If you can stand sitting for long stretches to fulfill your schedule, you might not mind it...

I prefer working a required line count, not a set, rather inflexible schedule as I had at Webmedx...It's all in what you want to put up with. They, like almost all MTSOs, could care less about YOU..they just want you to grind out your lines. My supervisor was new and fairly unreasonable as well. Good riddance...

Does your behind get sweaty after sitting a long time in that chair?
My microfiber chair is pretty and okay but I get sweaty and I don't like it.
I would work also for as long as I could stand it...nm
xx
I think that it is a cop-out. The companies that stand their ground will prevail in the long run.

As long as anyone's work schedule is
approved by their supervisor, that is between them and their supervisor, not anyone else's business.
Long Time NY MT, would you mind
telling me what your line rate is?
Nope...MDI-MD for a long time as well and I have a schedule I have to follow! You've got it made
They want you to keep your schedule for TAT purposes but will work with you to find a good schedule
I love working there.
Yep, sitting here with nothing again...
There is very little on the system, can't even make low line count. What is happening????
I have to vent, as I am sitting here SM
with a throbbing headahce and chest pain. Every Friday, and I mean EVERY FRIDAY, I have a day from hades on my account. I work on a difficult account, lots of ESL, but generally I enjoy it and get work sent I really enjoy. I'm used to the doctors and it is not a problem any other day of the week, EXCEPT FRIDAYS, when I have one awful report after the next. I will have the worst doctors, one right after the next, without any let up. It could be random, I know, but I assume they are cleaning the mess out before the weekend, when they have less expereinced people working.
Do other people have the same experience? I work for a large company, not MQ. The other large company. And please, no discertations on not being professional, etc. I'm actually concerned for my health.
I do dog-sitting in my home. $15 per day.
x
I would be a sitting duck. That is why I am
trying to get out of my present situation of working every weekend, because I am easily swayed. Oh no. Thanks for letting me know this in advance. This, in particular is a weakness of mine and I need to avoid a situation like that at all costs!
well I am sitting here on MTstars so...
That means there are no jobs. I ran out about an hour ago. Guess I will grab some lunch and try again later. Have a good one.
I am still sitting today and running
out of work. This is not fair. When I hired in, I was told there was plenty of work. Now, the accounts I was told I was assigned are nonexistent. I am being told that they not know if and when these accounts will materialized. I was assigned clinic, yet the only thing I have recieved are OP reports. Long, hard, unclear OP reports. If I was hired and paid to do them, fine, I was not. Was told I had to start from the bottom and can only be allowed to do clinic. So what the @#%^&^& am I getting this junk work for. Moving on Monday. Thank god.
I agree, but now I am sitting here trying to figure it out.
I don't work for KS and I am just a nosey person. Also, I type all day so I have nothing else better to do than wonder what the initials stand for. Sad. Very sad (I am referring to my curiosity). No joke.
yep. Just sitting and drinking java.
x
Take pic of you sitting at PC with blanket draped
x
No, I am not sitting around. I am working all night
everyone is out having fun or sleeping. The only way to make a living. I cannot afford to sit and scrounge. I have no help outside of my own support and no family except a son to provide for, you better believe I don't sit and wait!
Also want to add, why should an MT stay at a co. that is always out of work. Sitting and waiting
:+
Well, this just makes no sense at all. Are you saying that TT management are sitting
posting positive things about their country to lure us all in? I know there are plenty of reasons to be paranoid about MTSOs these days, but isn't that taking it to a new level?
I am sitting here patting my foot as I read this
Reading through I got the impression she was not qualified in any way, shape or form, no experience and it showed just by what she was putting down. I am glad someone else saw through all this smoke.
In agreement with the above, sitting working on work
is just beyond what it should be. In earlier years I worked 2 jobs but each job paid every 2 weeks. One job paid 1 week, the other the next so my check each and every week was for 2 week pay period. How sweet was that! Now if I have a few hours downtime for no work it is fine, just take off, can make it up, don’t have to if I don’t want but very few times this happens and I only have a partime job now.
I am sitting here looking at an empty screen also so dont feel alone. What is going on with MQ out
of work like this. I have 4 backups and am still out. I guess they are hot and heavy on this turnaround time being nonexistent so they are over hiring now and we will look at more empty screens.
Yep I am sitting here with 3 large accounts and no work. Has anyone gotten any satisfaction from
speaking with corporate about this. These people in Amherst obviously do not know what they are doing. I wonder what the quality of this work looks like just throwing anyone and everyone on these accounts. Cant be too good. I have also noticed their QA people dont fill in blanks even for the docs that really are just more technical. Understandable with bad cell phones etc but just more technical or with an accent they dont get the blanks.
Sorry, but it's not me to go say "hey, remember me..I'm sitting with my hand out begging
for acknowledgment. Truly, not bashing the company. Overall, they have been good to me and that is why I stay. Maybe, they aren't the most organized but I am sure they try. I've worked extra to get bonuses and had to beg for that too (same thing..passing the buck..this person forgot to send it out, that person should have already done it, took about 2 months.............so..I'm done with that. I have a job and that's good enough for me. If there were any better companies out there, I'd be there but they have most beat on that. What I have found that overall the best place to work is not for nationals but local doctors. They are the most appreciative and obviously do not have a lot of employees so you don't get lost in the shuffle. Merry Christmas to All. I have my wonderful family who is my life, not my job and that is what matters most to me.
Well after getting tired of sitting and waiting for 2 weeks i just gave up. sm
