I don't know the whole story behind it. I just submitted my resume because I saw they were an MT company and I was saturating the market with my resume. One of the supervisors got back with me and said that she didn't have room on her MT team at the moment but she needed some help because her group was being given 300 interviews - over 200 hours of audio - and she could use all the help she could get. It was kinda fun and she said she usually gives these things to MTs because they are usually doctors or pharmacists so a lot of drugs and medical jargon is thrown around. Because of my help (and I think there was another person just helping with this project) they didn't lose very much time in their regular transcribing work and still completed the job as required.
But, as I said, I don't know the whole story...and I won't pretend to know. I was hoping it would lead into full time but they are hiring radiologists with extensive experience and I only have about 3 days of radiology experience that I will own up to. But they are keeping my resume and they will be hiring again soon for acute care. Unfortunately at this point I can't wait any longer...I need something full time now. There is even a local company that will be hiring in July that a friend and a former employer have already put in letters of recommendation for me for...but I have to wait until July for that and my savings and unemployment will run out before then! :(
