It has to do with how the parameters are set to pay for particular keystrokes. For example: It can be set up to where the letter *i* counts for 2 characters, the letter *t* for 1. It can also be set up where things in bold are paid more, data tags do not count at all, etc. If your pay has dropped then it is because your characters within those reports are not being paid at the same rate, which is not something DQS decided to do on its own, if you know what I mean!
