Transcend will go the way of Edix
when they pulled the huge pay cut on their platform and struggled until the company was sold, MQ who had very innovative ways to cheat their employees and their customers and is in trouble. This is all about $$$ in their pocket - make a big profit early and then leave the company and let it fall apart.
I have worked for MQ, Spheris back when it was Edix, Transcend and OSI. TransTech is by far the bes
The pay is decent, probably not the highest in the business but not the lowest either. The benefits are good. Pay is always on time. Great bonuses. Great communication and most of all I really like the people and it makes me enjoy being an MT again.
Yes, I believe Transcend management...
posts quite often on this board. I would bet my next paycheck on it. That is one reason you do not see a lot of negative posts from employees. I think people are afraid that they have a way of knowing who is posting what. I'm glad they read our posts so that they know what is really important to us because when we have conference calls, everyone is afraid to speak up--that is one reason I do not attend a lot of conference calls.
So do you think it was Transcend management on here last week?
I'm just saying that we have to agree to disagree. The mud slinging that goes on here has nothing to do with the companies but more to prove one's opinion/experience with these companies. I agree that we need to have an informed place about these companies but we cannot get mad if we do not have the same opinions.
Yep, I liked it better when it was Edix too.
z
I worked for them when they were Edix and
they were terrible to work for. You couldn't even scratch your arse without them calling and asking why you weren't typing and I have heard that it has gotten worse since they became Spheris.
Spheris, did it used to be EDIX
nm
Spheris/Edix, sm
After working for this company for 6 months and not being able to achieve my normal line count, I started snooping if you will into their computer system and found MT line count and line count (not verbatim but like that). The mt line count was lower than the line count. Sure enough, every report was about 35% lower in that regard. Even a friend of mine saw the same decrease in her line count and we both could not figure it out. I asked my supe about and she said someone would get back to me. Guess what, no one ever did. We both quit.
You are just another victim of that company. Sorry!!!
Spheris Edix side
Notice how you didn't get any responses? That's because there aren't any good things to say about Spheris.
Used to work for Edix - how is Spheris?
Hi,
Used to work for Edix. How is Spheris? Have been out of the field for a few years due to health issues. Want to hear it all - good and bad. Thanks,
Hopeful MT
That was me and Edix fired me due to chemo
.
The old Edix, before they put in the new platform, and before they were sold.
Team leaders were professional, they kept the team members informed of what was going on within the company, made sure the full time employees had enough work, and went the extra mile to provide samples for difficult dictators. It was as close to working in an office as you could get without actually being in an office. If they called you, there were no interruptions or background noise from family/animals, etc. Business was business. They were flexible. We got feedback monthly on our performance. After they changed platforms, everything changed and information was top secret so we were treated like mushrooms. I think most of the good team leaders left at that time, too.
That might have worked when co was still Edix, things are different

Edix versus Spheris
I worked for Edix a number of years ago, but I never worked for Spheris after Spheris bought out Edix. Is there anyone who worked for Edix and did not leave when Edix was sold who could tell me what changes were made and if they are worth working for. I saw some posts below about not being able to make the line count for the day. Is this a sign that things are not good with Spheris?
Oh, yeah, I still do have the Edix cookbook...
and yeah, I do remember a cookie jar; I believe that went to the local thrift store. Yep, former Edix employee.
when I worked at Edix ... (now spheris) (sm)
when they were trying to get more hospital accounts within a system, they would promise them the moon and assign an absurd number of MT's to my accounts ... so that I got virtually NO work on my regular accounts and had to ask for more accounts -- which became time consuming and more importantly NERVE WRACKING to work on so many relatively new accounts all at once -- again -- some of which I got very little work on .... (very different from really learning one or two accts, adding another -- learning that -- then adding another -- truly I was a wreck -- oh and my line count truly sucked -- so when I saw there was an opening at a local MTSO, I lept ... I was stressed out and making no money ... and I had been on these teaching hospital accounts (my favorite) for over 5 years ... sad)
That's what the message above about accounts up for renewal (as in contracts) meant ... in my case, Edix hoped to get more hospitals in this national chain (most national hospital chains, I think, use more than one service so that if something happens they aren't completely left in a lurch) -- at the time I left probably almost 10 years ago, Edix also had a VERY unstable platform that was down a great deal ... trust me -- it was hell
Can someone offer anything good to say about EDIX side
of Spheris. I really need this job, but I have heard some not so good things about EDIX side of Spheris. Also, there are no recent posts regarding EDIX, so can someone offer up their good experience with them. The last I read, they do not pay for spaces and dock for errors. I am not looking for a fight on this board. I just want someone's elses opininion on EDIX side of Spheris. I really appreciate this and I thank you and god bless.
Sounds like they haven't changed much since they were Edix.
That was the biggest waste of time for me. I literally would be at my desk on and off for 12 hours to try to get 8 hours of work. We got the same excuse, holiday slowdown. BS is right! Hello! Halloween is not a holiday that people take off and vacation for. They were sending as much of that work to India as they could. Of course they asked us for a list of the worst dictators on our account, which we foolishly provided. A few weeks later, that is all I would get, the worst of the worst. They sent the best dictators to India, and we had to fight for the scraps of crap that was left. Get out, get out now, don't wait. Best thing I did was quit that job. It will suck you dry, monetarily and emotionally.
