OSI Line Counter - Must Vent!!
I know this is probably petty, but does anyone else notice the line counter at OSi goes down every single weekend?? Do they disable it to keep us from knowing how much we've typed, afraid we might not work as much?? This is so irritating. I like to keep track of how much I've done and this is very frustarting. I hate just sitting here typing in the dark.

when I worked for them. I thought it was quite odd. I like to know what I am typing as I finish each report, etc.

ExText questions...I am supposed to
Can you cut and paste from Word into ExText? I also do not understand what makes it hard to get your lines in. I just thought a line was a line no matter what. This whole conversation is making me nervous. Are there any pros to ExText? I am used to working in Word, which is pretty straight forward.
MTSO has not paid me, and dodging emails
I really need some help on how to go about collecting pay from a MTSO. She owes me over $850. When I asked about my pay she told me that she will pay when she gets paid, but that she pays twice a month. Well, I have gotten paid from her twice, each time being later than the time before. Each time having to write her numerous times in order to get paid. This time, she has said that the check will be in the mail this week, a week would go by, no check . Then again the next week, the check is in the mail, again, no check. When I emailed her I got this RUDE email that said I TOLD YOU I WILL PAY YOU WHEN I GET PAID. To that I responded, well, I had no idea WHEN you get paid or IF you got paid and sent the check. I am just checking the status of my check. To that she wrote, IF I HAD SENT THE CHECK THEN I WOULD HAVE RESPONDED I SENT THE CHECK. Well, that was a couple of weeks ago now that I got that response. Then I wrote her again and she told me that she was most likely sending the check on Monday (last week). Well, Monday was a holiday I know, but as of right now I still have no check, and now she does not respond to emails. She has removed my folder on her FTP site, and she does not respond to voice messages either.
Please help me. I really don't know what to do at this point.

You have also answered mine by getting so defensive. If you worked for TT in the past and were so unhappy there, as the previous post seems to indicate, then why would you be, and again I am QUOTING your original post, looking into TT.

I am leaving my current job as a secretary at the end of August. I have been in this field for 30+ years. I have pretty much decided that I would like to become a medical transcriptionist. My typing skills are excellent (approx. 100 wpm with 0 errors). I would like to work from home. Can anyone tell me which MT on-line schools are reputable? How long does the course take of you are diligent? I assume that after training it would be best to work for a transcription service before branching out on your own. Please, any advice, information on on-line schools, wages, etc. would be greatly appreciated! Working from home is a life-long dream for me!

How does Axolotl define a line? Do they pay for spaces, headers, footers, & expansions? Are you docked for blanks or sending things to QA? If so, how much.

I don't use my own counter
because the counts don't seem far off to me (that's why I asked how far off)... If you are talking a smallish amount you should foget about it IMHO because at least TT PAYS ON TIME and is very receptive to feedback.
Remember not all companies use the same counting formulas...
My line rate was better than any I've seen posted
before. I haven't been there long enough to get a raise, though I think someone asked this question last week and the answer was you do get raises.

so I wholeheartedly agree with you that, as an hourly MD, there's no justification for subquality work or passing the buck along to QA when not absolutely necessary. Maybe that particular MT wanted to show how much work she could produce in so much time. Neither is it justified by a production-paid MT. It would be inexcusable in a regular state of affairs where, at one time, an MT was able to make a fair living, whereas most find it difficult if not impossible to scratch out minimum wage and having to do 8 hour's work of work in 12 or more hours. But, as you did agree in your post, it is certainly understandable in the latter case. MTs are fed up, burnt out, etc, and realize they're for the most part getting a rotten deal, especially as paid-per-line, home-based ones, and the bottom line, whereas it used to be quality work and being able to take pride in it being replaced by rushing to get enough work out to keep the lights on and kids fed.
Possibly a penny a line? I've never had anyone ask if I had my CMT on an interview. nm

about 20-30% and so did ALL of my co-workers, yet no one can explain it. Did we all lose our typing speed with the transition? I think not.
I cannot, on my good conscience, recommend DQS to anyone. Look for better. Seriously. I'll save you the grief.

I agree with the OP that it is not great great pay. The accounts are not too great either. The better work is cherry-picked by the owner, and other good work given to the pets. They also pester you nonstop to work all 7 days of the week.
I've had checked line counts in Instant Text and sm
actually found Instant Text lines to be less than i-Chart and pretty much equal to Word.
I've been with places that disabled Ctrl/I as they said the line count given was "too high.

Actually I posted looking for answers to my questions above, not looking to answer questions, but
to here goes...firstly, I don't know about the platform, only that it is Word based. Secondly, I have many years cardio, and thirdly, no the test was not hard. Still looking for any answers to my questions above. Thanks in advance.
A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.
1600 is not a fair minimum requirement. Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

I'm in the same situation and just wondered why it shouldn't be done if this had been your primary source of work, thus your bread and butter for several years and was suddenly gone. In my case, it's neither the company's nor my fault, so I was seriously considering doing this, but if there's some legality involved here, I would really be interested in hearing about it. Thanks.

to be on full QA when you first start, just like all the other jobs I've had. The limit you can type every day is like 5 reports or something like that and you're supposed to stop and wait for the feedback. Were you just typing anyway and didn't care? It never occurred to me to keep typing. I did my reports, waited for my feedback (which came before the start of the next day's shift) and then did 5 more. I was taken off full QA in 2 days and then the amount I could type was not limited. Again, I just don't understand a post like this one. I understood from the policy I read when I was hired and then when I trained I was reminded of the limit.

In order to get any bonus money, which is paid according to Lines Per Hour (LPH), you NEED to clock in and out for everything. It makes for a very long day, turning 8 hours into sometimes 10 or even more. I don't clock out to look up words or to go to the bathroom but do clock out for anything longer than 15 minutes. I think PTO starts from day one.

be 1500 per day, but each person, as well as account vary! No one should mislead others into thinking they are going to get rich quick. Anyone making above 1500 lines a day, I am happy for you. That is very good.

Any MTSO who consistently relies on pay from clients to pay their MTs is in BIG trouble. That company will have a high turnover and/or get sued and reported to the BBB. Why is this commonsense business practice - having credit and/or backup funds to pay staff - so often ignored in this industry?? Because you all (MTs) stand for it and give the benefit of the doubt, i.e., MTSO will get new clients who are better paying.

I had already tested and was offered a position via email. They were supposed to call me on Friday to discuss the account, but then emailed me and said that they were unable to make the call and would have to call me on Monday. It's now Thursday and I still haven't heard from them.
So, I've already accepted a position with another company.
