I'm not much help there. Your lead should be able to provide that information.

I think it may vary based on your account
but they have always been very flexible with me. I have another hospital I cover on the weekends, but I know a lot of the MTs do work weekends, and I believe you are allowed to request a second account if you want extra work.
I can only speak from the account I've been on, but the workload is almost always decent. Sometimes we can get a little slow, sometimes their is more work than we can seem to handle, but everyone works together and gets it done.
From what I have read concerning some other companies, I'm pretty pleased with where I'm at.
Good luck! Have you already applied or just thinking about it?
You can try requesting an internet-based account
If they have any openings on any internet-based accounts, they may be able to put you on one of those. My primary account is internet-based, and I requested that my secondary account be internet-based as well, which was no problem at all.
Its my understanding your pay is based on your primary account sm
I didn't ask that specific question but that is how I understood it when it was explained to me.
OT is based on account. One account may
run dry, but another is overflowing. OT is requested for that specific account probably for hte MTs covering that account as they are the ones familiar with it.
I look at it differently.
I figure if you don't hear about a company it's because they have work. The only ones who post here are the ones without a lot of work.
I work for a company that you never hear about because they have loads of work and they don't over hire. They very rarely advertise because they don't have a big turnover of MTs. I don't know anything about the company you're asking about. That could be a good thing!
Are they calculated differently or
is it just getting used to the system?
I would have handled this is little differently
at least to start. I would send an e-mail to the sup, cc the other QAers, and ask for clarification of the procedure to follow when things come up and an unscheduled break is needed, weather is bad, etc. The sup would likely respond to all. Then you would have her direction to quote if you get another IM like this. I doubt you would, though, surely they would realize you aren't going to play along with them anymore once they see your e-mail.
Would do it slightly differently
If you say NOTHING about rates it's off-putting for a potential client who just wants to know up front if they can afford you.
Instead offer some type of range - with the disclaimer that service is customized and rates are too...
You could say as low as for example - you can explain when they contact you what the parameters are for the lowest rate.
You do need a good accountant and if you will require contracts, you need an attorney as well.
others felt differently - NM
Your place was run differently than mine, then.
Right off the bat, it made perfect sense to use one's hospital position to obtain clinic accounts. We knew the work, we knew the dictators, we lived local. As to the medical director displaying favoritism, I guess it would depend on how it was done. Ours was always very above-board about how the word was put out. Ours wasn't really a small hospital, either. It was a regional trauma center. But I guess there are some places that want to find ethical lapses even when none exist.
Sten-Tel is a tranny franchise. Different owners, all run differently, different pay, but still
s
I guess I see things differently, as I do not know what all of the hoopla is about not paying OT. sm
And Keystrokes is not the only company that doesn't pay OT. Transtech doesn't pay for it either, although they encouraged it when I was there. I was actually chastised once for putting down my real hours on my time sheet, telling me that I know better. However, it didn't bother me then and doesn't bother me now as I am just grateful to be able to work as much as I want to get the line count that I want/need. It is not slave labor -- no one forces me to work the extra hours. I do so of my own free will.
I have had some health issues and other things, and my line count with Keystrokes has been awful, yet they have been patient and caring, and I am grateful to be working for them. I realize I will probably get flamed, but that's okay. My opinion is just as valid as anyone else's, and I decided to speak up in favor of a company that has been good to me.
That account in Texas was not a MQ account. They did not use DQS on that account until KS started.
They are moving 3 other accounts to DQS between now and January 1st. I asked. The MQ accounts they have gotten in the past did not go to DQS. I followed my old account, which is how I know, and it was Meditech. The account is still run by KS and is a big account too.
Repeatedly told another new account would come soon, but it never did. In fact, our slow account is.
everyone else's backup account. What a disorganized mess.
Then when we MT's are **thrown on** an account because of lack of work on our account
What is so hard to understand about that?
Then we have that account info filed away in a folder in our Outlook Express by name of account and can look at past emails sent out regarding that account. Not fun to be tossed on an account that you have never seen NOR ever received an email on. Sounds like business to me.
You are wrong about the account. KS dumped the account for several reasons. sm
It happened quickly and was unexpected but it was really for the best. Keystrokes does not string people along or lie to you. After being with MQ for too long, I am happy there, although it is not for everyone.
I really would give them a call as the other poster suggested. That whole situation was a nightmare for everyone including management but the account pulled a fast one on them.
I have the facts on this because I have a good friend at the hospital and what she told me matched what my manager did.
I know that they are trying to give more when so many companies are giving less and taking away more.
Are they USA based
do they have a lot of ESLs? Is the pay fair? TIA.
Based on -
When you work in a production environment, you are paid for production. You are expected to meet certain quality requirements. So why should you be paid more just because you have a certain number of years in? There are some very BAD MTs with many years experience, and some very good ones with just a few. If you are good, quick, and accurate, you will make more. What's so unfair about that?
Is that based on
gross $$ or net $$? That is an unusual way of determining FT/PT status.
My account has lots of work..ask for another account/nm
**
The account I am on only requires 1200 lpd. Maybe it is that particular account. Ask them if they
have a lower one. Doesn't hurt to ask. I do anywhere between 1200 and 1800 lpd. Sometimes it feels impossible to do 1200, sometimes the 1800 is quick. Depends on the doctors and the day for me. I do average 15,000 per pay period though, which is 1500 a day. Not impossible by any means, and I never go over 40 hours a week. Most weeks, I am closer to 35 hours with lunch breaks and life.
I think it depends on the account. I have one account that pays sm
$2.25 for specials and one that pays $3.50. I was on one previously that did not pay them different at all, but they were all short and mostly PICC line placements.
I worked for a hospital that went to KS and they were not charging extra for the specials. I know what they charged per report, and there was no way they were getting rich on the difference after taxes and all that. I was suprised. I was in on the bid review and the average to charge was between $1.75 and $2.75 per report or 0.13 and 0.15 per line. There were 15 companies that bid on the account, and all were within those ranges.
I went to KS about 6 months after the hospital outsourced to them. When we were displaced, I accepted a different job in the hospital and hated it.
That is not true. It varies from account to account. I have
several internet accounts and on some you do have to input the patient information.
I know the account. It is "hybrid" account that is a version of sm
Meditech that is a cross between Meditech Magic and Client, more like Client than Magic. I have been on it since October now do 1500 lines a day; it took me a week to get up to speed but they really helped me. I only know which one because my lead told me that they are adding 10 people to it because KS is getting the whole thing now, only doing 1/2 before this. I love working for Keystrokes :)
Account wen to speech from almost the beginning of the account --
Don't like ExSpeech at all. Very bulky and cumbersome. Much better editing programs. I prefer to straight transcribe on ExText. Pay drops horrendously. But wave of the future for MT's.
The account I am on is internet only. I think it depends on the account. nm

