If you read your paperwork, you'll see that is an option they have. Also, the state of Illinois

You'll get employment paperwork via email. sm
The HR person is out emergently today and yesterday, so there may be a delay. Storm on its way to Illinois today too!
Let me check my paperwork and I'll shoot you an email. NM

I think the new hires really need to read thier paperwork. They get a ton of it.
sdf
read again; not only does the paperwork say Hard Wire ....

If you'll read through past posts you'll find lots of
recent info.  Why do you need menitoring if you already work as an MT.  Unless you do clinic work most companies will require you to work at least one weekend day, at least initially.
If you'll read the archives you'll find out everything
you want to know, none of it good.
If you'll read more carefully you'll see
I was referring to AFTER she's missed out on a job, having a friend do sort of an audit to tell her what what was wrong with her test she submitted -- not cheating.
Thanks guys for taking the time to respond to my post. I'll go with the State job if offered.
I may do some PT/IC a couple days of the week just to keep my skills up and just in case they offer the lower rate of pay.

Gonna miss you Guys. Thanks for all your help.
Yes, don't even think about it. If you'll read the
archives there should be plenty of information why you should look elsewhere.
If you read through the archives you'll see not
much good about this company, especially from people who refused to listen to the issues that others had and went to work for them anyway.  They offshore big time, constant turnover.   I wouldn't consider it.
If you read the archieves you'll see Spheris
is NOT a good company.
They offshore. Lots of posts about them if you'll read
the archives.
Worst company to work for. Read the archives and you'll
be hard pressed to find anything good about this company.
Read the content of the website and you'll see the Phillipine association. nm

Unless something has changed, health insurance rates vary state by state, so we may not have the
info you need.  I'm an IC so I don't have benefits.
You are correct. The state that rules is the state the employee lives in.
My state laws has is spelled out in their Code. If another state does not withhold, they are fined heavily and if they don't withhold for years, their fines are pretty bad. I worked for a Florida co that did not withhold income tax for my state even after I brought it to their attention in the state code. They kept saying that they would eventually and never did. After two plus years and when I left, I made it known to my state all the conversations, the state refunded me all late fees they charged me and then said they were going after the company in Florida because they had many employees in our state. They deserved it. They knew better.
The state you live in or the state where the MTSO is located? nm
nm
If company is in state that has no state taxes
they are not required to take out state taxes.  It's enough to keep up with your own state tax law code, could you imagine having to stay abreast of 49 other state tax codes?  The cost would be huge and ultimately passed on to us by lower line rates.  Regardless of who owes the tax, someone has to pay it.  Just a matter of convenience I guess.
Not state by state, federal labor law - sm
and you don't have to be asked. If you work it, asked or not, they have to pay time and a half OT rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.

Taken right from U.S. Dept of Labor -
An employer who requires or PERMITS an employee to work overtime is generally required to pay the employee premium pay for such overtime work. Employees covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)MUST receive overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek of at least one and one-half times their regular rates of pay. The FLSA does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest.

Extra pay for working weekends or nights is a matter of agreement between the employer and the employee (or the employee's representative). The FLSA does not require extra pay for weekend or night work or double time pay.

Different state to state. You would be surprised to find

IC can be defined differently state to state.  Even the IRS cannot come up with a definitive set of rules.  You would be surprised how many ICs actually get unemployment in some states.  If the unemployment claim form asks specifically if you are an independent contractor, do not lie, but if it does not, do not volunteer it.  Let the company prove you are a true IC according to the rules of your state.  All you lose is a few minutes filling out the claim form.  I would only do it as a last resort.  If you can find work fast, by all means go for it, but the way things are now with all the VR and off-shoring, it is a backup if you cannot find work.  No one should go hungry because they are afraid to file for Unemployment as an IC.

No. In Illinois.
 They do not offshore.

Anyone hear of them or have experience with them?