Told work was coming in January, well I got trained in December so what good does that do me? I didn't sign in, just gave up. It took them 3 weeks to email and ask where have I been? Where do you think? Working for my other employer. After reading them posting jobs on this site day in and out I have no confidence at all in working for them. With all the time they wanted logging in and out, checking seperate web sites for line counts and QC, doesn't seem too friendly to the MT anyhow. Time to move on before I waste my time.
I'm feeling mighty depressed sitting here waiting on
.
Yeah, thinking about it sitting here in my sweats, hair up in a ponytail myself...sm
I must honestly say it is hard to demand respect looking like this. Thanks for making me smile!
It really does take unique people to be able to work while the kids are screaming in the background, the dog is bugging you because he wants to go outside for the hundredth time today, you know you only have one more load of laundry to catch you up for the day, and all the while you have the dictator who thinks it's ok to talk while he stuffs his mouth full of food, or to sit in the lounge where everybody is taking a break and making plans or whatever. Oh well, from the looks of thes print on these sweat pants, I haven't lost my sense of humor anyway. It is hard to be real serious when you are over 40 and running around with pink flames on your clothing, sheeesh!
I actually switched from a M-F schedule to a S-T schedule...sm
because of the financial situation. I was offered a lot better money to work this schedule on a particularly picky account. I can live with working on Sunday evenings because that is when my 2 teenage kids, also very active in sports, band, church, driving, dating, social life, etc., etc., are vegging on the couch, relaxing for the evening before it all starts again. It was worth the sacrifice to me to be able to afford all the activities, and it really is not much different than working the M-F shift. I do have Fridays off to kind of catch my breath while the kids are at school or go and take care of business. I do not feel I have given up any of my life to work on Sundays. Most companies will be flexible on the schedule for Sunday because of church, family dinner, whatever. The way I look at it is later on, I may be able to switch to a M-F schedule if I am willing to give a little now. Even if I don't, to me it was worth it for the extra money and mommy time I get on Fridays. I am widowed so I do put a lot of time into my kids. This is just what works for me. On the other hand, it is ok to only want to work M-F, there is nothing wrong with that. You have to do what is best for you.
tired of companies overhiring and then sitting and waiting endlessly for work
The accomplishes nothing because then people get tired of not making any money and move on. Is there no solution to this?
That is why I left. I spent days sitting in front of the computer, checking for
work every 5 minutes (or less) for 8+ hours trying to get work. On my days off I used to work 12+ hour days to make up lines, but then they hired people for Friday-Monday work and then there wasn't extra work to make up lines. I would get up at 3 or 4 a.m. and try to get work. I gave it a good try, frequently asked STM for more work, went over her head. They didn't seem to care, meanwhile I'm taking $300 to $400/month out of savings to cover my bills.
I would be afraid to lose my safety net if I needed X amount of dollars to live. I am sitting here
now out of work with 3 major hospitals in my pool and I think if a lot of people all want to work the same hours this may be a big problem because they cant keep it straight now so I would be very leery of this until you see how it is going to go. I work for Amherst and this is a chronic problem with no work.
No problem :) No matter how long, it is too long for me - I am broke the day after payday. Kids wi
do that to you!
I know that they have worked very hard to make sure that checks are never late and I can say that in the past two years, I have had one problem (2 days late) and in the past 18 months, they have all been on payday and perfect.
I know that there are a lot of hard feelings in MT in general. I also know firsthand (and I am not mgmt) how hard KS has worked to get things going good.
I would not want to walk in an MTSO's shoes for any amount of money, but that's just me. I like to finish my work for the day, forget about work when not working and get paid on payday. I never want the other things that go with mgmt or owning a company of any kind :)
They definitely rip you off with your line count. Figured this out long ago and quit long ago
x
At least you stand up for yourself!
I am the HR person, QA, and trainer for a small company. We've had the same employees for more than 5 years, some as long as 10. Recently we had to hire a few new people because of growth.
People talk about wanting to be respected and wanting to keep the work here. I agree this needs to be done but in order to do that we have to have qualified people. IF somebody passes our simple test, which is transcribing real files, and we hire them, we tell them their line requirement. We don't even require set hours. We get people who won't do 200 lines per day, much less what is required. We get people who say they have 10 years of experience, yet require total read throughs, which cost us money. The incredibly bad ones we have to let go, which is incredibly hard for me to do, then come here and post how horrible the employer is. They don't mention the fact that 1) they still have our equipment even though they have their last check, 2) they failed to do their required lines per hour, 3) half the time they just didn't work at all PERIOD. Or I invest a great deal of time in training them and they quit with reasons like I didn't realize it would take four hours to work part time and get my lines, I didn't know working at home was like having a REAL job.
I don't know anything about your company at all, but I do know the frustration at being hammered on these forums without the real stories being told, so I think it's great that somebody actually takes up for their company. We do not outsource, but I have edited for companies who do, and the work is there ON TIME, even if it has to have minimal editing. If someone is sick, there's somebody to back them up. No whining, no emails from people who say that for the 10th time this month there was a wreck and their power is off, the dog is sick, I fell and hurt my back again, my dad is going to be ill in December so I'll need time off, my car broke down and I had to walk 5 miles home so that's why I am 8 hours late getting on, I was out all night partying and I have too much of a headache now to work. It's a real shame for the people who actually do work their tails off.
What does TTS stand for? nm

