Do companies give raises?
Not in this economy. Just give thanks you have a job.
If MT companies do not give out raises, how do they sm
expect you to keep up with the cost of living? I've been at my company for 2 years and was shot down for a raise. I know others have been at their companies much long with no raises. If I worked at a hospital or clinic, I would have gotten a raise by now. Just something to show the appreciate me would be nice! Are all companies this greedy?

Does FutureNet give annual raises or any type of raises? nm

There are raises. They start everyone lower now and raise at 90 days. sm
I think this is to make sure that the person is a good fit, etc.
My account occasionally has incentive pay but I think that is account-specific.

MDI-FL does not give any raises.
Platforms stink. Bad accounts. Nasty people to deal with. Very disorganized, poor training, a regular witch in the HR/payroll department who takes pride in being condescending and mean. Flexible? Depends whether you are teacher's pet or not. If not, you get the worst accounts they have. Forget communication. There is none, but never ask a question because you will get a wrong answer and still be in the dog house. They really need some lessons on how to treat people like people, not like you are a robot and want to work 24/7.
Do they ever give raises? nm

Yes they give raises; for example,
I received a nice raise after 30 days, and the starting cpl was already 9 cpl. Very generous to work for and you are treated respectfully, even if QA gives you constructive criticism. They are never demeaning or reprimanding, and believe me I have worked where QA people could care less how they make you feel. No so with MDI. I am here for life!
They do NOT give raises..
Met many who work for them and they have NEVER gotten a raise...ever....
MDI doesn't give raises.

I got one last year; not big, but it was a raise. nm

No, decided to give myself a raise.
This week I decided that I should be making more money. So I quit dinking around on the internet while I was working and really focused. I also decided to track my hours to make sure I was working close to 8 (I thought I was, but I realize now it was more like 7). This week my production has increased by about 13%. With incentive, that amounts to at least 15% more in my paycheck. Didn't realize I was wasting so much time. Personally, I love working on production for this very reason. My husband, on the other hand, is working more hours and had to take a 15% pay cut recently (he is in management). I truly don't believe the grass is greener on the other side.
I have had a raise every year at my employer
So, yes, there are people that do get raises.
Were you promised a raise after a year?