Thank you
paperwork
Hi, Not with this company, but if they are overwhelemed it will take time -- also, Fed Ex and UPS are recovering from the holidays and may have subsitutes on the routes -- ie -- I live in rural FL and my roommate FREAKED today because she thought someone was in the mailbox -- sub carrier -- they a lot of times are NOT familiar with the route and the BEST thing that I can suggest to ANYONE is to call the company and get the tracking # -- I did it and most are very accommodating and that way you can see if it is in transit -- if it says delivered and a time and its not under a doormat, in the yard, in a mailbox, etc THEN worry
paperwork
Did you get yours via email? How long did it take to receive it? I was half expecting to get it today because everything else went to quickly.........
Paperwork
Yes, I got an e-mail with attachments to print out all the paperwork required. Then, I filled it all out and faxed it back.
I have already gotten a call from their IS to check my computer system, which they did, and now just waiting for the ID #'s from hosp and then IS will call me back to load software into my comp. Heard from them today, said I should be good to go by end of this week.
Paperwork
My God....that was pretty quick...wished I owned my on computer....would apply....
Paperwork?
When did you receive that paperwork?  I've received nothing in the mail at all from Transcend.  From the communications I've gotten, it's just going to transfer over, which I would hope means all of our information as well.  I know they are supposed to be sending us the policy and procedures manual.  Is that what you are talking about?
How is Transolutions, Inc. out of Illinois to work for?
Would like to know about platforms, pay days how often, and any other pertinent info you all might have regarding this company, specifically for radiology work.  TIA
Transcription Services of Illinois
Does anyone have any information on this company?  I've been contacted by them and have had several email conversations with one person in particular.  She seems pretty sure about wanting me to help out and said she would contact me today but so far I have not heard from her, even after sending an email to her regarding this this morning.  Just wondering if I should persue this or not.  Thanks in advance.
Words R Us out of Illinois ? Is this legit?

TSI Illinois? Just found old info - help please

Any info on this company is greatly appreciated.  I have done a search but seems info is old and mostly negative.  If anyone can provide updated info, that would be welcome.

Anything on Southern Illinois Transcription
I am just curious if they have good accounts, what type, VR or straight typing?  Are they a good company to work for?  Do they pay at least 8 cpl? Thanks
Southern Illinois Transcription...from below...sm
Please steer clear of this one.  the owner is rude, moody, and sends out emails YELLING (all caps) Threatening and if you try to contact other MTs who work on the same account with you, she gets hightly ticked off.  I told her she was crazy and then was gone!  Maybe she needed medication or something.
interesting. Here is TSI illinois info

There is another option, DO SOMETHING ELSE!

Of course not! You gotta think outside the box. If this profession bothers you that much, learn to do something else instead of whining for years on end! It's no one's fault that you're stuck in employment neutral but your own.

That's one option...
but I would probably do a different shift.
You should have had the option of
I haven't been with them long.  I work a 12 hour window on second shift.  They prefer that you keep the same schedule for at least 6 months.
Yes PT is an option sm
Supervisor just sent out an email this week in fact encouraging us to use our employee referral program to find PT people.  They are especially seeing PT weekend help or 2nd 3rd PT help.  I don't know any other MTs in my area who are interested so the referral program ($500 for finding people that stay with the company) is not of any use to me.  We definitely need extra coverage on the weekends so those of us here already don't have to do OT everyweekend.  OT is not because of turnover it is because the account has grown and they can't keep up with current employees on the weekend schedule.
Not an option?
Then I suggest you get out of this business right now, because it's turned ugly in the past decade.

Trust me. You WILL earn less than you did 10 years ago.

Of course, you could stick to your other option ... unemployment. Enjoy that!

I wish you folks would stop whining for compassion, when you're so quick to turn your noses up at what the rest of the 'real' world has been going through.

Or is it only a tragedy when it happens to YOU?

Sorry if I don't get all teary-eyed at the thought of you have to 'settle' for the GOING RATE!!!!!!!!!

Form your own company. Then you can pay whatever you want. (And I'll guarantee you wouldn't be paying anyone else 11 cpl!!!!)
Can you check you paperwork again
it was Sten-Tel in MA. To my knowledge, they email all paperwork as attachments. That is how I received mine. Most companies don't go through the expense of mailing this. They refer you to their website if you are just inquiring. If you have been hired, they email the info to you.

What you have said does not sound like Sten-Tel in Springfield, MA - AT ALL.
In all the paperwork they sent you there is probably a schedule (sm)
showing payperiods for the year. Welcome aboard.
New hire paperwork
Did you mail or fax back all the new hire paperwork? I had to pay Kinko's $1.50 per page to fax back 15 pages as I don't have a fax machine and don't know anyone who does. It would be nice if they would mail the paperwork and allow MTs to mail it back as opposed to them emailing it and placing the responsibility on the MT to print out several pages and then find a way to fax it all in....expensive if you don't have a fax machine.
In all paperwork sent before hire, probably are
x
The current paperwork
they gave me mentions that very thing and how if the doctor changes Dear Dr X to Dear Bob, if it is not changed MTs don't get paid. This must be a big issue with the docs so they are sticklers on this I guess. So I guess I have no excuse and should not have that problem.
Anyone work for the Medquist Illinois office?
Just wondering how they are.