Take a stand.
Lest we get redirected to the politics board, let me make a few general observations. I would not look to the companies for resolution. They are only one player among many whose greed holds our country in their clutch...a tight, squeezing grip that impoverishes the poor, enriches the wealthy and make economic refugees of the ever-shrinking middle class. Look beyond the corruption of the politicians and whatever despair, frustration and hopeless you may feel. For a long and single moment, stare far back into the eyes or our history and ask these questions over and over and over again:
Why are we paid wages like we're a third world country. It'd be nice just to meet the bills, but between low wages and high costs of having insurance, which we have to have because our antidepressant medications are so flipping high, who can survive doing this anymore?
They are your questions. They are mine too. Why, indeed. Go and find your answers. Seek educated and balanced debates pros and cons, right and left. Here's a hint on how to start. You'll have to switch to something besides Fox and CNN to find this. Listen to the candidates. Follow the rhetoric and their platforms. Watch closely and be a tough critic. Put yourself around others who share these perspectives. Listen and contribute, teach and learn from one and the other. Identify your agenda and then go out and promote and support it.
Do this between now and this time next year. Then show up at the polls. You will know what to do. If you don't get what you want from the leadership and the legislators, do not disappear into the corner of the country. Get out there and go for it, over and over. This is not wasted effort. If you were a child of the 60s or 70s, you would believe this. In my life, sweeping, long-reaching and lasting reform has come and gone. Minorities and women still reap the benefits of those efforts from so long ago. The time is ripe for history to repeat itself.
PS: If this were 1970, you and I would be organizing (watch out, here comes that dirty word) LABOR UNIONS.
Could not stand it ..
First post I read was how nobody needs the BOS. Then I read this .. some days you just have to wonder how in the world people make a living if they really feel there need be no rules or standards. Forget India or Manila or Pakistan and for God sake, remember patient safety. There is a reason for standards and every time I come here I see someone shooting themselves in the foot with their incredibly illogical logic. Our jobs are about patient safety .. first, foremost and always.
What does LTS stand for?

Can't stand it.
I hate the way it searches patients, I hate the autotext format...basically can't stand it. I only live with it because I play it in express scribe and type it in word and then copy it over.
what's TT stand for ? nm

Where is YOG or what does that stand for???
Does this company still exist? I tried to look on Google to see what company this is and cant find it.
What does it stand for, please? (SPi) (nm)
Who is going to stand up for us?
We are all spread out, and the company I just came from kept everyone's name a secret, including how many working on the account, changes in schedules - everything.
And this is exactly why, so we CAN'T do anything about anything.
I was with them about a month. I could not stand the
account they had me on and they got pretty rude about it.
what does MTSO stand for? nm
...
It would only stand to reason that they
ALWAYS on the verge of losing accounts, probably because of the cherry-picking, lazy, idiot MTs they employ.
Also, as was posted by Deb the last time this issue was brought up, it is because it is a different platform. Do they offer any of us without work the chance to train on the new platform? Of course not!
I stand corrected...
If they do not have the integrity to stand up and say they have
enough staff, then I have lost all respect I had for any of them. Most of them have no ability anyway, so when they lose those jobs, they will be on the welfare lines.
I see. I stand corrected.
xx
I absolutely cannot stand it - sm
When people feel the need to correct errors in posts!
Ahh, I stand corrected. nm
