It is what it is

I have been an MT more years than I care to admit.  Yes, I agree that it has come to cpl, spaces, line counts, production requirements, etc.  And yes, there was a time when there was no need for editors.  But now it is what it is.  Therefore, at some point an MT can not tolerate horrible dictators and ESLs who can not dictate a quality medical report to interfere with what they earn.  This business is now production and that is here to stay.  I love doing medical transcription but I am not volunteering.  It is a job just like any other- and most people will not do jobs that are not profitable to them.  I think I am glad I tested with that particular ESL because if that is the best they have to use for testing, that is a JOB I do not want.  Now if we were not talking pay by the line - that's a whole different story.  If I earned a decent wage to decipher that garbage I would be only to happy to do it.  Unfortunately such is not the case.  That changes old MTs like me.
