On-site versus home
My hospital job was from home but again, I had been with them for years and I made good money and did not see how the industry had gone downhill. I did have an on-site job when I left the old job but after 9 months of traffic and office politics, I quit. Even though I work 2 jobs, the sad part is when there's a feast I make more money than I did with the onsite company and when there's famine, I make about the same as I did at the onsite. Unfortunately, I brought my CA bills and lifestyle to GA and my finances can't handle the fluctuation being a single mother.

I first worked from home in the early 90s, and also went on site later. I much prefer working at home because I am more productive here. I am a professional, and because I wanted to work the people on site would snicker, because every 8:30 a.m. they would go to breakfast, and 11:30 on the dot, off to lunch. Sorry for me time is money and I wanted to type. But, it was not a pleasant atmosphere because I did not play. So, I went back home and here I can make the money and eat out with my friends and family when I want to, not when everyone else wants to. That is my 2c.

In the early days, MedQuist said working at home was a benefit, therefore at-home sm
employees did not receive as many benefits as those working in-house. As I believe, it was something like at-home employees got 3 days off a year versus 10 days for the in-office employees -- WHAT?!!! I told them it made no sense to me, since by working at home I was saving them money -- no need to provide office space, equipment, references, utilities, etc. -- yet I get shafted. I was only part-time when they took over the previous company with their great policies, and I told them to kiss where I can't.

Honestly, I am looking for something similar. Unfortunately, have been and nothing. Twenty plus years in this business and it is getting worse. The pay is horrible, what the companies get away with is unbelievable, and this industry is going down the toilet fast.

I typed in Radiology in the keyword search on this site, and it pulled up a bunch of job postings by companies looking for Radiology MTs. Have you looked there already or tried those companies?

I transcribed for Compuscribe years ago. Had no problems, just low pay but no problems.
Go to the bottom of the page and click on a page
number to get the most recent archives and then can do Ctrl F and do a search for WebMedX. I wouldn't call them a small national.

COMPANIES ON MTJobs.com
What is it with all of these companies that keep posting over and over on MTJobs.com??? Same companies, over and over and over and over. My suspicion is because they absolutely can hold on to NO help. Any other opinions on this and just how much stock does anyone else take in those companies?

Both have employee jobs listed. I know Med-Scribe, Focus (don't automatically count them out, not all have had bad experiences), WebmedX, eTransPlus and a couple others are hiring employees.

I did and have been contacted by 4 companies. Talked on the phone to 2 different people and 1 was definitely better than the other in terms of pay. I'm just doing this to fill a gap until I get more clients for my own company but it's a living.

It's an SE position. Fortunately I'm a vet and can get my healthcare at the V.A. I'll figure something out later, but right now I need an INCOME since MQ has messed me up royally. I may have other places I could find health insurance, maybe through the small business organization or something. Ill miss my PTO, but, hey, nothing is perfect :)

Since the boards went through an update (about the time the MQ board was made) I haven't been able to see any specialty boards listed on the left anymore, just Top, Home, and Contact. I have to go to Home to see the list of the specialty boards and for some reason MQ board is not even on there with the others.

When the link opens up, look on the left-hand side under News & Info, and there is a section called message board. If this link doesn't work go to yahoo.com and click on finance. When the finance page opens up, type trcr at the top of the page where it says enter symbol(s). The message board link will be on the left-hand side of that page too.