I can certainly remember Edix and the change to Spheris....
Hi Miss Willy..I certainly remember the Edix days. I LOVED Edix and haven't found a company that truly yet matches what they were and how much they appreciated their MTs. I stayed through the switch, unfortunately, and then left just a little bit later. Spherix really was not the best place to be. Maybe it was because of the changes, but I really disliked it and had to get away. Probably should be grateful that we are both out of there, because they are a global company now.
reCan someone offer anything good to say about EDIX side
There is not an EDIX side. It is one company Spheris.
I left EDiX/Spheris after 8 years there to come to Webmedx. SM
I moved over here in 2003 because I knew the recruiter and she told me it was a great place to work. She was right. The benefits are fair, the work plentiful, the bosses fantastic, and the QA staff wonderful. Good luck!
EDiX ...hated the platform, absent mgmt, no support.
........................................
EDiX--hand's down. A 4-letter, totally dysfunctional outfit. nm
/
If you made a graph of all the things taken away by Edix/Speris in the last 5 years.....
You would be shocked, although it has been 6 years since it started.....
first charging for errors, about 6 years ago (they stopped that), then insurance changed for the worst, regrading hospitals to their advantage so you would make at least 200. to 300 less a pay period, the list is long, long, long. I can go back 6 years up to 2 years ago when I finally left.
System great, pay good, everything great, but most managers from old Edix, problems, poor people ski
when you are out of work, you are out of luck. If you are good at brown-nosing, are tough enough to be without any self-esteem, and have maybe money coming into the household on the side in case you tick someone off, then you may succeed, for a little while.
Don't ever ask questions or have problems with anything. Don't ever have a problem. Don't think you will have any control over anything you do, either.
A few 'good' managers remained when I left, but the new ones were all from the old Edix, and were completely into numbers, cared nothing for individual MTs...if there is work, you BETTER be working. If there no work, you will hear nothing, no one will help you.
Transcend bought MDI, so if Transcend sends work offshore, so does MDI. nm
nm
We heard Transcend is buying Keystrokes next. I'm not working for Transcend. No Way !
nm
If MDI-FL is owned by Transcend and Transcend admittingly offshores, sm
then doesn't that make MDI a company that offshores? That's like saying that one branch of a company offshores but another does not, so they are excluded from the offshore label. If MDI-FL is part of Transcend and Transcend offshores, that means that they do.
RE: If MDI-FL is owned by Transcend and Transcend admittingly offshores, sm
Your hypothesis is incorrect. MDI is a wholly independent subsidary of Transcend, therefore, they were not a part of the experiment to offshore to evaluate cost/benefit ratio that Transcend only tried for 90 days (I believe the evaluation process is not still ongoing).
Hello Management
Give me a break! You are a supervisor, and I know who you are. Spare us this bologna.
SB
If only more management could be like you!
I'd buy you a drink as well! Thank you for the kind words.
Management again??!!!
kidding. "Excellent program", is that why everyone is leaving OSi, because it is so good??!!!
Management...don't you have anything to do?
If TT is growing by leaps and bounds, how do you have the time to get on here and contradict the truth? You don't like negatives about your company, but you're not perfect either.
I am not management -- I don't even
work for them anymore! You can state your opinion, but you are giving inaccurate information about things such as benefits and whether or not you can use ShortHand. Obviously I wasn't all that thrilled with them either or I would still be there.
lol, I have been an MT for 20+ yrs and many of them in management.
x
I don't know when the management...SM
was ever great, it was bad 4 years ago when I was there and from your description things haven't changed a bit since then. A bunch of office people with titles, the MTs typing all the work are ignored, avoided and treated badly. We used to call the office in Pittsburgh a kingdom because it was filled with people who never worked past 4:00 in the afternoon, 2:00 on Fridays...never to be heard from until Monday around 9:00 AM.
Not management
I never said I agreed with them docking your pay for errors. BUT, I did say that they only do it if you fall below 98%. Isn't this the norm? Keeping an accuracy rate of 98% or better? So why would you worry about being docked if you maintain 98% or better? They are like any other MT companies, they want quality reports.
Not Management
potatoMT RIGHT ON
NOT management and sorry you could not cut it. nm
x
Definitely has to be management ..SS
AMEN !!!
I am definitely NOT their management.......
or anyone else's for that matter. I am just a lowly pee-on MT with 6 years experience trying to make an honest living, and get nothing but lies from this company. I am looking for other work, just like the others who have emailed me privately, who also work for them now and are in the same predicament that I am in. Work flow lying is the main problem with this company. They say there is none, but, in fact, there is. They just turn you off. When there is work, why not give it to us??? This question has been asked by us more than once. Lots more companies out there, so we will just keep looking.
Why don't you take this up with management. (sm)
As far as bonuses being offered unnecessarily on weekends, I think they like to be caught up as best they can on Mon morning, unlike a lot of services who get behind on the weekends. I don't think it really has anything to do wtih overstaffing. JMO. I thought there is extra pay for Sat or Sunday anyway, isn't there?
