Healthscribe became Avicis until someone threatened them about that name being too close to theirs..so then they went back to the HS name...and then they were bought out by Spheris and the George Soros folks, the democrat who was so anti-outsourcing but decided to jump on the offshoring bandwagon because he couldn't resist the bucks....and HS already had a very successful Indian operation..so that was the ONLY reason he did the Spheris / HS deal, was to get the already established India setup. Spheris hates their own MTs. True, they usually have plenty of work, but have been running out a lot lately. The benefits used to be okay, but we just got our notification about changes at the beginning of the year, and the new benefits are TERRIBLE (if one can call them benefits). I have been around this field a few years, and I can say first hand that you don't want to waste your time with Spheris. They would sooner hire a neighbor than to hire or promote a qualified person from within. You will never get anywhere with Spheris. They like for you to work in 4-5 different accounts on a daily basis, depending on where you are put. If you disagree with any of your supervisors, they put you in exile in an awful account for a while to punish you. But hey, don't listen to me. Go ahead and go for it if you want to try them out. I got out. They are really going down the tubes FAST.

They changed their name, was it Healthscribe before? If so
they don't pay very well.

I'm not sure what you are referring to ... Spheris acquired Healthscribe a few years back.

However,I think they were probably one of, if not the first, ones to offshore to India.

keep in mind SPHERIS OFFSHORES - THEY ARE PART OF HEALTHSCRIBE
Healthscribe linked up with Spheris and has an office in India. I know this because I worked directly with both companies but not as a transcriptionist. Personally, I think any Transcriptionist would be better off going somewhere else.
