trample on. I get Xmas cards. My kids open it for me, and then they make a joke of standing there with the card shaking it to try to get money or a gift card to fall out. LOLOL
need you to send to another ID sm
hey Nola, I figured out why I did not get it. Send to ccba81499@yahoo.com thanks!!!
I am sure they will send something
They always do, just not necessarily on the exact day it may be expected. But I do have to agree, enough work would be the best thing ever!!!