Must be management. They are NOT one of the
best companies, the absolute worst one I have ever had contact with and if you look through the archives there are many, many more who agree with me.
I am not management.
I am a very hard-working, high-producing MT who has as much to lose as the next MT. I, however, am choosing to keep an open mind and know that my work speaks for itself and decided that this new opportunity for me sounds like a good one. More work, job opportunities, and help in becoming an even better producer sounds good to me; guess not to every MT though.
I'm not Management... (sm)
What, you think I'm a *plant* because I'm seeing it half-full instead of half-empty? LOL If you'll go back and read a couple of my earlier posts regarding this whole thing, you'll notice that I worked for MQ (until they were bought out by furrinners) and I've been around for 16 years as an MT - IC, SE, employee -- but never as Management.
All I'm doing is repeating (again) what was explained to the DRC employees in the web conference and what has already been posted here to be read by anyone: If the client requires USA-based MTs, that's the DRC side. Yes, they'll charge more for the USA-based MTs (who will be paid more than the Indian MTs) and it would therefore be in Acusis' best interest to have as many USA-requiring clients as possible. Yes?
(Unless, of course, you're going along with the suspicion that the Indian MTs will be passed off as USA MTs and the clients won't know the difference.) (And man's first steps on the moon were filmed on a Hollywood sound stage made to look like green cheese...)
NOT MANAGEMENT
But I love working for Transcend, what is wrong with someone saying that? They are flexible and do pay very well.
Management
Okay, now I KNOW management is posting here. I am the person who left 3 times. Twice due to medical. HOWEVER, I only made 2 friends at DSG who were not management, neither one is stil at DSG. Both told me to leave a long time ago. Both were treated badly and that is why they left. I never believed them.
Besides anyone who knows that I tried to come back a 4th time would have to be management, think about it!
I took Karen's advice and moved on. I am very happy where I am at and in fact, I am very thankful that DSG did not take me back as I would have stayed there forever and worked a lot longer/harder/dumber for less money than I am making now.
I do not have bad things to say about DSG, only that I was disappointnted that I was told I could come back if openings when my mother-in-law had recoverd and that was a lie or changed minds or whatever you want to say. I would not change the way things turned out. I am very happy where I am now. So THANK YOU DSG! They were good to me 3 times and 3 times I was charmed. There was just not meant to be a 4th time. Again, different people different experiences. Try DSG, don't try DSG no longer makes any difference to me. I will not dog DSG, but I will not defend them either. I hope Lynda's friend moves on as I did. I think she is better off if they did this to her after she stayed with them without leaving like I did for 4 years.
Thank you - no I am not management.
But the happy ones are always accused of being management.
I am NOT Management
I have to say that my tenure at Transtech has been the most pleasant experience I have had with any national company. They do actually care about their MT's instead of just caring about the best way to screw them out of something. They are in a completely different class - and I hope they stay that way.
I am writing this to give encouragement to the disheartened MT's who have been bruised, berated, and battered by unqualified, uncaring, power-tripping people in Management - I have been there, and there is hope. There are good companies out there, and you just have to find them. Most of the people I know have not been fortunate enough to have found the perfect MTSO the first time around. We have job hopped too many times and it's no fun.
I miss the camaraderie of my former jobs in offices - but I make certain to keep up with my old friends, go to the gym, take continuing ed classes, go for a jog during the day, jump in the pool if it's warm, go to luncheons at church, get a massage, etc. It can get pretty depressing sitting in front of a computer all day, then when you get hounded for something that's not your fault in the first place by Management it makes you want to scream.
Job hop if you must. About 90% of these companies truly are awful, and the other 10% don't have the need to be constantly running ads because they are able to retain the BEST MT's, and TransTech is one of them.
I see where some companies have been trashed on here - and rightly so - such that they don't even bother posting ads anymore but they are still desperately hurting for MT's because thankfully MT's are not putting up with the abuse anymore. If you see on any job board, not just this one, companies who constantly have an ad up there most of the time it will be because they suck to begin with, not because they are growing and need new staff. You MT's know the companies I am talking about.
I wish everyone the same luck I have had. Now I am left alone to work, make more money than ever before (outside of the office) because I'm not constantly being harassed by a micromanager.
I would never want to be management, IMO
I would hate having to deal with the clients directly, always having to be reachable, and not to mention trying to keep track of multiple MTs. I'm much happier just straight typing.
Management
I hate to see the bad feedback all the time about OSi. I have been here a while too. Change is inevitable, growth is inevitable, and technology is ever changing - you have good and bad within every company. The account manager position is more like a liason position - you would be the representative for the company. Please, please, please - I love this company and I know we have our problems but if you plan on applying for this job you will be our first contact with new clients, make sure you are happy with OSi so we get a positive attitude from the start! If people that work at OSi are not having a good experience it is probably stemming from their immediate supervisor - TALK TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP! or better yet talk to your supervisor! If you dont communicate how do you expect anything to change?
