I know this is a tall order, but are there any MT jobs like any of these scenarios:
Mon through Friday?
Tuesday through Saturday, with Saturday being only 4 hours?
Tuesday through Friday?
Being able to take 2 weeks vacation per year with any of these above scenarios?
Decent pay per line? (more than 7.5 cpl)
I need to start looking again, but don't know where to start.
Thanks to all of you!

I think it is a little bit the first scenario and
I left a few months ago and there was a major exodus of people who had worked there for years, myself included. We had weathered the changes there over the years, but the recent ones were too costly. It's great when you first start there, but the honeymoon doesn't last long at all anymore. At least it used to last a couple years, but those days at Transcend are long gone.
Okay, Here is the scenario...sm
What is your first thought when a physician all of a sudden spells out words that every Transcriptionist should know, when they have never spelled them out before. And when you receive a general e-mail stating what mistakes they have been finding, yet you KNOW you have not been making those errors.
Yet when you are hired, your cpl is based on the number of lines you can commit to and not the quality of work you produce.
Yes, you are a statutory employee.
Regarding having a backup account: Lets say that you have met your line count for the day, and you want/need to work extra. Are you going to stick with your primary? Or go to your secondary account to get those extra lines? Everyone knows that when you type on your secondary account, you lose money because you are not as proficient with that account. It just really irks me that when you are in a pool with other people, and the company asks for the number of lines you will do in a day, then someone goes over that count by 100%, do they not realize they are taking away from someone else's line count? There is a reason they ask for the number of lines you can do in a day - so they can hire the appropriate amount of people to cover those lines.
I got laid off too,. same scenario. sm
There were several of us that got the ax with no warning.
That very scenario played out for me last month.
Transcription Express was hiring ICs, but expected me to work every evening after 6pm and every weekend, both days. They said that the owner might agree to giving me Sunday off, but nothing else. Not exactly an IC position!!!
I think Transcription Express is hiring again. So, any of you who enjoy being called ICs but treated as employees, there's an opportunity for you.
I hope the IRS has Transcription Express on their list of companies to audit.
Yeah, the layoff scenario went thru my head, as well, especially (sm)
since I hear this co. has a branch in India.
So then, the waiting period for the first job would not count in that scenario.
But the next insurance would cover if there was no break if employee stayed at old company, kept that insurance and then had no lapse in insurance when going to the next job. Is that correct?
Scenario: No work. Docs not dictating. You are an employee. What does that do to your
If you are doing no work, well, any formula to extrapolate your "down" rate of pay is still going to equal zip.
And if you go on vacation? what does that do to your "down" rate of pay? If you have no sick leave and you can't type, what does that do to you "down" rate of pay?
If you have no PTO yet and you are down for weather, computer problems, etc. if you are an employee, are you kicked to SE? What happens to your insurance?
These are all questions you need to get hard answers to and get answers that are palatable. And get them in writing.
Sounds like my situation, same scenario, first monday, then wednesday, now???
I would quit with no notice. I have begged and pleaded with the company and I cannot continue to go unpaid. I have bills to pay and a family to support. It is unfair and unjust. Just my 2 cents.