My main account must have been an overflow account. We would
go several many days of the month where we could not pull work, so we all had to go to secondary accounts and there are very few accounts that could absorb the extra people.
Our account is an acute care account
We are low on work too and have been for almost 2 months. We know what is happening to our work though as our supervisor admitted that the work is going overseas. Even though we have 24-hour TAT and we are transcribing reports as they are dictated, they still insist that the work dictated after 7 p.m. has to be sent to the offshore service. It makes no sense to me as we have coverage starting from 6 a.m. and throughout the day. I think it all comes down to bottom line and it doesn't matter if we have work or not because it's cheaper to send it overseas.
only want internet based too. nm

That's an answer that can only be based on
If you can produce a lot of lines per hour (300-350 or more), then you're not going to make money on VR. Depending on what your company offers as a rate for VR is what you would have to use to arrive at a base figure. One company pays 60%. That means in order to just break even you'd have to produce 40% more than you do in straight typing. That means at 350 lines per hour straight typing, you'd have to produce 490 lph in VR just to break even. Then you'd have to take into consideration that when you do VR you're not editing like QA editing. You have to completely edit the whole report, read the whole thing, and correct all errors. This sometimes takes as much time as straight typing depending on the dictator. Some are very easy. Some you have to correct almost the entire report. Chances are that you're not going to consistently get very easy reports every day, all day. If you're working on an overflow account for a client that has in-house transcription or for a client that has multiple transcription services, you can bet your bottom dollar that you're not getting the easy reports at all, let alone consistently.
Careflow, web based.
cc
They use DOS-based software sm
Medtype and Medrite. Nothing done in Word. All DOS-even email. Use PC anywhere for file transfer over phone line. 6 cents per line to start. QA 98-100 is very difficult to get and maintain. They supply equipment.
Actually it's based on four things...
The pay plan is based on production, QA scores, how much you send for help, and whether you have a CMT. It is evaluated every month. By the way, the pay plan was actually created through our employee vision team, which gives employees input into how the company is run. I happen to like it as it means I make more money when I am able to produce more and I get that increase for at least a month. Has worked for me and others to give consistent raises for good performance. The platform is pretty easy, there are people who are doing 2500-3000 lines/day on it.
Not based on average..
PTO is based on 1200 lines, not by an average.
U.S. based company
Softscript, Inc. or www.softscript.com is completely U.S. based, no offshoring. A nice company to work for (from home). Located in Santa Monica.
New at home based...
I would like to get some feedback on a few companies. I have been offered positions from AccuScribe, Cymed. I am an IC now and have been in a hospital setting for several years, now at home working for a local company that does not pay well.
This newbie really needs some help!
Thanks in advance!
Carly
Also, how can you recommend DR based on the
original poster's request? SE status and not strict schedule? DR offers none of the above! Sheesh! What a waste of board space! Must be a DR supe or recruiter.
This may be the one.....are they based in Florida.....
reliable pay?? PT work? IC or employee status? What type of equipment is required?
TIA
It can if it is word based
Any word based Expander can be copied over into Medware.
AND based on the wording and the
number of years (3) claimed to have worked for this pitiful company.....there must be only one person taking up for them. How sad. If you have been following the board for the past few weeks, you are surely aware of the current employees who have went to the feds over the wrong doings of this company. LOL!!!
keystrokes, web based? sm
How is the platform, is it user friendly? Does anyone work there and use satellite to connect? Thanks!
based on your paragraph
it came to about the same amount of lines, actually, the 37 char lines were a fraction higher; so it sounds comparable to me.
Since they are based in India probably willing to pay
.
Pay is based on production.
They have a few different levels. Maximum pay rate is for 225 lph minimum. That schedule is in the process of being revised and s/b finished within the next few weeks, most likely upward to our advantage and to include shift differential. For more details on the current pay rates, you may want to speak to a recruiter since I don't want to give incorrect details. I'm at the top pay level, and I make good money there, but there are other programs as well (like Star team). There is also weekend differential. Pay on holidays is time and a half if you work plus straight holiday time, which is why I almost always volunteer to work holidays if my daughter is with her dad.
It isn't based on any particular WP program. Can use
with Word though and probably is in most cases.
DVI - MS Word based

Are they the ones based in Wetumpka?
If so, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heard they do not pay. I heard that from a few people. I have no experience with them personally.
