If you are serious about the belittle part, report it. My mentor was soooo nice. (sm)

Report feedback very prompt and helpful, not demeaning in any way. Did the required number of reports to be monitored, got above the 98% and then received congratulation E-mails for doing so from my mentor and STM.
Good manners and friendly attitude are a BIG part of the company. If this person was truly rude or unhelpful, please let HR and/or your assigned STM know.

Soooo nice. This is the place I will retire from. nm
I had the phone interview. I did the report part of the exam with Express Scribe (sm)
last week, but haven't heard back from them. Does this usually take this long? tia
Nice people, can be low on work especially in the early part of the week SM
Be warned, they don't pay for normal reports.
Not to belittle your post i anyway, but (sm)
when you, or anyone else, for that matter writes:
I have been assured that I can have another account, or however many I need, if my account runs out of work.
It's a crock of ShId. They (all online MT companies OVERHIRE, because their main purpose is to please the physicians who are paying them (the company---not us) by getting everything back in a 24-hour TAT. Any MT who has been doing this as long as I will agree.
To newbies, or very trusting people, don't believe everything you hear, or say, for that matter.
I worked there part-time briefly. People are very nice to deal with, sm
and pay was okay. You had to wait 90 days to get direct deposit, and until then checks were mailed, which is a bit of pain, but they were always on time. I didn't care that much for my account, but the leader was always quite helpful. They must be a bit disorganized, though, as I still get messages from the help desk to help out, and I have been gone at least 3 months! And the help desk is apparently in India, if that makes any difference to you.
I agree. Just because we are running out of work, it is not fair to belittle or be unkind personall
to Dorothy or any of the staff. I agree they have most likely over hired as this is the first time I have ever run out of work at MDI, holiday notwithstanding and it has now been going on for a couple months now. I am frustrated to the point of tears myself and may be looking for another job. I have tried to address these issues with her to no avail. I do hope things will get better but this will be the last week I can afford to hang on. She said things will pick up this week and I am hoping she is right, if not I too will have to leave. At any rate, I have no complaints personally with Dorothy. She has always been very kind and fair to me. I will truly hate to leave but probably have no choice.
mentor
I am intrested in mentoring too. If you find anything out please let me know too. I'm a newbie.
mentor
How do you know if you pay 300 or 400 dollars that you aren't going to get ripped off.
Why would an exp'd MT need a mentor? nm
Mentor
Some mentors are wonderful at helping you get started with their system, formatting, and account specifics. I wonder if others are provided to make you feel inferior and inadequate just to keep you down so you don't dare ask for just compensation. Some have ego problems, others are just plain sweet, helpful, people. There is conflict with some regarding the BOS. I use 3rd edition. If they go by 2nd, you have to play their game.
Mentor Program??
You can also check out companies that offer mentor programs for new MTs. It can help you get on without the 2+ years experience.
OSI has mentor program
*
my mentor is the one who pointed it out
Although she does not know why there is a discrepancy in the lines. I did tell her that it does not marke inactive when I am listening to it, it is because I am not typing. In SR I synch up the cursor so it will sail along and after about 1 second it will be inactive even though I am in the report and listening to it.
Actually, I think you are referring to the Allstate ad for a mentor rather than
the sales position advertised by a David Bernard. I agree, the rate Allstate wants to pay a mentor is appalling. It's probably to mentor offshore MTs at that!
Very nice owner, nice work, nice place - sm
the leave you alone. I left because they do not budge from their pay which was kind of mediocre. I would go back if I had to because they were extremely nice.
How long does it take to hear from OSI mentor program.
I applied August 2nd and have not heard anything. Is this a bad sign?
Thanks
I suggest you ask for a mentor to help you through the rough spots.
I had trouble with the demog screens at first but I got a routine down and now they go very quickly for me. My production is back up even higher than at my old company. Good luck.
I hate OSI for veterans but they have a mentor program

You are soooo right!. sm
Every time I have called I have gotten a total attitude from them as if I am ruining their day by calling. It's their darn job to help me so get over it!!! I DREAD calling them.
Well, I am soooo happy to see that I am not the
thought, huh???????? I'm the one who responded about getting an 86 on it. I really felt badly about the whole thing, especially since it was the VERY FIRST MT test I took straight out of school. But now I see others think it's ridiculous as well. You should have seen their snotty email to me. We require a minimum of 3 years current hospital MT experience for consideration of an at-home position. Thank you for your interest. That's it, nothing else. Why in the heck didn't they just say that to begin with? I never would have bothered taking the darn thing! Plus, there are those out there with 20 years of experience who can't pass that rotten test. Then, too, there are companies who don't even respond at all. So I guess I should consider myself lucky that Mr. Snot responded at all.
Me too! Love my job soooo much! nm
x
Well if it was soooo horrible...
Why didn't they say that?? I only received three or four corrections on it and this was on an ESL speaking doctor, so for a first-time run at it I don't see that as horrible. I type for a large 300-bed acute care hospital and also do IC work for a brain and spine trauma center and my QA is 98%++. As far as this being a test, this was an actual report that was pulled off the system to type. This was not something dictated from a year ago, it was just dictated. When I applied to them there was no testing, no phone interviews or anything. Basically, I received an email stating they could use me on this account and then I was set up. From where I come from you train your people so that there is no confusion on how a typed report should look since essentially they are a legal document and everything needs to be in order. You can say all you want, but I think this company lacks PR and to me that is as important as how much a company will pay. I'll just keep my own accounts and be happy. I don't have any complaints from them, only happy referrals to other offices.
I am soooo the opposite
If I were making this posting, I would be asking if anybody knew who made a 'clicky' keyboard, because to my ear, they're all too quiet. I need to be able to 'hear' what my fingers are doing, which may make sense to some of the people on here. I don't know if it's some kind of subconscious thing or what, like instantaneous letter counting or something, but I can almost 'hear' a typo and God only knows what I would be typing if I didn't get that immediate feedback. I just turn up my volume and, if it's really tough, type really gently through the bad section (and hopefully it's just a sentence or so).