Anyone self-employed doesn't get a raise unless they give

I was started at 8.5 and given a raise after a year to 9 cents sm
I know that I hired on at a time when they were desperate and I have many years of experience, hence the more than usual. I was also an IC.
I have not heard of anyone else getting a raise, however. Employees were given a line count incentive and told if they wanted more money to work more. ICs had no such luck. They are management top heavy with a team leader and at least 1 QA for each team, 6 teams at the moment. They also have an MT manager, an IT manager with 4 people under him, and 6 people to go after new accounts (few new accounts while I was there), an office manager and 2 or 3 people who do payroll and human resources. LOADS of support people means the MTs who actually do the work get paid less. Keep in mind, they only have about 225 to 250 MTs at any given time. Top heavy.
Where I work now, we have an office staff of 7 and about 13 other support people for 350+ MTs. You'd think I'd have problems getting questions or problems solved and I don't. They are right there 24/7. Result? We get paid more per line.
I don't know, Zylo was a great place when I was there and has steadily gone to pot over the past 6 to 9 months.
I have been 1 year and asked for raise, no luck
I have been on very difficult accounts heavy ESL acute care in 6 or 7 different hospitals and they won't give me a raise. And the proficiency reports they publish show those working on one account at one surgical center making 300+ lines an hour and us with the ESL at 6 or 7 hospitals struggling to get 150!! Just not fair!
What other profession do you know of that doesn't give a yearly raise?
The MTSOs raise their rates each year . . . . . . . .
What incentives? What skewed raise policy? Give details!
Most every company gives sign-on bonus (is this the incentive that you speak of?) depending on need. It's the nature of the business. However, there haven't been any for quite a while at Transcend that I know of.
Shorter time for raises? How so? Show me the raise tier structure for long-time employees versus newbies, and how it differs. The raise tier is posted on the MLS website for all to see, and I certainly don't see anything that could be construed as shorter time for raises for newbies. If you have inside information, please ante up.
What enticements, specifically? All I can recall in the past is that people who had left recently were told they could come back and retain PTO seniority, or something along those lines. I don't see enticements being posted on job boards. If you do, please ante up.
Again, you won't give specifics, despite repeated requests. Vague comparisons aren't facts.
I will agree with you on one thing. Every company should value their dedictated, loyal employees. Your loyalty and knowledge is rewarded by the fact that you get a paycheck that is probably higher than a newbies because you aren't struggling to learn a new account rules, new doctors, and a new system. There's your personal reward. Experience.
This is a very competitive field and when employees are needed there has to be room for negotiation. MTSOs are not hiring on Wal-Mart standards.
9 months and it is not worth staying a year to get the BIG .002 cent raise.
Working for OSi will burn you out quick!
Raises and Companies These Days ~
It seems to me that companies want to continue to make the same amount they've always made off of their MT's, times are tight, you will lose out before they do. And, unfortunately, you are replaceable. If they lose good, loyal MT's because of their practices, they probably shrug. It's not like it used to be. No gold watches or, for that matter, being paid what you are worth. :(
Is OSI the only company that gives yearly raises?
.
Give it up. You have been here saying it for a year now. sm
You are probably the same person who posts about other companies. What's the matter? Can't get and hold a job? Maybe you should get a clue. No one wants you.
Give it another year...
i just left after 4 years from spheris. if you have 24 years experience, you are killing yourself to get piddly pay. I have 4-1/2 years experience only and am making three times that much! that is awful. Anyway, i started there when it was healthscribe, then avicis, then spheris. i have seen huge changes, NONE of them for the MT's benefit!! Moving On hit the nail on the head. You have only been there two years. Give it more time and you will be among us ex-Spheris people. (Don't worry, I did the same thing at my 2-year mark!) Most importantly, you are killing yourself for piddly money. ouch. i'm glad you are happy. And I don't understand why people have to be rude to one another. Moving On is sooo correct. and even if he wasn't, it's HIS opinion. That's what these boards are for. Don't rip on individuals for giving their opinion. not saying this directly to you, Former MQ, but all involved in this thread.
I know. IT'S SUCH A GREAT COMPANY THAT THIS IS LIKE A PAY RAISE.
Not a pay cut. God bless us everyone!
Wonder if those support in the office get any raises. We are paying their raises, huh?
you know they ARE getting raises!
That is MTSO PR b.s. A raise is a raise in line rate. A bonus or incentive is just that. NOT sm
a raise.
The Indians didn't get a raise, but I'll bet the CEO of the phone company did!! nm

Asking for a raise isn't going to do it. There is a policy for raise increases.

Why don't these companies give us
all of the information right up front? Even if they can't give the exact pay, at least a range, along with the benefits. We wouldn't have to go through applying and testing over and over, and they wouldn't receive hundreds of resumes to go through for each job. It would save us all, the companies and the transcriptionists, a lot of
aggravation! Maybe I'm missing something, but it makes sense to me.
What companies out there give you (sm)
assigned work, as in a handful of dictators. I am looking to pick up some clinic work without large armies of dictators to get used to! Thanks!
or maybe it's really a good company. Give me a break. If a company isn't talked about sm
on here, good or bad, it's probably too small to matter and does not offer benefits or anything at all.
Can't you give her any names for companies? sm
You have been around and tried many - you should have some names to give yourself.
Can you give me the name of companies who are flexible in regards to
once you are done with your required lines or your own personal goal, but is less than 8 hours, allow you to stop at that point. Hope that makes sense. Say I can do 1500 lines in 6 hours, are there any companies who will allow me to quit once I get my 1500 lines? If so, would you share the names please?
when referring to Bad Companies, give the name.

Any companies out there give birthday bonuses or anything? sm
My birthday is right around the corner and I would love to know how many companies out there take the time out to remember our birthdays. I understand that these companies might have many, many employess or ICs, but we are not just a number...or are we? Just curious to find out the good companies out there...