But in answer to your question, it seems to me that a lot of the black Microsoft keyboards are pretty darn quiet, both the straight and ergonomic ones.
well said and soooo true NM
.
soooo true....
As if our pay isn't low enough. Cut me a break! If we don't smarten up and start saying no to these low-paying jobs, it will never end; it will just keep getting worse and worse.
Soooo many people have left!
I know that at least 20 or so people quit around the same time I did! Even though it is super annoying, it is sometimes funny to read their e-mails when they are panicking because they don't have enough people.
I soooo feel your pain!
and it makes me angry too. I have done this since 1980 and never had a raise. As a matter of fact, I used to make more!! Everybody wants to do medical transcription and I get asked about it all the time. I tell them NOOOOOO, you do NOT want to do this. The ads out there make it sound like you can make so much money, and while as a good Transcriptionist you CAN make better than average money, it never goes past that point. Working at home is not all it is cracked up to be. I only did it because I wanted to be home with my kids. Now I am sorry to be stuck in this rut.
She is soooo anal....find something better..nm
xxxxx
Linda, you are soooo right, when I was younger and dumber....sm
I was sooo afraid of using shortcuts, I watched the screen like a hawk and typed everything verbatim and screwed myself out of so much money! I wondered what the secret was to all those MTs who would chat up a storm, and till make a higher line count than me, and they had less experience....They used their shortcuts/expanders for everything, and once I learned this and worked on mine, my line count zoomed and I consistently made high incentive pay and bonus....don't underestimate this tool. Thanks for bringing this up, Linda!
Soooo...if those WITH lots of experience are being offered
d
These smileys crack me up! They are soooo funny! nm
nm
soooo, you are posting anonymous posts to your own
posts now??? How childish. Besides that, I did not see any copyright mark on the eye rolling thing, and I was not responding to YOU, but to someone else. I thought you were *bored* and had moved on. Apparently not because you always have to have the last word about anything. I guess that makes you feel that your are always right, as well as a people abuser. LOL.
Ditto that! Psych is soooo boring. Feel bad for people and their many problems, but not
s
Very nice people, nice place to work. nm
nm
Yes, nice QA (and nice people in general), but very little work right now. nm
nm
OH - I thought part transcription, part escription, but don't know for sure
nm
Yes! Nice lady, nice company. nm
xx
I second that. Amphion is nice, nice, nice
They no longer hire part-time and may be eliminating part-time employees within the next 6 months.
They are going to have those that are PT go FT if possible. Some accounts require 1 weekend day, but not all. Most transcriptionists have 1 account with 1 back-up account. I know that they are hiring for hospital accounts in medical records and radiology right now.
No PTO for part-time. Not sure if you can work part-time or not since recent rule change. sm
You do pay a deposit for their equipment.
that's nice. have a nice weekend.
x
Nice post, thank you and have a nice day. nm
.
There is a part-time and a flexible part-time, just left there and they offered
me both. Flexible, however, is more or less when they need you (I.e. weekends), part-time is fixed hours.
Yes I know they hire part time because I referred someone there for part time.
They are internet based.
From what I understand, the part-time positions will be only be for those that are already part-time
It is not a restructuring of the company, just of some of the existing part-time positions.
I know that there are a few employees who have been with Keystrokes for many, many years who are part-time and they will not displaced.
Other than that, there have been many discussions why there will not be any new part-time employees hired, and I really don't think they will back down on that.
Rad report pay - sm
Wish I knew where you got $1.35 as a norm. The most I've ever been offered was $1.25 and that was for Meditech radiology, the pits. Care to share where you got this norm? TIA
KS rad report pay - sm
Recent interview I had stated $1.10 report, and $2.25 report for specials (interventional exams), but the rest of the pay scale didn't turn me on. They don't pay for each exam under the specials, ( no linking for angio/TPA/cath insertion, etc), figuring the $2.25 would cover it, but no way does that make up for the length of some of those exams. Wasn't my cup of tea.
Pay per report. sm
I worked there for a while. Got $1.25 per report but the reports were very long and the platform horrible. Wasn't worth it.
per report
I agree with the person who said if its plain films that are typed then go with per report price.
pay per report
MedQuist pays per report for Radiology and uses Meditech.
